Emily ZANINI Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program.

On June 21, 2024, shortly before 12:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 6 near Foucault Road in Espanola.

A vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. program and did not stop for officers. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle a short distance from the R.I.D.E. program. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Emily ZANINI, 32-years-old from Sudbury has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Driver fail to surrender licence

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Fail to stop for police

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on August 6, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Bryton Menard Arrested Following Hit & Run

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – One individual is facing charges after they struck a mailbox before their vehicle came to rest in the ditch on Highway 6 in Northern Bruce Peninsula.

On June 22, 2024, at 8:31 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that a vehicle just struck a mailbox and has driven across the property of a residence. Police located a damaged vehicle down the road from the damaged mailbox. As police were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment.

Bryton Menard, 28-years-old of Georgian Bluffs was charged with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to remain

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 1, 2024.

Sharon TIFFANY: Impaired Driving

(WALKERTON, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver after receiving a traffic complaint by a citizen in Walkerton, in the Municipality of Brockton.

On June 23, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP were contacted by a concerned citizen in the Municipality of Brockton due to the driving of an observed motorist. At approximately 8:44 p.m., police stopped the vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver. The driver was placed under arrest.

Sharon TIFFANY, 60-years-old, from the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Possession of a controlled drug

More Impaired Drivers Arrested – Names Released

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – A number of drivers have been charged following impaired driving investigations throughout Perth County, and some are thanks to the public.

Just before 4:30 a.m. on June 9,2024, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on Henry Street, in the Municipality of West Perth. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered and as a result, and the driver was taken into custody for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jamie MOTT, 38, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 8, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Just after 12:30 a.m. on June 13, 2024, a motor vehicle was observed travelling on Line 71, in the Municipality of North Perth, when it appeared to evade police by pulling into a rural laneway. The homeowner assisted with detaining the driver, who was arrested by police shortly after and transported to an Operations Centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Shawn SKINNER, 23, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

–      Obstruct Peace Officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 15, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Following a traffic complaint from a member of the public just before 1:30 a.m. on June 14, 2024, police located the motor vehicle in question shortly after, on Queen Street, Atwood, in the Municipality of North Perth. The driver was displaying signs of impairment and was arrested. They were transported to an Operations Centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Donna HOPPER, 60, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 8, 2024, to answer to the charges.

On June 16, 2024 at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Perth County OPP officer on patrol observed a motor vehicle hit a parked vehicle on Ontario Road at St. George, in Mitchell, Municipality of West Perth. The driver was displaying signs of impairment and was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, John NOVAK, 67, of Embro, was charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–      Possession of a Schedule I Drug – Other Drugs

–      Careless Driving

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 29, 2024, to answer to the charges.

On June 17, 2024, just after 8:00 p.m., a Perth County OPP officer stopped an All-Terrain Vehicle on Road 150, in the Municipality of West Perth, as the driver was observed to be not wearing a helmet. During the investigation, the operator refused an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand, and was placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Cole KELLY, 34, of Perth East, was charged with:

–      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

–      Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

–      Fail to Wear Proper Helmet

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device

–      Driver Fail to Surrender License

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 15, 2024, to answer to the charges. The ATV was impounded for 45 days.

*Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

Ryan CHANG Was Arrested

(SABLES-SPANISH RIVERS TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid 43 impaired driving charges since January 1, 2024.

On June 19, 2024, shortly after 4:00 p.m., the Manitoulin OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 17. Police received information that the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and unable to maintain its lane.

Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine that the driver was impaired. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Ryan CHANG, 26-years-old from Vancouver has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule III substance – two counts
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on August 6, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Kamaluddin HAIDARI Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a local driver with stunt driving and impaired operation.

On June 15, 2024, just after 10:00 p.m., officers received a call for service regarding a suspicious person around The Gore Road, near Finnerty Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. The individual left the resident in a motor vehicle and was located by officers. At that time, the vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate a speed and led to a traffic stop. During the investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operation a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Kamaluddin HAIDARI, 39, of Caledon, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol.

·      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt.

·      Refusal to comply with demand.

·      Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

·      Driver failure to surrender license.

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 4th, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Speeding and impaired driving is a dangerous mixture. Drivers continue to take changes. The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol/drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

Two More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people with impaired driving.

On June 12, 2024, shortly after 10:00 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP stopped a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Mowat Landing Road in the City of Temiskaming Shores. Through investigation, police determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jeffrey SWEET, 47 years-of-age of New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

On June 13, 2024, shortly after 8:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Armstrong Street North in the City of Temiskaming Shores. Police located the vehicle and through investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Sean MCNAMARA, 44 years-of-age of Kirkland Lake, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused persons were released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in July 2024. They were both issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and their motor vehicles were impounded.

Darryl HAYES Was Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with a variety of charges after responding to a traffic complaint in Bracebridge.

On June 17, 2024, at 9:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about a person riding an ATV near Wellington Street and Muskoka Road 118 in the town of Bracebridge with alcohol openly available. Officers located the ATV travelling from Monck Road to Manitoba and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however when the operator began driving in a very unsafe manner in traffic, officers discontinued their efforts out of respect for the safety of everyone. A short time later, officers located the suspect ATV operator on foot on Manitoba Street and arrested him, bringing him safely into custody after a brief struggle.

Police have charged 41-year-old Darryl HAYES of Mississauga, ON with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Refuse to Comply with Breath Demand CC 320.15(1)
  • Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
  • Operation While Prohibited CC 320.18(1)(a)
  • Flight from Peace Officer CC 320.17
  • Assault Police with Intent to Resist Arrest CC 270(1)(b)
  • Assault Peace Officer CC 270(1)(a)
  • Obstruct Peace Officer CC 129(a)

The accused was further determined to be wanted on two outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions. He was held in custody and will appear for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 19, 2024.

John HAXTON Was Arrested

(MANITOUWADGE, ON) – A Manitouwadge resident is facing impaired operation charges following a traffic complaint.

On June 14, shortly after 4:00 p.m., members of the Manitouwadge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of an erratic driver in the Township of Manitouwadge. Officers located the vehicle at a local business on Huron Walk and initiated a traffic stop.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Manitouwadge OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, John HAXTON, 69-years-old, of Manitouwadge, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Manitouwadge on August 21, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged seven individuals including fourfor impaired operation.

On June 1, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., OPP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Riverview Drive in the Municipality of Trent Hills. The Emergency Response Team (ERT) were also dispatched to assist. The subject of the complaint was located nearby and was arrested by Police.

A 35-year-old male from the Municipality of Trent Hills has been charged with:

–      Assault

–      Mischief – Interfere with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property – over $5,000

–      Uttering threats – Cause death or bodily harm.

The accused shall not be named to protect the identity of the victim and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

On June 1, 2024, shortly before 11:10 p.m., Police stopped a vehicle on Simpson Street in Campbellford and entered into an impaired operation investigation. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Kevin LYON, 44-years-old, from Oshawa, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired.

On June 2, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., officers were dealing with an unrelated traffic stop on County Road 25 in Cramahe Township when another motorist stopped and spoke to police, advising that the driver of a nearby vehicle may be impaired. OPP located the described vehicle at an address on County Road 25 and following speaking with the driver, police made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Troy ARCHER, 37-years-old, from North York, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court.

On June 7, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 45 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. The Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also attended the scene. Officers arrived and observed a vehicle in the ditch. The driver was still in the vehicle and advised that they were not injured. Following speaking with the driver, police arrested the individual for impaired operation.

Tina MOORE, 47-years-old, from Kingston, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

On June 15, 2024, at approximately 3:25 a.m., police received a report of a single vehicle collision where the complainant advised there was a vehicle on their front lawn at an address on Godolphon Road in the Municipality of Trent Hills. The driver had left the vehicle on foot and police began their investigation. The individual was located nearby and had sustained minor injuries. As a result, the accused was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Brandon INGRAM, 33-years-old, from Campbellford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Drive motor vehicle – no licence

–      Fail to remain

–      Fail to report accident

–      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit.

On June 15, 2024, at approximately 12:15 p.m., OPP were on general mobile patrol and located and observed a driver wanted by police. A traffic stop was conducted and the individual was arrested.

Chad LAURIN, 36-years-old, from Quinte West, has been charged with:

–      Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code – two counts.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

On June 15, 2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Police received a traffic complaint regarding a passenger vehicle unable to maintain the lane travelling eastbound on Highway 401 in Clarington. OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. Following investigation, the driver provided identity details of another person.

Valarie TRAVISS, 40-years-old, from Oshawa, was arrested and charged with:

–      Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice

–      Driving while under suspension.

The accused with appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.

For each of the accused arrested for impaired operation, in addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers in two days with impaired operation related offences.

On June 12, 2024, just after 12:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP received a report that a driver may be operating a motor vehicle while impaired. The vehicle driver was located. The investigation led officers to form grounds that the driver’s abilities were impaired by drug and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Jesse DOBRZANSKI, 30, of Collingwood, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

On June 13, 2024, just after 10:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP received a report of a motor vehicle collision. The investigation led officers to form grounds that the driver’s abilities were impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Sanjay DUBEY, 53, of East Garafraxa, was charged with:

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand

• Careless Driving

The accused are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges.

Gidget DOXTATOR Was Arrested

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after member of the public reports traffic complaint of possible impaired driver.

On June 13, 2024, at 4:57 a.m., members of the Oneida Nation Police and Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Bodkin Road, Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Gidget DOXTATOR, a 43-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on July 23, 2024.

Spenser MOORE Was Arrested

(MOOSONEE, ON) – A traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver led to multiple criminal charges.

On June 12, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Quarry Road in Moosonee.  

Police located and stopped the subject vehicle on Quarry Road, and upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Moosonee detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Spenser MOORE, 22 years of age of Moosonee, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Resist peace officer

·        Dangerous operation

·        Take motor vehicle without consent

·        Obstruct peace officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 6, 2024, in Moosonee.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Two drivers are facing Criminal Code (CC) impaired driving charges after members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently investigated two separate incidents. One incident was reported by an off-duty officer and the other was reported after a citizen called 911 to report a suspected impaired driver.

On June 9, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Angus Campbell Drive in Pembroke in relation to a complaint from an off-duty officer regarding a possible impaired driver. Police seized cannabis and as part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted. Further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment. 

As a result of this incident 27-year-old Jessica Lynn TUCKER of Pembroke is charged with the following CC and Cannabis Control Act (CCA) offences:

•             Operation while impaired – drugs

•             Have care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 9, 2024.

On June 12, 2024, at approximately 8:00 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township in response to a complaint of a possible impaired driver. Suspected methamphetamine was seized and as part of the investigation a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted. Further testing was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer at the detachment.    

As a result of this incident Joel ROBINSON, age 37 of Gloucester, ON, is charged with the following CC, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine

·        Driving while under suspension

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence

·        Fail to obey lane sign

·        Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 22, 2024.

Both accused individuals had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days.

Justin DAVIS Was Arrested

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On June 7, 2024, at approximately 9:35 p.m., members of the Elgin OPP were dispatched to a location on Sparta Line east of Centennial Road, Municipality of Central Elgin, for a report of a stationary passenger vehicle with the engine running, occupied by an unconscious driver and 3-year-old child.

Elgin-St. Thomas Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Central Elgin Fire and Emergency Services, and Elgin OPP attended. While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication, the driver was taken into custody without incident, and transported to the St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) for further testing following medical assessment by EMS on-scene.

While in custody at the STPS Headquarters, the individual assaulted an STPS officer and refused to provide a breath sample.

As a result of the investigation, Justin DAVIS, a 25-year-old from Woodstock was charged by the Elgin OPP with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

Additionally, the accused was charged for an additional offence by STPS.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on July 16, 2024.

The Children’s Aid Society of Oxford County were contacted, and arrangements were made to have a family member pick up the involved child.
