Driver Served With 3 Day Suspension

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 55 year old male recently lost his driving privileges for three days following a traffic stop on June 14, 2014. At 2:15 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checks at the intersection of Bluewater Veteran’s Highway and Mill Road when a driver attempted to avoid the checkpoint.

Officers observed the driver of a Red Dodge pickup abruptly truck turn off in a manner to avoid the checkpoint. Officers followed the driver and stopped him nearby. Upon speaking with the driver the officer detected the driver had been drinking alcohol.

The driver provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device and he registered a warning. As a result, a 55 year old male from Dundalk was served with a three day driver’s license suspension. His motor vehicle was also impounded for three days.
