18 Year Old Deceased – Snowmobile Collision

(PERTH EAST, ON) – An individual was pronounced deceased following a collision involving a single snowmobile that collided with a tree in the Township of Perth East.

On January 26th, 2025, members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Perth County Emergency Medical Services and Perth East Fire Department attended a collision on the trail near Perth Road 140.

The 18-year-old male driver and was transported to a local trauma centre where he was pronounced deceased.

The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club trail between Perth Road 135 and Road 140 was closed while the OPP Technical Collision Investigation were on scene investigating the collision. The trail has since been re-opened, but the investigation is ongoing.

Fatal Collision Update

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Middlesex County OPP investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision.

On January 22, 2025, at approximately 5:37 p.m., emergency services including members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Middlesex Centre Fire, were dispatched to Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre, for a two-vehicle collision.

Three individuals were transported to hospital with unknown injuries, where one of the individuals, a 37-year-old of London, was pronounced deceased.

Richmond Street was closed between Eight Mile and Nine Mile for the investigation.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

2 Deceased Following Collision

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a head-on collision, which resulted in the death of two people.

On January 23, 2025, shortly after 11:00 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

A 69-year-old-person from Wawa was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other people were transported by Air ORNGE with serious life-threatening injuries to a local hospital, where a 74-year-old person from Sault Ste. Marie, later succumb to their injuries. Three other people were treated at the scene with minor injuries.

The highway was closed in both directions for just over eight hours.

The investigation is still ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Traffic Collision Investigation Team to determine the cause of the collision.

3 Year Old & Father Killed In Collision

A three-year-old female and her father have died after being struck by a vehicle in Pickering.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., members from West Division were dispatched to the scene of a fail-to-remain collision at the intersection of Brock Road and Taunton Road in the City of Pickering.

A 39-year-old female from Pickering was operating her Nissan southbound through the intersection on a green light. A northbound Honda driven by a 40-year-old from Pickering turned left to go westbound on Taunton Road and struck the southbound Nissan.

The Honda continued westbound on Taunton Road for approximately 350 metres, where it left the roadway and struck a guardrail coming to a stop in the ditch.

The 40-year-old male exited his vehicle and removed his three-year-old daughter from the Honda. The male walked back up onto the roadway carrying his daughter and attempted to cross Taunton Road heading south where they were struck by a westbound BMW operated by a 52-year-old male from Ajax.

As a result of the collision, the 40-year-old male and his three-year-old daughter suffered serious life-threatening injuries. Durham EMS transported the male to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His 3-year-old daughter was taken by Durham EMS directly to a hospital in Toronto. On arrival at the hospital, the female was treated for her injuries however she passed away a short time later.

Members of the DRPS – Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene and investigated the circumstances of the incident. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. This collision is still under investigation.

Fatal Collision

Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(MOOSONEE, ON) – The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is conducting an investigation into a fatal motorized snow vehicle (MSV) collision.

On January 16, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., emergency services responded to a report of a single MSV rollover on Moose River. The James Bay OPP was assisted on the scene by the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS), Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) Ambulance, and Moose Factory Fire Rescue.

The driver, a 74-year-old resident of Moose Factory, suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital via ambulance. Despite medical efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased on January 19, 2025.

The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is supporting the ongoing investigation.

Fatal Collision – County Road 43

(NORTH GRENVILLE, ON) – Investigators are seeking dashcam video of a multi-vehicle collision east of Kemptville which left one person deceased.

It happened Friday, January 17, 2025, just after 5:30 p.m., on County Road 43 near Van Buren Street. An eastbound vehicle crossed the centre line, sideswiping one westbound vehicle and colliding head-on with a second westbound vehicle.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle, an 81-year-old man from Kemptville, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

County Road 43 remained closed until shortly after midnight for the on-scene investigation by Grenville OPP, with assistance by OPP Collision Reconstructionists and Technical Collision Investigation Team members

Fatal Hwy 11 Collision

(SMOOTH ROCK FALLS, ON) – The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 11 near Red Pine Road, approximately 5 km west of Smooth Rock Falls.  The collision involved a head-on crash between two commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).

On January 17, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the James Bay OPP, Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Smooth Rock Falls Fire Department responded to the collision.

One driver, a 57-year-old from Sainte-Eulalie, QC, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the second CMV suffered life threatening, life altering injuries and was transported to hospital via ambulance.

The OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team is assisting with this ongoing investigation.

Highway 11 was closed in both directions for approximately 16 hours but has since reopened as of 1:30 p.m.

Fatal Collision

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Police are investigating the circumstances of a fatal collision in Simcoe.

At approximately 9:37 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, along with Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a sedan on St. John’s Road West in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

The driver, a 37-year-old resident of Norfolk County, sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have confirmed that the driver was the individual who had been reported missing the day before from an address on Brown Street in Port Dover, Norfolk County.

St. John’s Road West, between Norfolk Street South and Hillcrest Road South, is expected to remain closed for several hours as the investigation continues.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on St. John’s Road West and witnessed the collision, or who has any relevant information, to contact Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

13 Year Old Cyclist Killed – One Arrested

Officers have laid charges against the driver involved in a fatal collision involving a 13-year-old cyclist in Ajax.

On Thursday, November 7, 2024, members from West Division were dispatched to a collision involving a cyclist and motor vehicle on Stevensgate Drive near Rossland Road West in Ajax.

It was reported that a black 2020 Hyundai Sante Fe was turning from Stevensgate Drive onto Rossland Road West when it struck a cyclist riding westbound through a marked crossride. The rider of the bicycle, a 13-year-old female from Ajax was fatally injured as a result of the collision.  The driver of the Hyundai was uninjured and remained on the scene. Police attended and conducted an investigation.

On Monday January 13th, 2025, the driver of the Hyundai was charged by police.  The driver, a 44-year-old female from Ajax was charged with Careless Driving Causing Death under the Highway Traffic Act.

Fatal 2 Vehicle Collision

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – A serious collision involving two vehicles on Old Highway 2, in the City of Quinte West, has left two people deceased.

 On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, around 3:45 p.m., officers with the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the collision near Quinte View Drive. 

One driver was pronounced deceased at scene. A passenger in that vehicle was pronounced deceased after being transported to hospital.

The second driver was transported to hospital with unknown injuries.  

Old Hwy 2, between RCAF Road and Whites Road, remains closed for the investigation. Members of the Technical Collision Investigation team and an OPP Collision Reconstructionist are assisting members of Quinte West OPP.

Fatal Collision

(WHITEWATER REGION, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer on Highway 17 in Whitewater Region Township.

On January 14, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., UOV OPP officers, Renfrew County paramedics and Whitewater Region firefighters responded to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 between Mountain Road and Sutherland Road. Preliminary investigation has found that a westbound passenger vehicle crossed into the lane of an eastbound tractor trailer. As a result of the collision the passenger vehicle caught fire. The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 22-year-old from North Algona- Wilberforce Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not seriously injured. 

The investigation is continuing in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. An OPP Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigator are also assisting with the investigation along with OPP Forensic Identification Services.

As a result of the collision Highway 17 is currently closed between Highway 41 and County Road 8 in Cobden with local detours in place. The closure is expected to last until midday.

Fatal Head-on Collision

(TWEED, ON) – A head-on collision on Highway 7 near Tweed has left one person deceased.

Officers with the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with members of the of the Tweed Fire Department and Hastings Quinte Paramedic Service, responded to the crash on Monday, January 13, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m. near Flinton Road, northeast of Tweed.

A car and tractor trailer had collided head-on, with the driver of the car being ejected from his vehicle. Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport did not suffer any serious physical injuries.

The deceased has been identified as a 61-year-old man from Peterborough.

The investigation by Central Hastings OPP into the collision continues, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team.

The highway reopened shortly before 9:00 p.m.

9 Year Old Fatally Ejected From Vehicle

(OAKVILLE, ON) – Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) Burlington Detachment are investigating a single vehicle rollover collision that occurred on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) westbound, approaching Burloak Drive in the Town of Oakville.   

On Monday, January 13, 2025, just after midnight, a pickup truck was travelling westbound on the QEW when it entered the ditch. The vehicle rolled before coming to rest upright. The driver, a 38-year-old from Hamilton was transported to hospital and remains there with serious injuries, a 9-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and transported to hospital without vital signs, he was pronounced deceased in hospital. Another 28-year-old passenger was not injured and remained at the scene.

Members of the HSD Traffic Support Unit are assisting with the investigation, the QEW westbound lanes were closed from Bronte Street for approximately six hours. The potential lack of seatbelt use is being investigated as a contributing factor in the collision.

Fatal ATV Collision

(NORTH DUNDAS, ON) – Members of the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Detachment of the Ontario Provincial police (OPP) are investigating a fatal All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) collision.

On January 12, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision involving an ATV near County Road 11 in North Dundas township. The 27-year-old male driver from Martintown was pronounced deceased at the scene. An 11-year-old passenger had no serious injuries but was transported to hospital.

The SD&G OPP continue to investigate with the assistance of OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and a collision Reconstructionist.
