Fatal Collision Involving Cyclist

(Town of the Blue Mountains, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the Technical Collision Investigators and Collision Reconstruction team are investigating a collision involving a motor vehicle and cyclist.

On January 9, 2025 just after 7:00 pm Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP with assistance of Grey County Paramedics responded to a report of a serious collision where a cyclist had been struck by a motor vehicle on Highway 26 between the Eleventh Line and Tenth Line in Thornbury.

Sadly, as result of the collision, a 59 year-old was confirmed deceased by a Doctor at Meaford Hospital. The involved motorist has been co-operative with police during the investigation.

A section of Highway 26 has been closed for several hours between the Eleventh Line and Tenth Line.

The investigation is ongoing.

Collision Claims Life Of Bluewater Resident

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A collision involving a snowmobile in the Municipality of Bluewater has claimed the life of a Bluewater resident. 

Just before 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 08, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and Bluewater Fire Department responded to a collision near Mill Road just west of Brucefield.

Upon arrival, emergency services located the involved snowmobile and lone operator in a farm field just south of Mill Road. The snowmobile operator was transported by Paramedics to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

The deceased is a 58-year-old resident of Bluewater. 

The cause of the collision is being investigated. Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are at the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Mill Road is currently closed between London Road and Airport Line for the investigation and will remain closed for several hours.

Fatal Collision

(COCHRANE, ON) – The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a train on Lillabelle Lake Road in Cochrane.

On January 7, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the James Bay OPP, the Cochrane Fire Department, and Timmins Ambulance (EMS) responded to the collision at the rail crossing on Lillabelle Lake Road.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 75-year-old Cochrane resident, was transported to local hospital by ambulance, and later pronounced deceased.

The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Lillabelle Lake Road is currently closed at the rail crossing between McWhirter Road and Concession 6&7. The closure is expected to remain in effect for an extended period as investigators process the scene.

Central Huron Resident Decased Following Collision

(HURON EAST, ON) – A two-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Huron East has claimed the life of a Central Huron resident. 

Just after 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 01, 2025, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and North Huron Fire Department responded to a collision on Blyth Road near Hensall Road in Huron East.

Upon arrival, emergency services located the involved vehicles; a sport utility vehicle and a truck hauling a cattle trailer. The lone driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second driver was not injured. Neither vehicle had passengers on board.

The deceased is a 32-year-old resident of Central Huron. 

Several cattle needed to be dispatched at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.

The cause of the collision is being investigated. Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are at the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Blyth Road (County Road 25) is currently closed between North Line and Turnbull Line for the investigation and will remain closed for several hours.

31 Year Old From Jasper Deceased Following Collision

(RIDEAU LAKES TWP., ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision just south of Smiths Falls.

Leeds County OPP officers and a member of the Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS), along with the Smiths Falls Fire Department and Lanark County Paramedic Service, responded to the single vehicle collision on County Road 29, shortly before 3:30 a.m. this morning (January 1, 2025).

A car had left the roadway, entered the ditch and struck a tree. It later caught fire. The lone occupant of the vehicle was removed from the car by a passerby and the SFPS officer. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as a 31-year-old man from Jasper.

The collision remains under investigation with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist.

Collison Takes Life Of 18 Year Old

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – A two-vehicle collision in Centre Wellington Township has claimed the life of a Centre Wellington Twp resident. 

Just after 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services, and Centre Wellington Fire Rescue responded to a collision on Wellington Road 21 near 4th Line East in Centre Wellington Township.

Upon arrival, emergency services located the involved vehicles; a passenger car and minivan which had collided head-on. The lone drivers were transported to a local hospital where one of the drivers was pronounced deceased. The second driver was later airlifted to Hamilton hospital for their injuries, which are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The deceased is an 18-year-old resident of Centre Wellington Twp. 

The cause of the collision is being investigated. Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are at the scene to assist with the collision investigation. County Road 21 at County Road 7 and County Road 21 at Sideroad 4 are currently closed for the investigation and will remain closed for several hours.

19 Year Old Deceased Following Snow Plow Collision

On December 23, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded alongside the St. Catharines Fire Department and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) for a motor vehicle collision on Glenridge Avenue, in the area between Lockhart Drive and John Macdonell Street in the City of St. Catharines.

Initial investigation has determined a Red Pontiac Vibe was travelling north on Glenridge Avenue when the vehicle lost control, crossing into the oncoming lane and collided with a snowplow travelling south on Glenridge Avenue.

Tragically, the driver of the Pontiac Vibe, a 19-year-old St. Catharines resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. The collision remains under investigation.

Witnesses to the collision and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera are encouraged to review their footage and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, badge 1009170 with any relevant information.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(SEGUIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Police were called to a single snowmobile collision which claimed the life of one person.

On December 22, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound Provincial Police (OPP) and the Parry Sound District Paramedic Services responded to a snowmobile collision near Millies Road in Seguin Township. 

The 30-year-old snowmobile operator from Whitby was pronounced deceased at the scene. The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team and Technical Collison Investigator (TCI) are continuing to investigate.  

The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS). A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place at a later time in Toronto.

Hwy 17 Open Following Fatal Collision

(MARATHON, ON) – The Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision.

On December 21, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Marathon OPP Detachment, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and passenger vehicle.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and passenger of the CMV were transported to hospital by EMS to be treated for minor injuries.

The OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Collision Re-Constructionists are assisting in the ongoing investigation.

On the 22nd of December 2024 at 2:00a.m. both lanes of Highway 17 were reopened.

Unidentified Female Killed In Collision – Sohaib Abdallah LOUNES Arrested

An unidentified female was fatally injured after a vehicle she was riding in lost control and left the roadway in Pickering.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., members from West Division responded to a collision involving a rolled over vehicle on Brock Road near Mowbray Street.  A black 2018 Audi sedan was southbound on Brock Road when it lost control, left the roadway and struck a large tree.  The vehicle had four occupants onboard and was driven by a 20-year-old male from Quebec.  Two of the occupants were ejected during the collision and rollover.

One of the occupants, a yet to be identified female, aged 18-22, was ejected and fatally injured as a result of the collision.  Police are currently attempting to identify the female.

The other two occupants were transported to a Toronto-area trauma center.  They are currently listed in serious but stable condition.

The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle, who also suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was later arrested for numerous offences.

Sohaib Abdallah LOUNES, age 20 from Quebec is charged with: Dangerous Operation Causing Death, Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm x2, Possession of Electronic Device for the Purpose of Committing Motor Vehicle Theft, and Possession of Break-and-Enter Instruments.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch – Collision Investigation Unit (CIU), attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Fatal Collision

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal three vehicle collision in Springwater Township.

On November 18, 2024, at approximately 6:30 a.m., members of the Huronia West OPP with assistance of Springwater Fire and Simcoe County EMS responded to a report of a serious collision involving three vehicles on Penetanguishene Road (Highway 93).

Sadly, as a result of the collision, a 46-year-old driver was confirmed deceased on scene by EMS. A 25-year-old driver in one of the other involved vehicles was transported to a local hospital as a precaution with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was released at the scene after being assessed by EMS with minor injuries.

A section of Penetanguishene Road (Highway 93) was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The road has since been reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.

Fatal Collision

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 5:40pm, 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Regional Road 20 and Regional Road 27 in the Town of West Lincoln for a single motor vehicle collision.   

Investigation revealed a 24-year-old male was operating an Audi A4 westbound on Regional Road 20 in the Town of West Lincoln when it lost control and struck a pole. 

Tragically the 24-year-old male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service and the office of the coroner.

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Intertownship Fire Department and Grey County Paramedic Services are on scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision.

18 Year Old Deceased Following Collision

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP Technical Collision Investigation team are continuing to investigate a fatal collision.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Renfrew OPP attended a collision involving a car and a transport truck on Highway 17 at Storyland Road.

The driver of the car, an 18-year-old male from Shawville, Quebec, was transported to hospital for life threatening injuries. He was later pronounced deceased at hospital.

The highway was closed for several hours to allow for the Technical Collision Investigator (OPP) and the Reconstructionist (OPP) to conduct the investigation.

3 Dead – 2nd Person Charged

(GODFREY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Frontenac County Crime Unit has charged a second person in connection with a fatal boating collision that happened on the evening of May 18, 2024, on Bobs Lake.

The collision, involving two boats, claimed the lives of three people and injured three others.

A 27-year-old male from South Frontenac Township, has now been charged with:

  • Failing to exhibit stern light on power-driven vessel underway
  • Failing to exhibit sidelights on power-driven vessel underway
  • Operating non-human-powered pleasure craft without personal flotation device or lifejacket of appropriate size for each person on board

The charges are for offences under the Canada Shipping Act of 2001.The accused will appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Kingston, on January 13, 2025.

The investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner, involved support from frontline officers, Collision Reconstructionists, as well as members of multiple OPP Crime Units, the Technical Collision Investigation Team, and Forensic Identification Services.

Criminal charges were recently laid against another individual in this case.
