Break, Enter and Commit Theft – Update

On the 5th of June in the early morning hours, Barrie Police Uniform Patrol were in the area of Yonge Street and Ester Drive when they observed what appeared to be two (2) stranded motorcyclist. Officers circled back to render assistance and at that time the two males fled on foot. Officers gave chase and were able stop one of the males a short distance away.

During the course of their investigation, officers determined that the motorcycle had just been stolen from a nearby residence garage and at that time, the male was arrested for Break & Enter / Theft. Members of the Street Crime Drug Unit assisted with the continuing investigation and later that same day identified and arrested the 2nd outstanding suspect. After interviewing victims and through investigation, officers were able to link the two males to a recent rash of Break and Enter’s in the area of Marshall Street and Thorncrest Rd.

Both males, both 14 years old from Barrie, were transported to Barrie Police Headquarters and later released to their parents with a future court date. A total of 24 charges were laid in regards to this investigation. Charges are Break and Enter, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property and Theft.

The Barrie Police Service has seized a quantity of property and is in the process of returning it to its rightful owner(s).
