HIGH SPEED PURSUIT

(DRYDEN, ON.) -On June 24, 2014 at approximately 11:46am the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) observed a motor vehicle at a high rate of speed, 146km/h in a 90km/h zone on Highway 17 Southworth Township. The officers attempted to stop the motor vehicle at which point the driver failed to stop for police. A pursuit was initiated and a short time later, the driver eventually stopped for police. He has been arrested and charged with Danger operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) of the Criminal Code, Flight while pursued by Peace officer contrary to section 249.1(1) of the Criminal Code, stunt driving contrary to section 172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act and Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to section 94 of the Criminal Code.

The driver, Nathan SWIDERSKI (23years old) of Selkirk Manitoba will be held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 25, 2014 in Dryden. His vehicle has been impounded for seven days and his driver’s license has been suspended for seven days.
