Fatal Pedestrian Collision

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in connection to a fatal collision investigation that occurred on Mayfield Road in August 2024.

On August 27, 2024, just before 1:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Mayfield Road, near McLauglin Road. The pedestrian, a 60-year-old of Brampton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mayfield Road between McLaughlin Road and Chinguacousy Road was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation.  

As part of the ongoing investigation conducted by the OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team with assistance from the Caledon OPP Major Crime Unit, a suspect was arrested on February 13, 2025.

A 16-year-old of Brampton has been charged with:

• Fail to stop at accident resulting in death

• Class G1 licence driver – unaccompanied by qualified driver

• Class G1 licence driver – drive at unlawful hour

The accused, whose identity is withheld under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville.

87 Year Old Pedestrian Fatally Run Down – Suspect Image Released

The Toronto Police Service is updating the public on a Personal Injury Collision investigation that is now a Fatal Collision.

On Thursday, January 9, 2025, at approximately 2:12 p.m., police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision in the Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area.

It is reported that:

  • a grey Volkswagen Atlas was travelling on Ashtonbee Road, east of Warden Avenue
  • the vehicle then turned into a shopping plaza
  • as the vehicle was travelling through the parking lot, it struck an 87-year-old woman
  • the vehicle then fled the scene
  • the victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, the woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Additional images of the suspect and suspect vehicle have been released.

The suspect is described as a female, with a slim build, and long dark hair. She was last seen wearing an orange jacket, blue shirt, dark-coloured pants, and dark-coloured shoes.

Police are asking local residents, business owners, and drivers who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision


Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigations Unit are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the City of Markham

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, shortly after 7 a.m., officers responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Markham Road and Golden Avenue.

When officers arrived, a 53-year-old man was located and found to have sustained severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle which remained at the scene.

The man was taken to a local hospital but was later airlifted to a nearby trauma centre. On Friday, December 20, 2024, the man succumbed to his injuries.

No charges have been laid at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time of the collision, to please come forward.

Pedestrain Struck In Hit & Run

On December 17th, 2024 at approximately 5:40 pm, a pedestrian was struck at Mountainview Road and Campbell Gate by a dark coloured SUV. The elderly pedestrian was rushed to Georgetown Hospital where they are listed in stable condition. The involved vehicle failed to remain and was last observed driving south on Mountainview Road away from the scene.

Any witnesses to this incident, or drivers with dashcam or operating Tesla motor vehicles who were in the area around that time, are asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747 ext. 5065

Pedestrian succumbs to injuries following motor vehicle collision

The Windsor Police Service is investigating the circumstances surrounding a motor vehicle collision in which a pedestrian died from their injuries.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on December 14, 2024, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Lauzon Parkway and Forest Glade Drive following a report of a motor vehicle collision. Through investigation, officers learned that a vehicle travelling eastbound on Forest Glade Drive struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the street.

The 43-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision – John O’Donnell Arrested

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, shortly after 10:14 AM, the Sarnia Police Service and Lambton Emergency Medical Services responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a pickup truck at the intersection of Christina Street and George Street in Sarnia.

Upon arrival, emergency responders determined that a 69-year-old male pedestrian from Sarnia had sustained severe injuries after being struck by the pickup truck. Tragically, the victim later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The Sarnia Police Service – Traffic Services Unit conducted a comprehensive investigation into the incident. As a result, John O’Donnell (47) of Plympton Township has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act. Mr. O’Donnell has been issued a Provincial Offences Summons and is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charge.

This tragic incident underscores the critical importance of road safety and its shared responsibility. The Sarnia Police Service urges all road users—both drivers and pedestrians—to exercise caution, particularly at high-risk areas such as intersections where pedestrian and vehicle interactions are frequent.
