Port Burwell Beach Closed To Search For Missing Swimmer

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Elgin OPP close Port Burwell beach to search for missing swimmer. 

On June 22, 2025, at 3:05 p.m., members of the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Medavie EMS, Bayham Fire and Central Elgin Fire, were dispatched to Port Burwell beach in the Municipality of Bayham for the report of two swimmers in distress.

Investigation revealed two individuals found themselves in distress while swimming in Lake Erie. One swimmer was pulled to safety and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second individual failed to resurface.

Members of the Elgin County OPP closed Port Burwell beach in an effort to search for the missing individual.

Members of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton, along with members of the Elgin OPP continue to search for the missing swimmer.

Missing 9 Year Old From Howick Found Safe

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with the assistance of the public was able to locate Henry safe.

On February 26, 2025, within the evening hours, the Huron County OPP received a report that Henry, a 9-year-old of Howick Township was missing.

Due to the teamwork between police, local emergency services and the general public in the area, Henry was eventually located and found safe and without injury.

Police and family members would like to thank everyone for their assistance and getting Henry back home.
