Hanover Police Withhold Name Of Drunk Driver

On Friday, December 6th, 2024, Hanover Police received a report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle on 10th Street and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was subsequently arrested and provided samples of her breath which were over the legal limit of alcohol. Police have charged a 29-year-old Ayton woman under the Criminal Code with Impaired Driving and Over 80mgs of Alcohol. Her license has been suspended for 90-days and her vehicle impounded. She was released with an upcoming court date in Walkerton.

Jesse SIMPSON From South Huron Was Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with an Impaired driving offence following a traffic stop in Exeter, Municipality of South Huron on December 19, 2024. 

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, Huron County OPP stopped a vehicle on Main Street South in Exeter. Police discovered that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Jesse SIMPSON, 25 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Control Act.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 20, 2025.

Darrick DEBOER – Drunk Driving

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – A 52-year-old from the County of Brant has been arrested after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment members responded to a traffic complaint early Saturday morning in the County of Brant.

On Saturday December 21, 2024, at approximately 12:16 a.m., Brant County OPP responded to a traffic complaint in Paris. The caller observed driving behaviour that caused them to be concerned and contacted police. Police located the vehicle at a residence on Catherine Street where one person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.

Police have charged 52-year-old Darrick DEBOER from the County of Brant with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario on January 6, 2025.

Claude Johnson – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle in the ditch on County Road 36.

On December 20,2024, at 10:04 p.m., officers were dispatched after a motor vehicle had been located on County Road 36 in the ditch. Witnesses at the scene provided information that the driver of the vehicle had taken off on foot and was no longer at the scene. Responding officers located the driver a short distance away from the vehicle.

Through investigation, Claude Johnson, 45-year-old from Peterborough was arrested and charged with

–      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear later in court.

Hit & Run & Drunk Driving – Abdul Hakimy

(Kingston, ON) – A driver on highway 401 caused a collision with a tractor trailer, then failed to stay at the scene, and resulted in charges for impaired driving.

Around 08:30 am on December 21, 2024 Frontenac detachment members were called to a vehicle collision on the eastbound side of highway 401, near the highway 15 exit. A driver in an SUV had sideswiped a tractor trailer traveling the same direction, causing it to roll over into the ditch. The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The trailer was loaded with synthetic rubber, and spilled into the ditch, requiring extensive clean-up.

Witnesses stopped to assist the driver of the tractor trailer, including removing the windshield to free the injured driver. The driver of the SUV continued along the highway with a damaged vehicle.

Another witness followed the vehicle until it exited at the next off ramp of Joyceville road, who then called police to report it. Officers arrived shortly after and located the driver attempting to change a flat tire on the damaged SUV, and continued investigation determined the driver to be impaired. An arrest was made for further breath testing at detachment.

Abdul Hakimy, a 53-year-old male, from Oshawa has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
  • Fail to remain at scene of collision.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Kingston on February 4, 2025.

Kimberely STEWART – Drunk Driving

(Prince Edward County, ON) – A traffic complaint has resulted in impaired charges.

On December 21, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 33 in Prince Edward County.

Officers located the vehicle and driver at the intersection of Highway 33 and County Road 3. The driver was treated for minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Kimberely STEWART, age 55, from Prince Edward County, was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol

· Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

· Dangerous Operation

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 8, 2025. They were also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

David MARSHALL – Drunk Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged the operator of an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with Impaired Driving in Bracebridge.

On December 17, 2024 just after 4:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting proactive patrols on Frederick Street in Bracebridge, ON and conducted a traffic stop involving an ATV after noticing safety equipment missing. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged 62-year-old David MARSHALL of Bracebridge, ON with Impaired Operation- Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 7, 2025 to answer to his charge.

Graham HOUGHTON – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after police stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation in Temiskaming Shores.

 On December 14, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were on patrol and observed a traffic violation at the intersection of Whitewood Avenue and Paget Street South in Temiskaming Shores. OPP initiated a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of the driver for impaired. The driver was then transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

Graham HOUGHTON, 31 years-of-age, from Haileybury, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)
  • Red light – fail to stop

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 14, 2025.

Jordan HALL – Drunk Driving

(CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges.

On December 17, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers were conducting general patrols in Clearview Township, in the area of County Road 10 and Concession Road 12. The officer was alerted to an expired license plate and conducted a traffic stop.

While engaging with the driver, the officer noticed the driver showing signs of impairment which led into an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Jordan HALL, 29-year-old of Collingwood, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

MEAWASIGE – Drunk Driving

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A routine traffic stop for a suspended driver ended with criminal charges for an impaired driver. 

On December 17, 2024, shortly after 10:30 am, a member of the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after receiving an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) hit that the registered owner was suspended. 

Investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Thunder Bay Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.    

Leon MEAWASIGE, 41-years-old, from Thunder Bay is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was also charged with:

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance – contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

·      Driving while under suspension – contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused had his driver’s licence suspended and the vehicle was impounded. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Thunder Bay Ontario Court of Justice on January 22, 2025, to answer to the criminal charges.

This year’s Festive RIDE Campaign runs from November 21, 2024 to January 1, 2025. Citizens are reminded to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or taking drugs, and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed either.

50 Year Old From Dundalk Arrested

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation for having a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) of over three times the legal limit.

On December 16, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., an officer patrolling Highway 10 in Caledon came across a vehicle stopped at a green light at the intersection of Old School Road. A traffic stop was conducted. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Damanjit DHUR, 50, of Dundalk, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on January 2, 2025, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

FOSTER – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after police stopped a motor vehicle in Temiskaming Shores.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol and observed a vehicle travelling through a public parking lot near Cedar Avenue in Temiskaming Shores. OPP initiated a traffic stop to ensure driver sobriety which resulted in the arrest of the driver for impaired. The driver was then transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

Kent FOSTER, 38 years-of-age, from Burlington, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Fail to surrender permit for vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

 In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 7, 2025.

CARRIERE Was Arrested

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON) –  A Sergeant from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on patrol in Penetanguishene made a vehicle stop just after midnight of a vehicle travelling without any running lights activated.

The blue Toyota pick up observed travelling along Robert Street was safely stopped on Maria Street and the officer spoke to the driver and shortly entered into a drinking and driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation, Jessica CARRIERE 47 years of Penetanguishene has been charged criminally with the offence of Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on the January 2, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

FERGUSON – Drunk Driving

(GEORGIAN BAY TWP, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after receiving a traffic complaint on Highway 400 in Georgian Bay Twp.

On December 16, 2024 at 3:45 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to a possibly impaired driver on Highway 400 in Georgian Bay Twp. The complainant was able to update officers on the vehicles location and a traffic stop was conducted a short time later. As a result of their investigation, police have charged 59-year-old Joanne FERGUSON of Seguin, ON with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on January 21, 2025 to answer to her charges.

(Prince Edward County, ON) – A single vehicle collision has resulted in a driver being charged with impaired operation.

On December 15, 2024, at approximately 4:15 a.m., members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on County Road 12 in Prince Edward County.

As a result of the investigation, Kevin ELLIOT, age 25, from Prince Edward County, was arrested and charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol

· Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 8th, 2025. They also had their driver’s license suspended for a period of 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.
