Arrest

A 50 year old Barrie resident is presently in police custody facing a bail hearing. Late Thursday evening the accused was driving on Yonge Street. At the time the accused did not have the headlights of his vehicle properly engaged. A Barrie Police Traffic officer observed this and stopped the accused. The officer noticed that the accused was drunk and arrested him for impaired driving. An empty bottle of vodka was found on the floor of the vehicle’s passenger side. The accused was taken to the station for further testing. He failed two subsequent breath tests. A further checked of police records indicated that the accused was a disqualified driver stemming from a previous drinking driving conviction. In addition he was bound by a court order not to consume alcohol. He was charged with impaired driving, drive over 80mgs, drive disqualified and fail to comply undertaking.
