(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment would like to take this opportunity to let our community know that local police officers from the Norfolk County Detachment will be helping kids “drop a line†at an annual fishing derby being held on Saturday June 28, 2014.
The OPP will be out with the kids at the Backus Heritage Conservation Area located at 1267 Second Concession RR # 1, Port Rowan, ON. The derby will run from 8am to 2pm and children under 16 will be assisted by officers for a chance to win some great prizes.
Anyone that decides to attend has to bring their own fishing equipment however bait will be provided.
“This is a great opportunity for Norfolk County OPP officers and our children to interact and have a fun day while enhancing relationships between our youth and the police. Fishing is one of the best ways for parents to establish productive and healthy relationships with their children and it also gives everyone a chance to interact with their local police officers,†comments Inspector Zvonko Horvat, Norfolk County OPP Detachment Commander.
