Owen Sound Police Service to Consult Public on Tasers

The Owen Police Service and Owen Sound Police Services Board invite members of the public to attend their Board meeting to discuss the expansion of Conducted Energy Weapons (Tasers) to front line officers. Currently only uniform supervisors, within Owen Sound Police Service, carry Tasers.

In 2013 Ontario has approved the expansion of Taser to permit front line officers to carry Tasers. The Owen Sound Police Service and Owen Sound Police Services Board is providing the public an opportunity for consultation or to ask any questions in regards to Taser use. There will be a live demonstration on the deployment of a Taser.

The public is invited to attend the Board meeting on Thursday June 26th at 7:00 p.m., at the Owen Sound Police Station, 922 2nd Avenue West, Owen Sound in the Public Meeting room, 2nd floor.
