(ADELAIDE METCALFE, ON) – On Thursday, June 19, 2014, at approximately 9:40 p.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Adelaide Metcalfe Fire Department, the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department, Middlesex-London Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Hydro One, responded to a single motor vehicle crash on Napperton Drive in the Municipality of Adelaide Metcalfe, ON.
As a result of the police investigation, it was determined that a 2000 Lincoln car was travelling eastbound on Napperton Drive. For unknown reasons, the car left the roadway, rolled over, and struck a hydro pole in the south ditch.
The 29 year old male driver from Strathroy Caradoc, ON was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
The 27 year old female passenger from Strathroy Caradoc, ON died and was pronounced at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Hydro was out in the area.
OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) have been deployed to assist with the investigation.
A section of Napperton Drive between Kerwood Road and Brown Road is closed, as police continue their investigation.
The road is expected to be closed until approximately 7:00 a.m. today.
