More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged three drivers with a total of 8 impaired-related offences in August.

On Sunday August 10, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m., members of the Kirkland Lake OPP were conducting general patrol on Highway 66 in Gauthier Township, when a traffic stop was conducted for speed related offences. Officers determined the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages and the driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, Philippe AUBERT, a 56-year-old of Terrebonne, Quebec was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on September 4, 2025.

On Tuesday August 12, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the Kirkland Lake OPP received a complaint of a pickup truck crashing into garbage cans causing damage to a house and fence on Federal Street, Kirkland Lake. The vehicle initially failed to stop to emergency lights, a short time later a traffic stop was conducted on Goodfish Road. Officers determined the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages and the driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, Bradley HEBERT, a 25-year-old of Azilda was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Dangerous operation

·      Failure to stop after accident

·      Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·      Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

The accused was issued a 90-day ADLS and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on September 18, 2025.

On Wednesday August 13, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a parked vehicle on Seventh Avenue, in Larder Lake. Police located the driver and determined that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, Lynne CORMIER a 32-year-old of Matachewan was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

The accused was issued a 90-day ADLS and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on September 18, 2025.

MONTGOMERY Facing Impaired Driving

(BRANT, ON) – On August 15, 2025, at approximately 10:21 p.m., members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-motor vehicle collision on King Street east of Maple Avenue in Burford, Ontario.

Upon police arrival an approved roadside screening device test was administered which resulted in a “fail”.

Following a police investigation Shazia MONTGOMERY a 34-year-old female of Ancaster, was taken into custody and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on October 03, 2025.

The OPP continues to prioritize road safety through proactive enforcement and public education. Impaired driving-whether by alcohol or drugs-remains one of the leading causes of serious collisions and fatalities on Ontario roadways.

Nahshon BALFOUR – Impaired Driving

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) lays 32nd impaired charge in 2025.

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members from the East Algoma OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 17 west of Blind River. The white car was all over the road, turning on the headlights off and on and driving into on coming traffic.

A short time later police observed the white car travelling eastbound on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River and initiated a traffic stop.  

Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that the individual was impaired by an intoxicating substance. The driver was then arrested and transported to the Blind River Detachment for further testing.

Nahshon BALFOUR, 21 years old from Brantford, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – drug

·      Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on September 04, 2025. The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the involved vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The OPP continues to encourage the public to report motorists suspected of driving impaired by calling 9-1-1 or contacting the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

More Impaired Drivers Charged

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid numerous charges following four alcohol related investigations in less than 48 hours.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Mayfield Road, near McLaughlin Road, in the Town of Caledon. Officers arrived on scene and subsequently formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

Following the investigation, Parmveer BOYAL, 27, of Shelburne, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Just minutes later, Caledon OPP officers responded to reports of a traffic complaint regarding a vehicle stopped within a live lane of traffic on Old School Road, at Dixie Road, in the Town of Caledon. Shortly after 2:30 a.m., officers arrived on scene and subsequently formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Bikramjit Singh, 33, of Caledon, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The following day, on July 20, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Caledon OPP officers were on general patrol in the area of Innis Lake Road and Healey Road, in the Town of Caledon, when a vehicle was observed displaying poor driving behaviour. A traffic stop was conducted and officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, in addition to other criminal offences.

Following the investigation, a 31-year-old from Caledon, was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with release order – two counts

The driver was also issued a seven-day driver’s licence suspension as a result of their blood alcohol concentration.

Later that same day, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision on Highway 10, at Olde Base Line Road, in the Town of Caledon. Officers arrived on scene and subsequently formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, Giovanna VESPASIANI, 55, of Mississauga, was charged with:

  • Fail to remain
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

All accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 7, 2025, to answer to their charges. Those charged with operation while impaired offences were also subject to a seven-day vehicle impoundment and 90-day driver’s licence suspension.

The OPP remains committed to keeping our communities safe through enforcement and public education. In Ontario, alcohol-impaired driving is one of the leading causes of death on the roads. You can face criminal charges if your blood alcohol concentration is 0.08 or more. You can also face penalties if you are within the “warn range”, meaning your blood alcohol concentration between 0.05 and 0.079. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
