TRAFFIC COMPLAINT RESULTS IN DRIVER CHARGED

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On June 17, 2014, just before 8:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a traffic complaint involving a Freightliner tractor trailer driving erratically on Highway 401 westbound near Mull Road.

Officers located the vehicle, which appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and subsequent traffic investigation at scene revealed that the vehicle was not equipped with a speed limiter and that the driver’s licence was suspended.

The driver, 33 year old Manishkumar PATEL, from Toronto, ON, has been charged with the following:

Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Driver Fail To Surrender Licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Drive Commercial Motor Vehicle Not Equipped With Working Speed Limiting System, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The owner of the vehicle, a numbered company from Mississauga, has been charged with Permit Operation of Commercial Motor Vehicle Not Equipped With Working Speed Limiting System, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
