Suspicious Death In Kirkfield

(KIRKFIELD, ON) – The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a death in Kirkfield.

On Thursday, August 21, at approximately 4:11 a.m., officers were called to a residence on Richmond Street West where one person was located deceased. 

Preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident, with no signs of a broader threat. Police continue to investigate and are actively monitoring the situation.

Residents of Kirkfield can expect to see an increased police presence as officers continue the investigation.

Collision Near Seaforth Claims Life Of Huron East Resident

(HURON EAST, ON) – A vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the Municipality of Huron East (Seaforth) has claimed the life of a 77-year-old Huron East resident. 

Just before 7:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and Huron East Fire Department responded to a collision on Main Street in Seaforth.

Upon arrival, emergency services located a pedestrian that had sustained life threatening injuries. They were transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the involved pickup truck remained at the scene.

The cause of the collision is being investigated. OPP traffic collision investigators will be on scene for several hours. Roads in the area remain closed at this time.

The deceased is a 77-year-old resident of Huron East.

3 Teens & 20 Year Old Killed In Collision

(MOONBEAM, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) James Bay Detachment continue to investigate a fatal collision on Highway 11 near Moonbeam.

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., officers responded to a motor-vehicle collision involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and a Commercial Motor Vehicle.

As a result of the collision, four individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene: one 16-year-old and two 18-year-olds from Moonbeam, as well as one 20-year-old from Kapuskasing.

The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team.

19 Year Old Deceased – Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

(GREATER SUDBURY, ON) – The cause of death has been confirmed in an ongoing investigation in the Greater Sudbury area.

On Friday, May 23, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) received a call for service regarding an unresponsive individual at a residence in Lively. The individual, 19-year-old Roch (Rocco) Renaud of the City of Greater Sudbury, was transported to the hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) assumed responsibility for the investigation on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the request of GSPS.

A postmortem was conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS), and the cause of death has been determined to be Acute Carbon Monoxide Intoxication (carbon monoxide poisoning).

The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OFPS.

26 Year Old Deceased After Jumping Out Of Canoe

(MABERLY, ON) – Members of the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a drowning incident in Silver Lake Provincial Park.

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., OPP responded to a call for service for a swimmer that had gone missing after jumping out of a canoe into the water.

A 26-year-old male has been recovered and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP Marine Unit, and the Tay Valley Fire Department assisted in the effort.

37 Year Old Deceased Following Rollover On Cedar Swamp Road

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigating a fatal collision in North Middlesex.

On August 15, 2025, at approximately 11:25 p.m., emergency services including members of the Middlesex County OPP, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Thames Centre Fire, were dispatched to Cedar Swamp Road between McGillivray Drive and Mooresville Drive in the Municipality of North Middlesex, for the report of a single vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed a vehicle travelling on Cedar Swamp Road, left the roadway and rolled.

The driver, a 37-year-old male from North Middlesex, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team attended the scene along with Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit to assist with the investigation.

Cedar Swamp Road between McGillivary Drive and Moorseville Drive was closed for the investigation.

One Teen Dead, One Airlifted Hospital

(LAKESHORE, ON)- On Thursday August 14, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Lakeshore Fire Rescue responded to a marine collision involving a single personal watercraft on Lake St Clair near Couture Beach in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

First responders arrived on scene and with the assistance of nearby residents, rescued 4 individuals from the lake.

A 17-year-old female from Essex County was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased from their injuries.

A second female, 16 years of age was transported to hospital and then air lifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Two more females, 15 and 17 years of age, were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting Essex County OPP Marine Unit and members from the Lakeshore OPP Detachment with the investigation.

17 Year Old Deceasd Following Collision

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with members of the OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team, are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:43 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the intersection of Highway 11-17 and Mapleward Road.

The motorcycle driver, a 17-year-old male from Kakabeka Falls, was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. As a result of the investigation, the highway was closed in all directions but reopened shortly before 2:00 p.m.

Missing Person Found Deceased

(ESPANOLA, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has confirmed that the body recovered from the Spanish River in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township is that of a previously reported missing person from June 16, 2025.

On Monday, June 16, 2025, the Manitoulin OPP responded to a report of a missing person in the Town of Webbwood and a search was initiated involving the OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and Aviation.

On Sunday, July 20, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Manitoulin OPP, and the OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) responded to a report of a deceased person located in the Spanish River.

This thorough investigation was conducted by the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS), which resulted in the deceased person being identified as missing person, 50-year-old Gregory Grant.

The death has been determined to be non-suspicious and the investigation is complete.

13 Year Old Deceased Following ATV Collision

(EAST HAWKESBURY, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Hawkesbury Detachment are investigating a fatal collision on Concession Road 6, in East Hawkesbury. 

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle collision involving an ATV. The incident occurred on a private lane way, where the ATV rolled over with two occupants on board.   

As a result of the incident, a 13-year-old male from East Hawkesbury was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

Deceased Found Following Fire

(WEST ELGIN, ON)- On August 8, 2025, at approximately 10:53 p.m., Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Medavie-Elgin Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the West Elgin Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire in the 21000 block of Pioneer Line, Rodney, West Elgin.

The single residence structure was destroyed, and a 54-year-old male was pronounced deceased on scene.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM).

Pioneer Line remains closed between Blacks Road and Furnival Road.

17 Year Old Deceased Following Collision

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Grey Bruce Detachment are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 6 near Limberlost Road, in South Bruce Peninsula. 

On Friday, August 8, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a head-on collision involving an SUV and another passenger vehicle. Four individuals were transported to hospital. 

A 17-year-old male from Markham was later pronounced deceased. Three other individuals have sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

Emergency Medical Services, local fire services and OPP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

1 Wanted For Murder Found Among The Dead

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – The individual wanted in connection with the ongoing death and arson investigation in Bracebridge has been confirmed deceased.

On Friday, August 1, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., members of the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of gunfire at a Beatrice Town Line Road residence in Bracebridge. Officers located a deceased male and the residence engulfed in flames. The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Paul GRAY of Bracebridge. A gunshot wound was determined to be the cause of death.

With support from specialized OPP units, a suspect search was initiated. Police issued a shelter-in-place order, which was lifted by approximately 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

Following further investigation, two additional individuals were located deceased in the residence. A postmortem examination was conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS). One of the individuals was confirmed as Mitchell GRAY, 29 years old of Bracebridge, who was wanted for murder. The cause of death was determined to be smoke inhalation. The identity of the second deceased individual was confirmed as 59-year-old Anita GRAY of Bracebridge. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound.

One Dead – 18 Year Old Arrested

(WHITCHURCH-STOUFFVILLE, ON) – One person has been charged in connection with a fatal head-on collision on Highway 48 in Ballantrae, Whitchurch-Stoufville.

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers from the Aurora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 48 between St. John Sideroad and Ballantrae Commons. A 35-year-old male was pronounced deceased, and the four other occupants of the vehicle were transported to hospital with injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle failed to remain at the scene. With assistance from York Regional Police, the driver was located a short time later and taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, Jaiwin KIRUBANANTHAN, 18 years old from Oshawa, was charged with the following offences:

Dangerous driving – causing death

Dangerous driving – cause bodily harm – three counts

Fail to remain at an accident resulting in death

Public mischief

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Friday, August 8, 2025.

19 Year Old Deceased Following Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – A single vehicle crash has closed Haldimand Highway 54 between Onondaga Townline Road and Harrison Road.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at approximately 12:26 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Department and Haldimand County EMS responded to a collision at Haldimand Highway 54.

It has been determined that a motor vehicle left the roadway and stuck a guard rail. The vehicle then rolled over coming to rest in the ditch. The lone occupant, a 19-year-old of Wilsonville sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on Haldimand Highway 54 between Onondaga Road and Townline Road and witnessed the collision – or has any relevant information – to contact the Haldimand County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
