Connor Mehnert – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on September 22, 2024.

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 00:56 a.m., officers conduced a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Country Road 36 near Gil-Mar Road. Through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences.

Connor Mehnert, 20-year-old of Dunsford, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Young Driver – BAC above zero
  • Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.

Head On Collision – John MAGILL Arrested For Drunk Driving

(LOYALIST TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired driving related offences.

On September 20, 2024, just before 5:00 p.m., officers responded to a call of a two vehicle collision on Thorpe Road in Loyalist Township. The fire department and paramedic services were also called to the scene. There were two involved vehicles that collided head on with each other. There was only the drivers in each vehicle. A female driver was transported to hospital by paramedic services with minor injuries. Officers subsequently arrested the other Male driver who did not sustain any injuries for impaired driving and was transported back to the Napanee detachment for further testing.

As a result, John MAGILL, age 66, of Odessa was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
  • Operation causing bodily harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on October 8, 2024.

Kevin BAIRD Facing Numerous Charges

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) – The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested an individual for impaired operation on a waterway.

On September 22, 2024, officers were conducting marine patrol duties on the Trent River, a portion of the Trent Severn Waterway system. At approximately 4:00 p.m., police spoke with the occupants of a 17-foot metal hulled boat which was underway north of Hickory Island, Trent Hills.

There were four occupants on board and officers observed a quantity of unsealed cans of liquor. Police conducted safety checks and the operator at the helm was unable to produce a buoyant heaving line or an operable waterproof flashlight. There were no lifejackets on the vessel.

Upon speaking with the operator, OPP were led into an impaired operation investigation. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made which was complied with by the individual. As a result, the accused was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Remaining passengers were provided with personal flotation devices and brought to shore by an operator who had a valid pleasure craft operator card.

Kevin BAIRD, 28-years-old, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Operating boat underway with unsealed container of liquid

–      Operating non-human powered pleasure craft without prescribed vessel safety equipment on board

–      Permitting person to operate non-human powered pleasure craft without personal flotation device or lifejacket of appropriate size for each person.

The accused is due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date and was served with a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation guidelines.

Jordan DESILETS – Drunk Driving

(SUDBURY, ON) – One person was arrested and charged after police responded to a single motor vehicle collision.

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 7:07 a.m., the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle in a ditch on Highway 144, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

No injuries were reported when police attended the scene and arrested the driver for impaired driving, then transported the driver to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jordan DESILETS, 30-years-of-age, from Rayside-Balfour, was charged with, operation while impaired – alcohol and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 16, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Peter NANTICOKE – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and investigated a vehicle after a Good Samaritan reported a traffic complaint in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

On September 21, 2024, at approximately 12:05 a.m., members of the Elgin OPP, Chatham Detachment, located the vehicle travelling more than 65km/h over the posted speed limit on westbound Highway 401 near Communication Road.

The investigating officer stopped the vehicle on Communication Road after it exited the Highway and the driver was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Peter NANTICOKE, a 53-year-old from Ohsweken was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on October 21, 2024.

The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the individual who contacted police and reported this incident. As a direct result, officers were able to safely locate the vehicle and take the driver into custody.

Michael MCGARROCH – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge as a result of OPP RIDE Program.

On September 20, 2024, at 11:55 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were engaged in a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in the Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at Wellington Road in the City of London.

A vehicle entered the program at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Michael MCGARROCH, a 27-year-old of Tillsonburg, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 6, 2024.

Allan MACDONALD – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on September 19, 2024, after a motor vehicle was reported as being in the ditch.

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 8:37 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle located in the ditch on Simcoe Street, Mariposa Township. Upon arrival officers confirmed there were no injuries and through investigation a driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

Allan MACDONALD, 67-year-old of Woodville, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one male with impaired operation related offences.

On September 19, 2024, shortly after 2:30 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Highway 9 in the Town of Mono. Officers spoke with the driver and were led into an impaired driving investigation.

Pavan JHOOTTI, a 38-year-old male, from Caledon has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•     Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•     Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for 7 days.

David Palmer – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on County Road 8, Fenelon Township.

On September 18, 2024, at 11:07 p.m., officers conducted a RIDE Program on County Road 8 in Fenelon Township. A motor vehicle approached the officers conducting the program where an odor of alcohol was found to be emitting from the driver. Through investigation the driver was arrested and charged with impaired driving offences.

David Palmer, 59-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The above mentioned is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date.

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one male with impaired operation related offences.

On September 17, 2024, shortly after 4:15 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Willoughby Road in the Town of Caledon. Officers arrived on scene and were led into an impaired driving investigation.

Justin COPELAND, a 36-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•     Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for 7 days.

Matthew ARMSTRONG – Drunk Driving

(NIPIGON, ON) – On the 1st day of September 2024 at approximately 3:30am, officers from the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11&17, in the Township of Nipigon.

The driver lost control of the vehicle near the entrance to Best Towing and went into the ditch causing damage to hydro poles and trees before stopping. Officers took physical control of the driver who was attempting to flee the scene.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Matthew ARMSTRONG, 19 years, of Thunder Bay was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon Court.

Chad THIBERT Was Arrested

(SUDBURY, ON) – One person was arrested and charged after a vehicle ran a stop sign in front of a marked cruiser.

On September 14, 2024, at approximately 5:40 p.m., the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle, which failed to stop at a stop sign at Lavallee Road, in the City of Greater Sudbury.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

A search of the vehicle located a digital scale, and drugs suspected to be Methamphetamine.

As a result of the investigation, Chad THIBERT, 33 years-of-age, from Chelmsford, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Traffick in schedule I substance – Methamphetamines
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 9, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Dustin Christopher Martin DOUGALL Was Arrested – Details Released

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers in impaired driving related investigations.

On September 16, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Arnprior officers responded to a driving complaint on John Street North, in the Town of Arnprior. When officers arrived, they located an individual in a vehicle. Officers spoke to the driver and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The accused was subsequently arrested.

Investigation revealed the driver to be more than two times the legal alcohol limit.

As a result, Robert Ronald HABECKER, age 46 from Calgary, Alberta was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On September 16, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Renfrew officers responded to a report of threats in the Town of Renfrew. Officers quickly located the suspect on Raglan Street and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Dustin Christopher Martin DOUGALL, age 29, of Renfrew was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Uttering threats- cause death or bodily harm

·      Trespassing at night

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.

Dylan Stroud – Drunk Driving

(ESSA, ON)- Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a multiple motor vehicle collision in a residential area.

On September 16, 2024, at 9:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of a dark-colored pickup truck that had collided with several parked cars on Margaret Street in Angus. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver had fled the scene. By tracing the debris and damage along the roadway, they were able to locate the vehicle. The driver was found inside the truck and subsequently taken into custody.

Dylan Stroud of Angus was subsequently charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol or drugs
  • Operation while Impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to Remain
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford at a later court date. The driver is facing a 90-day licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Sevag BOYAJIAN – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a person with impaired operation following complaints from members of the public.

On September 16, 2024, at approximately 3:10 p.m., police received a complaint from a member of the public regarding the driver of a pick-up truck unable to maintain their lane travelling westbound on Highway 401 in the Township of Hamilton. Another complaint was recorded regarding erratic driving of the same vehicle.

Police located the vehicle matching the description provided and a traffic stop was conducted. Officers spoke to the driver and entered into an impaired operation investigation. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests. Cannabis and open liquor was located in the vehicle. Through investigation, the accused was also driving under license of another jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario.

Sevag BOYAJIAN, a 38-years-old, from British Columbia, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Driving under licence of other jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario

–      Have care or control of vehicle while cannabis readily available

–      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
