On May 3, 2014 at 12:27 p.m., the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire at the above noted location. Fire apparatus from five stations responded to the scene and found a stove on fire in unit #708. The building was evacuated and fire crews encountered moderate smoke within the unit itself. The fire was quickly brought under control by fire crews and the building ventilated. Only the resident of the unit was displaced.
There were no injuries to firefighting personnel or tenants. At this time, the cause of the fire is believed to be a result of cooking with oil in a pot. Estimated damage to the unit is undetermined at this time.
Guelph Police Service (GPS) and Guelph Wellington Medical Services (GWEMS) along with Victim Services were all on scene in support.
