Stolen Truck Recovered – Lucas CORBIERE and Crystal GRANT Charged

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) patrol officers were at the right spot at the right time last night. Just after 9:30 p.m. officers received information to be on the lookout for a 2013 GMC Sierra pickup reported stolen from Bosanquet Township in Lambton County. As it turned out an OPP patrol vehicle in Goderich was at the mini plaza on Victoria Street North when officers spotted the suspected stolen truck parked in the plaza.

Officers confirmed the truck was stolen and watched as a female passenger returned to the truck. At that point the officers approached a male that was seated in the driver’s seat and proceeded to arrest both the driver and passenger for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.

A search of the pickup revealed additional stolen property consisting of vehicle documents from a Plymouth Voyageur Van reported stolen from Sudbury on May 23, 2014. Additionally, police located a wallet and identification that was reported stolen from Sarnia on May 25, 2014.

Both were taken into custody and during the booking process the male driver attempted to mislead police by personation. Officers were able to determine the male had provided a false name and later his real name was uncovered.

As a result, Lucas CORBIERE, 26 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Personation with Intent, and Obstruct Peace Officer.

Crystal GRANT, 22, from Sudbury has been charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Two Counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Occupant of Motor Vehicle Taken Without Consent and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Both remain in custody with court appearances scheduled for June 2, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
