Fatal Collision On Hwy 11


(NORTH BAY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision on Highway 11, Merrick Township, near Tilden Lake Road.

On March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., members of the North Bay OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles where a 52-year-old person of Kirkland Lake has died.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) unit. 

The highway was closed for approximately seven hours.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision Near Hwy 7

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire and EMS responded to a snowmobile collision on March 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

The collision occurred on private property, but due to the severity of the injuries ORNGE was required for the snowmobile operator.

Highway 7 near Cottingham Road was closed for ORNGE to land.

The lone snowmobile operator, a 50-year-old female of Peterborough, was pronounced deceased.  

Be Prepared: Snowmobiling incidents occur in unpredictable and uncontrolled natural settings where each rider needs to always expect the unexpected. Snowmobiling can take you far away from emergency assistance, so each rider must be prepared by carrying a tool kit, spare parts, flashlight, first-aid kit and survival items such as high-energy food, fire-starting equipment and a compass.

Pedestrian Dead – One Arrested & Facing Firearms Charges

Driver arrested after fatal collision with pedestrian


The Windsor Police Service has arrested a 28-year-old woman following a fatal motor vehicle collision that killed a pedestrian.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on March 8, 2025, police were dispatched to the 4700 block of Tecumseh Road East following a report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a rental moving truck drove onto the sidewalk, struck a pedestrian, and crashed into a commercial building.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The area was closed for several hours while members of the Windsor Police Collision Reconstruction and Forensic Identification Units processed the scene. During a search of the rental truck, officers located and seized a loaded firearm.

The driver was arrested and will face the following charges:

  • Possession of a loaded firearm
  • Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number
  • Possession of a firearm with no licence
  • Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
  • Occupying a motor vehicle with a prohibited device
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Careless storage of a firearm

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating an overnight fatal involving a snowmobile.

On March 7, 2025, just before 11:00 p.m., Orillia OPP, Simcoe County Paramedic Service and Severn Fire, were dispatched to St Amant Rd and Quarry Rd in Severn Township for a report of a crash involving a snowmobile. Upon arrival a 40-year-old male from Durham Region was identified and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario are assisting with the investigation.

34 Year Old Deceased Following Collision

(MAPLETOWN TWP, ON) – One individual has died as a result of the multi-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 12, Mapleton Township.

On March 6, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local emergency services were called to a multi-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 12 between Wellington Road 45 and Wellington Road 86.

As a result of the collision, a 34-year-old from Mapleton Township was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team and the West Region OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) Team and Reconstruction are assisting Wellington OPP with the investigation.

While on scene, it was discovered that there were three separate collisions on the same roadway, totaling eight motor vehicles involved.

As a result of the collision and poor weather conditions, Wellington Road 12 has been closed from Wellington Road 86 to Wellington Road 8. Unknown timeline of when the roads will be reopened at this time.

Fatal Collision On Hwy 7

(DRUMMOND-NORTH ELMSLEY TWP, ON) – A head-on collision on Highway-7, just east of Innisville, has left one person dead.

Officers with the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Drummond/North Elmsley/Tay Valley Fire Rescue and Lanark County Paramedics were called to the scene on Highway-7 near White Road, shortly after 5:00 a.m. on March 5, 2025.

 A westbound SUV and an eastbound tractor trailer had collided in the eastbound lane.

A 54-year-old man from Ottawa was pronounced deceased at the scene. He had been alone in the car. The driver of the transport was not seriously injured.

 The investigation is continuing, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team.

Fatal Collision

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision that resulted in the loss of one life.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment, alongside the Brant County Fire Department and Brant-Brantford Paramedic Services, responded to a collision involving a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a sedan on Colborne Street West in Brant County.

As a result, the 25-year-old driver of the sedan, a Brant County resident, sustained severe, life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Colborne Street West, between Highway 24 and McGregor Avenue, was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and is asking anyone who was travelling on Colborne Street West and witnessed the collision, or who has any relevant information, to contact Brant County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Fatal Collision

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Friday February 21, 2025, members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to a serious collision on Highway 7 between Keene Road and Burnham Line.

The collision involved an eastbound tractor trailer and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that had turned out from a business on the south side of Highway 7, attempting to cross over to the westbound lanes. The eastbound tractor trailer was unable to stop in time and collided with the driver’s side of the SUV. The driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle. Witnesses came to the aid of the driver until EMS and Fire arrived on scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 76-year-old male from Lakefield, was transported to a local hospital and was later transported by ORNGE Air to a trauma centre in Toronto.

On Saturday March 1, 2025, due to the extent of the injuries sustained, the 76-year-old driver of the SUV was pronounced as deceased. The Peterborough County OPP would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(IGNACE, ON) At approximately 12:05 am on March 1st, 2025, Ignace OPP attended a collision involving a single motorized snow vehicle (MSV) on the OFSC trail in the Township of Ignace.

Members of the Ignace Volunteer Fire Department, Northwest EMS and the OPP North West Region T.I.M.E. Team (Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement) attended.

A 25-year-old was pronounced deceased on scene.

The OFSC Trail remained closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene.

Fatal Collision

(NIPIGON, ON) – On March 3rd, 2025, at approximately 6:20 p.m., members of the Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Fire & Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of a collision involving two motor vehicles along Highway 17, just east of Terrace Bay.

One individual has been pronounced deceased as a result of the collision. Two other individuals have been transported to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with serious injuries.

Highway 17 remains closed and the OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Technical Collision Re-Constructionists are assisting in the investigation.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(SUNDRIDGE, ON) – A person is deceased after a collision involving a Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) on an Ontario Federation Snowmobile Clubs trail (OFSC).

On February 28, 2025, approximately 10:15 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Parry Sound District Paramedics Service and Sundridge Fire Department responded to a single MSV collision on OFSC trail #NN415, in the Village of Sundridge.

A 54-year-old-person from Norfolk, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and an OPP Technical Collision Investigator (TCI).

 The OFSC trail has been re-opened to snowmobilers.

Fatal Collision

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) – One person is deceased as a result of a motor vehicle collision.

On February 28, 2025, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and local emergency services responded to a three-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 51, near Ariss.

The collision involved two pick-up trucks and a sedan. As a result, one of the drivers was pronounced deceased on scene. No other injuries were reported.

Wellington Road 51 is currently closed between Fourth Line and Sixth Line and it is anticipated that the roadway will remain closed for the next 6 hours while officers continue to investigate.

OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team are assisting with the investigation.

Fatal Collision

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision in the east end of Ottawa.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m. on February 25, a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 417 by Anderson Road had driven into the center median. The driver then exited their vehicle and attempted to walk across the highway, where they were struck by another vehicle travelling eastbound. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP Collision Reconstructionists attended the scene to conduct their investigation. The highway was shut down to allow for the investigation to take place but has since re-opened.

OPP are asking that if there are any members of the public who might have witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage, to please call 1-888-310-1122 and reference case number E250229726.

The OPP would like to remind members of the public that if you are in a collision, it is the safest option to remain in your vehicle and wait until emergency crews arrive. Do not attempt to walk across the highway.

1 Dead: Milton URGILES Arrested & Sentenced

(NEW TECUMSETH) – On September 22, 2020, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single commercial motor vehicle collision on Townline Road, in the Town of New Tecumseth, between Concession 2 and Concession 3.

Officers located a commercial motor vehicle in the ditch. The vehicle had been travelling northbound on Townline Road when it lost control and collided with a tree in the west side ditch. Townline Road was closed between the 2nd and 3rd Concessions for several hours. 

The driver of the vehicle succumbed to the injuries as a result of the crash.

Upon further investigation, it was found that the supervisor and manager of the company who owned the Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR) for the involved commercial motor vehicle, failed to properly maintain the vehicle that resulted in a mechanical failure ultimately leading to the collision.

As a result, on May 4, 2021, the company owner the Milton URGILES 48-years-old of Etobicoke was charged with the following:

  • Causing Death by Criminal Negligence.

On July 20, 2024, the accused was found guilty of Causing Death by Criminal Negligence.

On February 18, 2025, the accused was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment.

Fatal Collision – 36 Year Old Deceased

(LAMBTON COUNTY, ON) – A collision in Lambton County has resulted in the death of one individual.

On Friday February 21, 2025, at approximately 9:05 p.m., members of the Lambton County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Lambton County Fire Services and Lambton County Paramedic Services were called to a single motorized snow vehicle collision near Highway 40 and Holt Line in St. Clair Township.

The lone rider, a 36-year-old resident of Wallaceburg was taken to hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) are assisting Lambton OPP with the investigation.
