Hit & Run – Wayne Taylor Arrested

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment and the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on April 02, 2024.

On April 02, 2024 at approximately 8:24 pm, officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver, while officers were responding the driver struck another motor vehicle and continued to drive. Members conducted a traffic stop on the reported motor vehicle and arrested and charged the driver.

Wayne Taylor 60 years old of Kirkfield was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to Remain
  • Possess Unmarked Cigarettes

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Douglas JENSEN Arrested & Facing Numerous Charges

(NORTHEASTERN MANITOULIN AND THE ISLANDS, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged following a traffic stop on Highway 6.

On March 31, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Highway 6 in Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. Police conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Douglas JENSEN, 45-years-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle, no plates
  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Improper number plate light
  • Permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive motor vehicle, no permit

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on April 23, 2024.

The driver received a 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on March 30, 2024.

On March 30, 2024, at approximately 12:27 p.m., officers conduced a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 35, through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences.

Jean-Guy DUGUAY, 66-year-old of Kirkfield, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Nigel SOARES – Drunk Driving

(COX TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver was charged with impaired driving after police receiving a traffic complaint from another driver.

On March 30, 2024, shortly after 9:30 a.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver on Highway 69, Cox Township, south of Sudbury.

The vehicle was located and stopped by police. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Nigel SOARES, 55 years-of-age, from Gravenhurst, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 24, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Joseph CATAFORD – Drunk Driving

(MOONBEAM, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Moonbeam led to the arrest of driver for impaired driving.

On March 30, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began a RIDE program on Highway 581 in Moonbeam. 

Approximately 20 minutes after starting, a vehicle entered the RIDE program, and police determined that the driver had been consuming an alcohol beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Joseph CATAFORD, 47 years of age of Moonbeam, was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 29, 2024 in Kapuskasing. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Tyler BLAIR – Drunk Driving

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – On March 30, 2024, at 8:00 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a motor vehicle on Highway 40 near Petrolia line that was exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 50 km/h.

A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with a driver it became apparent they had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples over the legal limit.

Tyler BLAIR, 33-years-old of Sarnia, has been charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired and,
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Picton OPP Only Caught 3 Drunk Drivers During Annual Enforcement Weekend #QuotaNotMet

(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged three individuals over the weekend with impaired offences.

On March 30, 2024, shortly before 2:30 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 4. As a result of the investigation, David KETTLE, age 67 from Prince Edward County was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On the same date shortly before midnight, officers conducted a traffic stop on Main Street Picton and spoke with the driver. As a result of the investigation, Robert LAINE, age 36 from Prince Edward County was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Sunday March 31, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 1 and spoke with the driver. As a result of the investigation, Chuck KEEPING, age 44 from Orangeville was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The drivers were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. They also had their licences suspended for 90 days and vehicles impounded for seven.

Kevin Skippen – Drunk Driving

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – A local driver is facing an impaired driving charge after the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle which drove into a ditch in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

On March 31, 2024, at 5:58 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a call of a motor vehicle that drove off the roadway into a ditch on Girl Guide Road in Georgian Bluffs. Officers located the vehicle and while officers were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment for further tests by a Qualified Breath Technician.

Kevin Skippen, 55-years-old of the Municipality of Georgian Bluffs was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on April 25, 2024.

Coady JACKMAN – Drunk Driving

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver has been charged with Impaired driving (80 plus) after their vehicle was stopped at a R.I.D.E. check on March 28, 2024.

On March 28, 2024, at approximately 10:20pm, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program at the intersection of Drummond Line and Division Street. A vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. and officers spoke with the driver reading them the Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. The driver provided a sample of their breath and as a result was arrested.

Coady JACKMAN (age 34) of Selwyn Township, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 23, 2024.

Another OPP Detachment Caught Their 4 Drunk Drivers #QuotaFilled #RestOfYearOff

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested four drivers over the Easter weekend with alcohol related driving offences.

On March 30, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle failing to stop for a stop sign on Albert Street in the Municipality of Leamington. 

Officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. After speaking with the driver, it was suspected the driver had consumed alcohol, a demand to complete roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was made. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest, and taken into custody.

Yuridiana DELGADO-GONZALEZ, 34 years-of-age, of Leamington, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(b) CC

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence S. 32(1) HTA

·        Fail to Obey traffic control stop sign S.146.1(3) HTA

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on April 16, 2024, to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

On March 30, 2024, at approximately 2:39 a.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle travelling in excess of 145 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone on Highway 3 in the Town of Essex.

The investigating officer conducted a traffic stop, suspected the driver had consumed alcohol and demanded a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest, and taken into custody.

As a result, Cyril TAYVIAH, 36 years-of-age, of Kingsville, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol S.320.14(1)(a) CC

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(b) CC

·        Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed S.172(1) HTA

·        Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on April 22, 2024, to answer to the impaired charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 14-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

On March 31, 2024, at approximately 12:38 a.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically on County Road 22 in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

The investigating officer conducted a traffic stop, suspected the driver had consumed alcohol and demanded a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest, and taken into custody.

As a result, Rene ALMEIDA, 59 years-of-age, of Windsor, has been charged with:

·                                  Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(b)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on April 9, 2024, to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

On March 31, 2024, at approximately 2:01 a.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically on County Road 22 in the Town of Tecumseh.

The investigating officer followed the vehicle to a residence, where the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to evade the officer before being arrested.

As a result, Pathal SATNAM SIGH, 36 years-of-age, of Tecumseh, has been charged with:

·                                  Operation while impaired – alcohol S.320.14(1)(a)

·                                  Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(b)

·                                  Resist Peace Officer S.129(a)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on April 11, 2024, to answer to the charges.

OPP Detachment Finally Enforced Law Over Weekend – Shocked They Caught 4 Drunk Drivers in 8 Hours

(KENORA, ON) – The Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged 4 different persons at 4 different occurrences between March 31 and April 1 2024 for impaired related offences.

On March 31, 2024, shortly after 5:30 p.m. a disturbance call on Lakeview Dr resulted in an impaired investigation by the Kenora OPP.

As a result, Tammy FRENETTE, 48-years-old, of Kenora has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

· Adult operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

The accused with scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on April 25, 2024, to answer to the charges.

On March 31, 2024, after a report of a possible impaired driver on Whitefish Bay FN, the Kenora OPP and Treaty Three Police Service (T3PS) located the vehicle on Hwy 17E at Reddens.

Police conducted an investigation, and it was determined the driver of the vehicle was impaired.

As a result, Tamook PAYPOMPEE, 28-years-old, of Northwest Angle 33 has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

· Adult operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

· Adult operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on April 18, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Further the Kenora OPP initiated a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in the City of Kenora at around 1:30 a.m. on April 1, 2024.

As a result, Bradley WHITE, 39-years-old, of Shoal Lake 39 has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

· Adult operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

· Adult operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

· Adult operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused was held pending a bail hearing where he was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on April 4, 2024, to answer to the charges.

A second driver, Danielle EVERSON, 31-years-old, of Kenora has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code (CC) the Cannabis Control Act (CCA) and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

· Adult operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs (CC)

· Adult possession of a Schedule I Substance-Cocaine (CDSA)

· Adult have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available (CCA)

The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on April 25, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Jonas STREICHER – Drunk Driving

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On March 29, 2024, at 12:54 a.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol checked on a vehicle along Sideroad 25 Elderslie.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Jonas STREICHER, 25-years-old, from the Municipality of West Grey was charged with: Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

2 Charged With Drunk Driving In Care Home “Break-out”

(ORILLIA) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two individuals with impaired driving after an incident at a local care home in Orillia.

On March 29, 2024, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Orillia OPP officers received a report of a resident of a local care home departing with two individuals without the staff’s knowledge. An investigation commenced and extensive patrol measures were employed to locate the individuals and vehicle involved.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., all individuals were located safe by police. Investigations revealed the resident departed the facility consensually with the known individuals. The resident was transferred into the care of Simcoe County Paramedics for precautionary reasons and has since been returned to the care home.

It was determined that the two individuals with the resident had operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol and were arrested.

A 39-year-old female from Orangeville has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired-alcohol contrary to section

A 50-year-old male from Barrie has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired-alcohol contrary to section

The names of the accused’s will not be released to protect the identity of the resident.

The two accused’s are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia in April 2024.

Both accused’s driver’s licence have been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

Drunk Driver With Kids In Car Arrested After Foot Chase

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On March 27, 2024, the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a driver after receiving complaints of impairment while driving with kids in the car.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. police received multiple calls reporting that a known family member was driving around drunk with children in the car. The complainants had made attempts to have the driver stop, but she refused. Police located the small black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) a short time later in a retail store parking lot on Ontario Avenue. After a short foot chase, the uncooperative female driver was arrested and the black SUV was towed and impounded. 

Marilyn TERRELL, 49-years-old, from Sault Ste. Marie was charged with – Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on May 9, 2024.

Christine ACHNEEPINESKUM – Drunk Driving

(HEARST, ON) – One person was arrested for impaired driving on a Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV).  

On March 21, 2024, shortly after 12:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call reporting a suspicious snowmobile driver, that was stuck on the L 164 trail in Hearst.

Police located the driver and determined that they had been consuming an alcohol beverage.  The driver was arrested and transported to the Hearst detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Christine ACHNEEPINESKUM, 43 years of age of Constance Lake was arrested and charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 16, 2024 in Hearst.
