Brooke BLAIR – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police stopped a vehicle on Laprairie Crescent for not having lights on.

On June 29, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol when the vehicle stop was conducted. The driver was spoken to who exhibited signs of impairment by alcohol.  They were subsequently arrested and charged and the vehicle was towed and impounded.  

Brooke BLAIR, 22-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 15, 2024.

Mahmud BADHON Was Arrested

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment located and investigated a vehicle after a Good Samaritan reported a traffic complaint in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 12:50 p.m., members of the Elgin County OPP located the vehicle travelling more than 65km/h over the posted speed limit and stopped the vehicle on the eastbound Highway 401 near the 102-Kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chatham Kent Police Service for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Mahmud BADHON, a 24-year-old from Windsor was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
  • Follow too closely
  • Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on July 22, 2024.

The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the individual who contacted police and reported this incident. As a direct result, officers were able to safely locate the vehicle and take the driver into custody.

Misty Hilts Was Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended Emily Provincial Park at approximately 9:30 p.m. last night to assist the Park Wardens with a disturbance coming from one of the campsites.

Once officers arrived on scene and spoke with multiple witnesses, the person of interest returned to their campsite in their vehicle. The investigating officer entered an impaired driving investigation.

45-year-old, Misty Hilts from Hiawatha First Nations was arrested and charged with

  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Misty was released from custody with a future court date and served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Sage MIGWANS Arrested Following Collision

(AUNDECK OMNI KANING FIRST NATION, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for impaired driving after police responded to a single vehicle collision.

On June 27, 2024, shortly before 10:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol on Highway 540 when police observed two pedestrians standing on the shoulder of the highway looking into the ditch. Police observed a vehicle in the ditch and stopped to speak with the pedestrians.

There were no injuries reported and upon speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, police were able to determine who was driving and that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Sage MIGWANS, 20-years-old from Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on July 30, 2024.

Prabhjot RANDHAWA: Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with over three times the legal limit with impaired operation.

On June 25, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., Caledon OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver on Old School Road. Officers located the vehicle. Officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Prabhjot RANDHAWA, 53, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on July 11, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Sukhwinder SINGH Was Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a collision with impaired operation.

On June 24, 2024, shortly after 8:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision between a passenger vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle in the intersection of Airport Road and Charleston Sideroad, in the Town of Caledon. Minor injuries were sustained. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver of the passenger vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Justin LACOSSE Was Arrested

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

On June 25, 2024, shortly after 10:00 p.m. members of the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check on Highway 69 in Carling Township. Officers stopped a vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Justin LACOSSE, 30 years-of-age of Parry Sound Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 15, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The West Parry Sound OPP would like to remind the public to call 911 should they suspect impaired driving.

Peter BACK: Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – An Elliot Lake resident was charged with impaired after an early morning complaint at a downtown parking lot. 

On June 25, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of man drinking in his car at a grocery store parking lot. Police located the man in the driver’s seat of his vehicle and beer under the seat. He was subsequently arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Peter BACK, 65-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 15, 2024.

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 15, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Donald WILSON Was Arrested

(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP,ON) – Numerous calls at approximately 4:22 p.m. June 22, 2024 to the OPP Communication Centre reporting a south bound highway 400 vehicle had gone off the roadway into the ditch resulted in a member of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment being dispatched to the Port Severn area to locate the occupants of the vehicle.

The officer was able to locate the three occupants including a child, who were not injured but the identified driver became the subject of an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation Orillia resident Donald WILSON 42 years of age has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

And Further with the following Provincial Offences

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 4, 2024, was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Ted DIETSCH Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On June 21, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment responded to a call for service of a possible impaired driver on Government Street, in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment for further testing.

Ted DIETSCH, 32-years-old, of Dryden, has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation while impaired -alcohol and drugs

The accused have been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on July 22, 2024.

Trisha RENNIE Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On June 21, 2024, at approximately 8:00 a.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in the Municipality of Machin after observing it to be travelling at a high rate of speed.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle was intoxicated by drugs or alcohol and was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to Dryden detachment for further testing.

Trisha RENNIE, 43-years-old, of Regina, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·         Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·         Speeding 1-49 Km/h over posted limit

·         Fail to surrender insurance card

·         Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·         Fail to stop on right for emergency vehicle

·         Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on August 26, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three drivers with impaired operation related offences over the weekend.

On June 22, 2024, just before 5:00 a.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a possible impaired driver in the area of HWY 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect registered a PASS at the roadside. The original complainant also stopped to have a brief conversation with police. During the conversation officers were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation. 

David NEVETT, a 31-year-old male, from Orangeville has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On June 23, 2024, just after 3:15 a.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot-check in the area of Owen Sound Street in the Town of Shelburne. A vehicle drove directly through their RIDE program. Officers were able to locate the driver at a nearby complex and were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation. 

Brianna-Lee YOUNG, a 25-year-old female, from Mount Forest has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On June 23, 2024, just before 1:30 p.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP responded to a call for service in the area of Montgomery BLVD in the Town of Orangeville. Officers located the suspect and were led into an impaired operation investigation. 

Shawn CLAPHAM, a 47-year-old male, from Kitchener has been charged with:

•      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(CLARENCE – ROCKLAND & THE NATION, ON) – Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two motorists for impaired driving.

On June 22, 2024, shortly after 03:15 a.m., officers in Clarence – Rockland initiated an impaired driving investigation after a motorist attended the detachment with a vehicle that had noticeable damage to both the passenger and driver sides.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and brought into detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, 63-year-old, Gregory Perrin, from Ottawa, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC

Once again, on June 22, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Lemieux Road in The Nation Township. After arriving on scene officers arrested the driver for impaired driving and brought him back to detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, 59-year-old, Sylvain Lefebvre, of Bourget, Ontario, was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC

The motorists both received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Dog Dead – Drunk Driver Arrested

(MALAHIDE, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Thomas Detachment, has charged an individual following a collision investigation.

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 8:20 a.m., members of the Elgin OPP (St. Thomas Detachment), Malahide Fire Services, and Elgin-St. Thomas Emergency Medical Services responded to a two-vehicle “T-Bone” collision investigation on Talbot Line near Walker Road, Township of Malahide.

One passenger vehicle was occupied by a lone drive that was extricated from the vehicle by Malahide Fire Services and transported to a local trauma centre by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.

A driver and a dog occupied the other vehicle. The driver reported being uninjured and denied assessment by EMS on scene. The dog was fatally injured as a result of the collision.

While speaking to the uninjured driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Elgin County Detachment for further testing.

While in custody at the St. Thomas OPP Detachment the individual refused to provide a breath sample.

As a result of the investigation, Aidan MCCOMB, a 27-year-old from Aylmer was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal with demand

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on August 6, 2024.
