On Sunday, June 22, 2014, the London Police Service received a 911 call at 3:27 a.m. after hearing someone on the main floor of a student residence, located on Western Road.
Officers arrived at the address at approximately 3:30 a.m. and found two 21-year-old males attempting to back out of the lane way in the caller’s vehicle. The two men were arrested and the vehicle, as well as property in the vehicle that was taken from the home, were recovered.
As a result of the investigation, Noah Hamblin of London and Anthony Bernhardt of no fixed address, have been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada charges:
– Break and enter, contrary to section 348(1)(b);
– Auto theft, contrary to section 333.1(1)(a); and
– Possession of property obtained by crime, contrary to section 354(1).
Noah Hamblin has further been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada charges:
– Impaired operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 253(1)(a);
– Fail to submit to drug evaluation, contrary to section 254(5); and
– Breach of recognizance, contrary to section 145(3).
Anthony Bernhardt has further been charged with the following charges:
– Possession of a Schedule II substance, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
– Breach of undertaking, contrary to section 145(5.1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
It is suggested that students close and lock all windows when no one is home; ensure all occupants have a key to the residence; and keep exterior doors locked at all times.
