OPP ON SCENE OF FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision.

At approximately 4:39 this afternoon a collision involving two vehicles occurred on Highway 7 West of Barry’s Road, in the former Mariposa Township. Initial investigation indicates that an east bound vehicle was stopped or stopping to make a left hand turn into a driveway when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck.

The two occupants of the vehicle, a 73 year old male and a 58 year old female are both deceased.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported from the scene via ambulance to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigation unit (TCI) is on scene to assist with the investigation. Highway 7 is closed between Kawartha Lakes Road 46 and White Rock Road and will remain so for a few hours.

The investigation is ongoing.
