BRUCE PENINSULA OPP KEPT BUSY ON LONG WEEKEND WITH OVER 100 INCIDENTS

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.) – The Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were kept busy this May long weekend, in spite of come chilly night temperatures. OPP investigated a total of 107 incidents over the three day weekend, including two Impaired driving occurrences, three 3-day driving suspensions, five assaults, five (minor) motor vehicle collisions, and nine traffic complaints. Several calls on the Peninsula were received regarding excessive noise, and one incident was related to bail violations.

A total of 142 tickets were handed out through enforcement this long weekend.

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA ON.) – On Friday May 16, 2014 at 4:03pm, an officer with the Bruce Peninsula conducted a traffic stop on Berford Street in the town of Wiarton. Police located a radar detector inside the 2011 Mercedes. Police seized the radar detector, and a 43 year old male from Etobicoke has been charged.

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA ON.) – On Friday May 16, 2014 at 11:10pm Bruce Peninsula OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check on Sauble Falls Parkway, when officers noted an odour of alcohol and marihuana. Further investigation was conducted, and a 19 year old passenger from Whitby, Ontario has been charged with possession of cannabis marihuana – under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA ON.) – On Sunday May 18, 2013 at 10:08pm Bruce Peninsula officers were on patrol on French Bay Road, Saugeen First Nation when they located a highly intoxicated female being assisted by her friend to walk. Officers assisted the female to her residence where it was found she was on conditions not to consume alcohol. When the female was being placed under arrest for breaching these conditions, she began kicking and screaming at the officers. The female assaulted an 18 year member of the OPP by punching/scratching the officer in the face, breaking his glasses, and causing multiple cuts to his face. The female was found to be under the influence of alcohol and methamphetamines. Both the arrested female and the officer were seen at the local hospital. An 18 year old female from Shallow Lake, Ontario was arrested and charged with breaching her conditions, as well as assault with the intent to resist arrest. She was held for a bail hearing.
