Joseph THOMAS – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after member of the public reports a traffic complaint.

On October 7, 2024, at 2:07 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Oakwood Ave. in the Municipality of Lakeshore

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result, Joseph THOMAS, a 45-year-old of Lakeshore, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 1, 2024.

Joseph O’BRIEN – Drunk Driving

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On October 4, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting a RIDE checkpoint in Paisley. At approximately 10:23 p.m., police stopped a vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver. 

As a result of the investigation, Joseph O’BRIEN, 35-years-old, from the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Jennifer KRUPA – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged following an investigation into an impaired driving incident in Simcoe.

At approximately 6:05 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a two-vehicle collision on Norfolk Street North in Simcoe, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

As a result, one of the drivers was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 39-year-old Jennifer KRUPA of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Careless driving.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.

Maureen BERUBE – Drunk Driving

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A person was charged after police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 108, south of Elliot Lake

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle crash approximately ten kilometers south of Elliot Lake. A small northbound Sport-Utility Vehicle (SUV) failed to negotiate a curve and collided with the guard rails, causing air bags to deploy. Algoma Paramedic Services were on scene and assessed the driver. Police also spoke to the driver who exhibited obvious signs of impairment. Furthermore, an empty bottle of wine and cans of beer were located inside the SUV. The driver was later arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.  

Maureen BERUBE, 58-years-old, from Garson was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 12, 2024.

Patrick FLUKIGER – Drunk Driving

(LAMBTON, ON) – Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On October 6, 2024, shortly after 8:25 p.m., members of the Lambton County OPP conducted a traffic stop to check sobriety of the driver at a RIDE checkpoint on Main Street in Forest.

As a result of the investigation, Patrick FLUKIGER, 31-year-old of Wyoming, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 28, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charge.

Recordo BARRETT – Drunk Driving

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers have removed and charged a Southgate resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On October 6, 2024, just before 6:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Highway 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers located the vehicle and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Recordo BARRETT, 66-year-old male, from Dundalk has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Possess more than one licence

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

Brody HARVIE Arrested Following Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On October 6, 2024, at approximately 12:40 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Haldimand Road 9, near Hagersville.

The investigation determined that a vehicle left the roadway at that location.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the driver, and it became apparent they had consumed alcohol.

The individual was placed under arrest and transported to an OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, 25-year-old Brody HARVIE of Selkirk has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Driver Fail to Surrender Licence

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on October 29, 2024.

Whitney GALLANT – Drunk Driving Etc.

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on October 4, 2024, following a single motor vehicle collision in Mariposa Township.

On October 4, 2024, at approximately 3:57 p.m., officers responded to Port Hoover Road, Mariposa Township, for a single motor vehicle collision along with members from Kawartha Lakes Fire Service and Kawartha Lakes Paramedics. The driver was not injured and through investigation was arrested for impaired driving offences.

Whitney GALLANT, 37-year-old of Little Britain, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to stop

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.

Parth VORA – Drunk Driving

(Orillia, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a male with impaired operation.

On October 5, 2024, at about 21:00 p.m., an officer from the Orillia OPP Detachment was proactively patrolling Highway 11 North Bound at Menoke Beach Rd and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the male driver police entered into an impaired investigation resulting in the request of an Approved Screening Device (ASD). As a result, a failure was registered, and the driver was arrested.

Parth VORA, 26-years-old, from North York has been charged with:

CC 320.14(1)(a) Adult Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

CC 320.14 (1)(b) Adult Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in October 2024. As a result of these charges, her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(MIDLAND,ON) – Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were tasked to investigate a number of impaired driving complaints over the past week, either reported by community members to the OPP Communication Centre or simply by officers uncovering incidents during their patrol of our communities. The following are those investigated incidents.

An officer patrolling on Overhead Bridge Road, Penetanguishene at approximately 12:40 a.m. September 28, 2024 observed a vehicle that had left the roadway into a treed area. The officer located an uninjured male driver and passenger with a Toyota Rave with Ontario plate CBEP887 and upon speaking with driver the officer commenced an impaired driving investigation.

Further investigation at detachment employing an OPP Drug Recognition Expert officer has resulted in Kristopher INESON 50 years of age of Wasaga Beach being charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 10, 2024 and was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension along with a 7-day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Officers attended the area of Smiths Camp, Midland after OPP Communication Centre received numerous complaints of the driving actions of a male operating a silver Dodge Ram with Ontario plate BK33500 at approximately 5:39 p.m. September 28, 2024. This investigation is still ongoing and officers wish to thank those community members who contacted the police in this investigation.

On September 30, 2024 at approximately 1:19 p.m. a community member observed a silver Nissan with Ontario plate DARV776 stopped at the Baxter Community Centre with the driver slumped over the steering wheel and contacted police.

Officers attended the location to observe the vehicle being operated in the area of the community centre, stopping the vehicle and spoke to the lone driver. An impaired driving investigation was commenced at the scene which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine, heroin, cannabis along with associated drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency (see attached photograph).

As a result of this investigation Isaiah DISTEFANO 26 years of age of Barrie has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court (two counts)

And Further with the following drug offences

  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place
  • Possession of illicit cannabis
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule IV substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

And Further with the following Provincial Offences violations

  • Fail to have insurance card
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
  • Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt

The accused was held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date. The impaired driving investigation is continuing awaiting a forensic analysis report.

On October 2, 2024 at approximately 7:06 a.m. Southern Georgian Bay Detachment officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver behind the steering wheel of a white and black Mini Cooper in the Huronia Mall, Midland parking lot. The vehicle was stopped by dispatched officer at 7:07 a.m. and located the driver slumped over the steering wheel. The officer was able to awaken the driver who was known to officer and attempted to flee the scene once out of the car. An impaired driving investigation was commenced at the scene resulting in the seizure of an edged weapon and a quantity of drugs believed to be fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

The investigating officer was assisted by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer with the Impaired Operation investigation. The Mini Cooper vehicle used in the incident had been reported stolen at 12:41 a.m. October 2, 2024 from a Hugel Avenue, Midland residence and as a result of this investigation a number of criminal driving, property related charges have been issued to 31 year old Penetanguishene male. (Previous release dated October 3, 2024)

During the time of this report, officers in the interest of enhancing road safety conducted 15 separate reduce impaired driving everywhere (R.I.D.E.) programs checking 150 drivers for signs of impairment.

Adrianna LAWLOR – Drunk Driving

(PICTON, ON) – A traffic complaint for a possible impaired driver has led to impaired driving charges in Prince Edward County.

On October 3, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Paul Street in Prince Edward County. Officers located the vehicle and spoke to the driver. Further investigation led to an approved screening device being administered.

As a result of the investigation, Adrianna LAWLOR, age 33, from Metcalfe, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 23, 2024. They also had their driver’s license suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Nicholas CARRABS – Drinking & Driving

(TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has seized a weapon after responding to a report of an impaired driver in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

On October 3, 2024, at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Huronia West OPP received a report of an individual, who appeared to be intoxicated, leave a local store and drive along 45th Street South and Knox Road.

Police patrolled the area and located the vehicle matching the complainant’s description. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was arrested. During the investigation, officers discovered four open beer cans in the vehicle, along with a baton, which was seized.

As a result, Nicholas CARRABS, a 36-year-old from Stayner, was charged with:

  • Operation While Prohibited
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Windshield obstructed
  • Fail to produce permit
  • Novice driver – B.A.C above zero
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on November 11, 2024. Their driver’s licence was suspended for three days, and their vehicle has been impounded for 45 days.

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Leamington Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On October 4, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a member of the Leamington OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on Maskew Street, Municipality of Leamington after observing a Highway Traffic Act violation.

As a result of the investigation, Jonhy ESCOBAR-FLORES a 39-year-old from Leamington has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day drivers licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on October 16, 2024.

Keghan LEPARD Was Arrested

 (Orillia, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual with impaired operation related charges.

On October 3, 2024, at about 9:50 p.m., an officer from the Orillia OPP was proactively patrolling the area of Colborne St. E in the City of Orillia and conducted a traffic stop having observed a motor vehicle driving aggressively. The resulting investigation led the officer to determine that the driver of the vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The individual was then arrested.

As a result, Keghan LEPARD, 23-years-old, from Ramara has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Adult Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Adult No clear view to front

·      Adult Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

·      Adult Drive with windshield coated – view obstructed

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in November 2024. As a result of these charges, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

Mark LOVEGROVE – Drunk Driving

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – Officers from the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a complaint of a suspicious vehicle.     

On October 2, 2024, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Huntsville OPP responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle near Muskoka Road 10 in the community of Port Sydney. Police attended and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested. 

As a result Mark LOVEGROVE, 37, from the Town of Huntsville, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day license suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
