DISTURBANCE

On Monday, May 26, 2014 at 08:05 a.m. police received a call from the area of Trico drive and Newport drive about a man with what appeared to be a knife chasing another man. Police arrived in the area and located the victim unharmed. He was subsequently arrested for outstanding warrants. The victim was uncooperative with police and would not provide any information regarding the identity of the attacker. The attacker is described as male, possibly Middle Eastern descent, 5’8, 18-25 years, average build, wearing a dark tank top & blue shorts, black full beard & black hair. MVC HIT AND RUN

On Saturday May 24, at 8:45 a.m. 2014, a hit and run motor vehicle collision occurred at Wellington Street North and Shirley Avenue in the city of Kitchener involving a small car and a pick up truck. The male driver of the car which was previously reported stolen fled the scene on foot and was arrested by Waterloo Regional police a short time later. A 25 year old Waterloo male is being held for a bail hearing facing several charges including fail to remain, dangerous driving, driving while under suspension, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and breaching his probation. There were no injuries to either driver.

ASSAULT

On Saturday, May 24, 2014 at approximately 1:26 a.m., a group of approximately six males were seen walking southbound on Albert Street in the City of Waterloo towards Columbia Street, West. The suspects engaged in a verbal argument with an adult male. Shortly thereafter, the suspects were seen chasing the male across Albert Street. The victim was found with obvious injuries and transported to hospital. The suspects were last seen running southbound on Albert Street. The suspects are described as: three Black males, two Asian males, and one White male. MVC PERSONAL INJURY

On the 24th of May 2014 at approximately 9:45am, Victoria Street North between Edna and Bruce was closed for a approximately 2 hours in order for Police to investigate a serious collision with injury. A silver Mazda was waiting to turn left into the parking lot of KW surplus on Victoria Street North, Kitchener, when they were struck from behind by a pickup truck. The Mazda was pushed 20 meters forward. As a result of the collision three adult occupants of the Mazda were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The child was not injured. The pickup truck was destroyed and the Mazda sustained major rear-end damage. The Kitchener man who was driving the pickup truck was charged with careless driving and driving while under suspension.

FIRE

On May 23rd 2014 at approximately 6:00 p.m., unknown suspects set a fire in a large garbage container in the parking lot of 120 Old Carriage Drive, Kitchener. The fire was contained to the garbage bin and Kitchener Fire was able to extinguish the fire. Witnesses report seeing 2-3 individuals in dark clothing fleeing the area immediately prior to the blaze. ARREST

On May 22nd 2014 members of the Waterloo Regional Police conducted an investigation into drug trafficking in the city of Cambridge. Police conducted a vehicle stop and arrested a 28 year old Kitchener man and a 36 year old Cambridge woman who were found to be in possession of a replica handgun and a quantity of crack cocaine valued at approximately $900. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day from a Kitchener residence. Both parties were charged with possession of a controlled substance, theft and possession over $5000 and weapons offences. They were held in custody pending a show cause hearing.

ANIMAL COMPLAINT

On May 22, 2014 at 10:55am Waterloo Regional Police responded to the report of an agitated male who was attacking a mother duck and her duckling’s in the parking lot of a business on Victoria St N in the city of Kitchener. Police responded and located two dead ducklings in the parking lot. With the assistance of witnesses officers were able to locate and arrest a 37 year old Kitchener man. The man was held for a bail hearing and currently stands charged with three counts of Causing Unnecessary Suffering to an Animal, Breaching his Probation Order and Urinating in Public.

On May 22, 2014 at approximately 4:00 a.m. an unknown male forced his way into an apartment on Stanley St in the Village of Ayr. The male came face to face with the occupants and fled the area on foot. No one was injured. The suspect is described as being 5’10”, average build, wearing all black clothing. Police searched the area with negative results. Investigators are appealing to the businesses of Ayr to check their surveillance video between the hours of 3-5 a.m. in an attempt to locate any suspects. IMPAIRED DRIVER

On the 21st of May, 2014 at approximately 8:42pm, emergency personnel responded to Erbs Rd in Wilmot, east of Foxwood Golf Club, in regards to a motor vehicle collision with injury. A 45 year old male cyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital. Police have arrested and charged a 25 year old male with operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol in his blood. Erbs Rd remained closed for several hours pending the police investigation.

THEFT MOTOR VEHICLE

On May 21, 2014 at 1:32pm, Waterloo Regional Police and Wellesly Fire attended a property located at 1220 Moser Young Road in the Township of Wellesley. Police recieved a report of a fire with an unknown source. Response crews attended and found a vehicle that was fully engulfed. The tires and rims were missing and the incident is being treated as suspicious. There were no reported injuries. A short time later the vehicle owner notified police that the vehicle was stolen from Kitchener. Police are in the early stages of the investigation. On May 19, 2014 Waterloo Regional Police made two arrests resulting from an investigation into numerous break and enters, theft of vehicles, and thefts from vehicles. Brent TALBOT, 40 years, of Kitchener and Diana STEEVES also 40 years and from Kitchener, have been remanded into custody and will appear in court Friday, May 23, 2014. This investigation dates back to occurrences from April 2014 to May 19, 2014. The investigation continues and additional charges are expected to be laid in the following weeks. The break and enters are to both residential and commercial properties within the Region of Waterloo and one incident in Brant County. Numerous items of property and motor vehicles have been recovered and returned to their owners. During the investigation some property was abandoned by the accused. Police are requesting residents in the area of Courtland Ave and Cedar St, Kitchener to check for abandoned property and contact police with any findings. Pervert Alert – Composite Image Released

Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate this incident and are releasing a composite image and updated descriptors as follows: White male, approximately 20 years old, no facial hair, light brown hair, blue eyes, with a scratch on the right side of his face near his ear. He had a skinny build, possibly 5’4”-5’6” tall, wearing blue jeans which were faded in the knee area, and had no back pockets. He had on a plain brown shirt with no writing or graphics. A male approached the location and spoke with one of the girls. The male then got closer to her and continued the conversation. He was then seen touching the girl. The children decided to return home and police were called. Police searched the area without success. No one was injured. The male is described as White, approximately 6′ to 6′ 2 medium build in his 20’s. He had light brown hair curly hair and no facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark colored top. Mr. AKORO is described as: Black, approximately 5’10, greying, curly hair, a large gap in his lower teeth. He was last seen wearing a neon type of green jacket. His spoken English is considered very poor. Mr. AKORO has been diagnosed with a number of medical conditions and Police are looking to locate AKORO to check on his well-being. At approximately 01:40 A.M on May 18 2014 a Waterloo resident observed a motor vehicle on fire in the driveway of 93 Marshall St. Waterloo. Waterloo Fire Rescue responded along with Regional Police and found the vehicle fully engulfed. The fire had spread to a second car, the carport and the house itself. Emergency crews were able to extinguish the fire, however the fire destroyed both cars and caused significant damage to the house. A third car parked in the neighboring driveway also sustained minor damage. The cause of the fire is not yet known and the Ontario Fire Marshall will be investigating. There was nobody in the house and the vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the fire. A damage estimate has not yet been determined.
