On May 6, 2014 at 11:30 p.m., the Guelph Police Traffic Division went to a personal injury collision at the intersection of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road. A 2001 Toyota Corolla operated by a 40-year-old Guelph female and a 2001 Dodge operated by a 51-year-old Guelph male were involved. It is alleged that the vehicles collided in a “T-bone†style of impact. The force of this impact sent the Corolla off the roadway and into the business located at the southwest corner of the intersection. The driver of the Corolla and a male passenger were transported to Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles were demolished with an estimated value in excess of $35,000. At the time of this collision, a large portion of the city was subject to a large power outage. This affected a number of signalized intersections, including the one at the collision scene.
Guelph Police would like to remind the public that in the event that you approach a signalized intersection, which does not have power, you are required treat the intersection as a four-way stop. You MUST stop and only proceed when safe to do so.
Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact Cst D. ALLEN of the Traffic Division at 519-824-1212 ext. #7155.
