MVC HIT AND RUN

Waterloo Regional Police request the assistance of the public in identifying a vehicle and driver who struck a cyclist shortly before 9am on Saturday May 31, 2014. The hit and run collision occurred on Park Street at Union Boulevard in Waterloo. The cyclist was eastbound on Park Street approaching the intersection with a green light when the vehicle passed her and turned right onto Union Boulevard, striking the cyclist and knocking her to the ground. The driver then took off on Union Boulevard towards King Street South. The cyclist, a 26 year old Kitchener woman, suffered minor injuries and her bicycle was damaged. The motor vehicle was described as a small SUV, white with a roof rack, similar to a Mazda CX-5. It may have damage to the rear passenger side. Anyone with information regarding this hit and run collision is encouraged to call the Waterloo Regional Police Service North Division 519 650 8500 ext. 6397. The Waterloo Regional Police Service reminds drivers of the importance of sharing the roadway with all bicycles and motorcycles now that warmer weather has arrived.
