Fatal 401 Collision

(KINGSTON, ON) – The Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remains on the on scene of a fatal collision on Highway 401 in Kingston.

Shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, members from the OPP and other emergency services responded to a head-on collision involving a tractor trailer and pickup truck on the westbound lanes of Highway 401, just west of the Highway 15 interchange.

The driver of the pick-up was pronounced deceased at the scene. That person’s identity has not been confirmed. The driver of the transport was taken to hospital by paramedics. Injuries were not life-threatening.

Moments prior to the collision, the OPP had received a report of pickup truck traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.

The westbound lanes of the 401 remained closed between Highway 32 in Gananoque and Montreal Street in Kingston for several hours to allow for the on-scene investigation by members of the Frontenac Detachment, assisted by OPP Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigators.

The highway reopened shortly after 1:30 p.m.

Body Of Missing Person Recovered

(MISSISSAUGA FIRST NATION, ON)- On September 6, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a marine call on the Mississagi River.

Two individuals were in an aluminum boat when it overturned. One person was located and was assisted by members of the public. The second person was unaccounted for.

The OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) with a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), Helicopter, multiple marine units, and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) conducted the extensive search. The OPP’s Provincial Liaison Team (PLT) also assisted with the investigation.

On September 8, 2025, the missing person from Blind River was recovered from the river.

The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-FPS). A postmortem is scheduled for Wednesday September 10, 2025, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury.

Remains Of Human Found

(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD, ON) -The Oxford Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the discovery of human remains in South-West Oxford Township.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspected human remains found on a property on Beachville Road. Upon investigation, the remains were confirmed to be human.

Preliminary information suggests that there are no signs of a broader threat. Police continue to investigate and are monitoring the situation. Residents in the area can expect to see an increased police presence.

This investigation is being conducted by the Oxford OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.

The investigation is in its early stages and more information will be released when available.

1 Dead -19 Year Old Arrested

(ETOBICOKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Toronto Detachment is appealing to the public for witnesses and information following a fatal collision on Highway 401 eastbound near Dixon Road in Etobicoke.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, at approximately 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two passenger vehicles and a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) truck.

The MTO truck was parked behind a disabled passenger vehicle, when a second passenger vehicle collided into them. As a result of the collision, one individual that was ejected from the second passenger vehicle was taken to hospital and later pronounced deceased. One individual from the disabled passenger vehicle, one individual from the MTO vehicle, and another individual from the second passenger vehicle were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the second passenger vehicle, a 19-year-old from Vaughan, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

–      Dangerous operation causing bodily harm

–      Dangerous operation causing death

The OPP continues to investigate this incident and believe that other vehicles may have been involved and racing just prior to the collision.

Fatal Collision Near Elmwood

(ELMWOOD, ON) – One person has died following a two-vehicle collision near Elmwood.

On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers with the South Bruce Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Elmwood Fire Department and Grey Bruce EMS, were called to a collision between two passenger vehicles on Bruce Road 10 near Dankert Lake Road. A 69-year-old female, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was pronounced deceased and the two drivers were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation by South Bruce OPP is continuing, with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team.

Bruce Road 10 remains closed between Concession Road 4 and Concession Road 6 for the investigation.

Fatal Collision Closed Hwy 17

(SUDBURY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a head-on collision, which resulted in the death of one driver.

On August 27, 2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision, involving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) and a passenger vehicle on Highway 17, Sudbury.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 26-year-old-person, from North Bay was pronounced deceased at the scene and no injuries were reported to the CMV driver.

The highway was closed in both directions for just over eight hours.

The investigation is still ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Traffic Collision Investigation Team to determine the cause of the collision.

One Dead – Nantharagu SANGARAMOORTHY Arrested

(NORTH STORMONT TWP., ON) – One person has now been charged in connection with a fatal collision on Highway 138 in North Stormont Township.

Officers with the Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SD&G) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene the morning of Saturday, March 29, 2025. A car and two tractor trailers had collided between McNeil Road and Mclean Road.

A 33-year-old woman from Maxville, the driver of the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As a result of the investigation by SD&G OPP, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team, a charge has now been laid against one of the other drivers involving in the collision.

Nantharagu SANGARAMOORTHY, age 50 of Ajax, has been charged with careless driving causing death.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 23, 2025.

80 Year Old Deceased At Beach

(CENTRAL ELGIN, ON) – An 80-year-old was discovered unresponsive in the waters of Lake Erie at Port Stanley beach.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, at approximately 1:32 p.m., Central Elgin Fire, Elgin County Emergency Services (EMS) with Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to the beach in Port Stanley for a medical emergency.

It was determined that an individual was discovered unresponsive in the water by Good Samaritans and was brought back to shore where Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was immediately commenced. They individual were then transported to a local area hospital and later pronounced deceased.

There is no one single cause that leads to drownings but there are common contributors. Basic safety practices such as learning to swim at an early age; wearing a lifejacket or a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) while on a vessel or in water; adult supervision of children while swimming; and not drinking and boating can make the difference between surviving, or not.

The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that assisted with this incident.

29 Year Old Deceased After Jumping Off Bridge

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has died following a drowning incident that occurred on the Grand River in Elora.

On August 24, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with local Paramedic and Fire services, responded to a report of a lost individual in the Grand River.

The individual jumped off the Bissell Park bridge into the Grand River and did not resurface. Local emergency services entered the Grand River and located the individual.

A 29-year-old from Brampton was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim’s identity will not be released out of respect for the privacy of the family.

The Office of the Chief Coroner & Ontario Forensic Pathology Service attended the scene and deemed this incident as non-suspicious.

19 Year Old Deceased

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On August 23rd, 2025, at approximately 2:02 p.m., members of the Thunder Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment received a report of an overdue motorist, with the last known whereabouts along Highway 589, between Moving Post Road and Old Hall Road.

After extensive patrols were conducted, a single motor vehicle was located a considerable distance from Highway 589, north of Moving Post Road.

As a result, one 19-year-old male, of Thunder Bay, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

As the investigation continues, the OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Collision Re-Constructionists are assisting and all resources have cleared from Highway 589.

Another Pedestrian Fatality

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision involving vehicle and a pedestrian in New Tecumseth. 

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on 13th Line, near Adjala Tecumseth Townline. A 23-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vehicle involved is believed to have fled the scene. 

The road was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation

Police are asking the driver involved to come forward, as they may not have realized a person was on the roadway. 2 Dead, 5 Sent To Hospital Following Collision

(KENORA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision on Highway 17 in Kenora, which led to a temporary closure of the highway in both directions from Kimberley Road to Longbow Lake Road. The highway has now reopened.

On Saturday, August 23, 2025, at approximately 12:15 p.m., officers responded to a serious collision involving an SUV and a pickup truck. The driver and passenger of the SUV, a 76-year-old female from Dryden and a 68-year-old male from Ottawa were pronounced deceased at the scene. Five other individuals, the occupants of the pickup truck, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionist attended, alongside emergency crews. The investigation remains ongoing.

Death At Park Under Investigation

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a death at Earl Rowe Provincial Park.

On Friday, August 22, at approximately 11:58 p.m., officers were called to Earl Rowe Provincial Park where one person was located deceased. 

Preliminary information suggests this is an isolated incident, with no signs of a broader threat. Police continue to investigate and are actively monitoring the situation.

Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence as officers continue the investigation.

Hwy 7 Collision Claims 2 Lives

(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a four-vehicle collision which has resulted in two fatalities. Two others were critically injured and two individuals suffered minor injuries. 

The deceased individuals have been identified as a 59-year-old female and a 46-year-old male from Ottawa. They had been travelling in the same vehicle. Two other individuals were transported to a regional trauma centre by Air Ornge, one individual taken to hospital in Ottawa and one taken to a local hospital.

Lanark County OPP, Lanark County Paramedic Services and Drummond-North Elmsley-Tay Valley Fire Rescue responded to the collision on Highway-7, east of Maberly, just after 3:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025.

The collision involved two transport trucks, a pick-up truck and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). All individuals involved are adults. As part of the ongoing investigation it appears the two transport trucks and the SUV were travelling Eastbound and the pick-up truck was travelling Westbound.

Lanark County OPP continues to investigate, with assistance from OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Collision Reconstructionist.

Highway 7 will remain closed between County Road 36 and County Road 511 for several hours. Marked detours are in place.

2 Teens Dead Following Incident In Lakeshore

(LAKESHORE, ON)- On Thursday August 14, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Lakeshore Fire Rescue responded to a marine collision involving a single personal watercraft on Lake St Clair near Couture Beach in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

First responders arrived on scene and with the assistance of nearby residents, rescued 4 individuals from the lake.

A 17-year-old female from Windsor-Essex County was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased from their injuries.

Two females, 15 and 17 years of age, were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

On Wednesday August 20, 2025, a 16-year-old female from Calgary, who was air lifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, has died from her injuries.

Essex County OPP extends their deepest and sincere condolences to everyone who has been affected by this tragedy.

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting Essex County OPP Marine Unit and members from the Lakeshore OPP Detachment with the investigation.
