Kenneth LEET – Drunk Driving, Repeat Offender

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One driver has been arrested and charged with impaired driving after police conducted a traffic stop in Espanola.

On March 11, 2024, shortly before 10:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol in Espanola. Police conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Algoma Street.

Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Kenneth LEET, 64-years-old, from Manitoulin Island has been charged with:

  • Operation unsafe vehicle
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)
  • Drive with improper headlights
  • Fail to stop for police
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 15, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic stop.

On March 6, 2024, just after 2:00 p.m., officers from Dufferin OPP were called to assist on a traffic stop which was conducted by a Protective Service Officer from the OPP in the area of HWY 10 and CTY RD 109 in the Town of Orangeville. Officers attended the scene and were quickly into an impaired operation investigation.

Seth GAVIN, a 21-year-old male, from Kitchener has been charged with:

•      Driving while under suspension

•      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

•      Fail to surrender insurance card

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

Dufferin OPP continues to conduct traffic enforcement daily as drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs and who drive at excessive speeds continue to pose a threat to Ontario roads. We are committed to the safety of our community.

40 Year Old From Kincardine Arrested – Name Released

(TIVERTON, ON) – On March 3, 2024, at 3:56 a.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. along Main Street in Tiverton, when they encountered an unlicensed driver.

Upon further investigation, officers found a quantity of illicit drugs in the vehicle.

Chad MILLER, 40-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Obstruct a Peace Officer

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on April 24, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Jeffery McKeachnie Arrested Following Collision

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver who crashed their vehicle into the ditch.

On March 2, 2024, at 1:27 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP were patrolling Highway 10 in Chatsworth Township when they located a vehicle in the ditch. While the officers were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP Detachment for further tests by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

Jeffery McKeachnie, 30-years-old of South Bruce Peninsula was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 21, 2024.

Road safety is a priority for the OPP and officers are trained in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE), giving them the skills to identify a driver who is impaired by a drug. Officers can also use Approved Drug Screening Equipment to enforce zero tolerance sanctions with young, novice and commercial drivers. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.
