Michael SCHELL Facing Numerous Charges

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- Suspended driver charged with numerous offences.

On March 17, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of an unlicensed driver in a grey pickup truck at a coffee shop on Highway 108 in the City of Elliot Lake.

Police later observed the same grey pickup truck parked at a residence on Central Avenue. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the grey pickup truck pulled out of the driveway with a utility trailer in tow and a traffic stop was initiated on Poplar Road.

A query revealed the driver was suspended and breaching a condition of their Undertaking. An arrest was made, and a subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a small amount cannabis marihuana on the front seat and in the centre console.

Michael SCHELL, 38 years-of-age from Sudbury was charged with:

  • Failure to comply with Undertaking
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Driver-fail to properly wear seatbelt
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Improper tires-draw vehicle
  • Improper tires
  • Improper means of attachment

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

Robert BELLEAU Was Arrested

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON) – On February 25, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer with the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was patrolling Trunk Road in Sault Ste. Marie, when they observed a vehicle pull out of a business in an unsafe manner, failing to yield for traffic and nearly causing a collision.   

A traffic stop was conducted, and investigation revealed the driver was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. As a result, Robert BELLEAU, 61 years-of-age, of Garden River First Nation was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to yield – uncontrolled intersection
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 7, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie.

David MALCOLM Was Arrested

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON, ON) – Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system assists officer in stopping and charging a driver from Highgate.

On February 25, 2025, just before 12:00 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Inwood Road, was alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, of a possible suspended driver.

A traffic stop was initiated on Inwood Road, south of Shiloh Line.

As a result, David MALCOLM, a 49-year-old of Highgate, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with the following offences:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to identify self

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 45-days.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 1, 2025, in the City of Sarnia.

Jeremy CORE: Drunk Driving While Suspended

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Waterloo resident with four charges, stemming from a traffic complaint.

On February 21, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP received a traffic complaint involving a motor vehicle being parked in the middle of a live roadway on Leslie Road West within Puslinch Township. Officers then responded to the scene.

As a result of the investigation, Jeremy CORE, a 34-year-old of Waterloo is charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on March 4, 2025.

Lucknow Line Traffic Stop Results In Numerous Charges

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TOWNSHIP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a commercial truck driver and the trucking company that owns the vehicle following a traffic stop on February 5th, 2025, in ACW Twp. 

Just before 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, Huron County OPP officers were patrolling on Lucknow Line in ACW Twp when the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) equipment in the cruiser alerted the officer to the licence plate of a passing commercial motor vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and officers spoke to the driver, discovering further infractions.

The 53-year-old driver from Brampton has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act as follows:

–      Driving While Under Suspension,

–      Use Plate not Authorized for Vehicle,

–      Fail to Maintain Daily Log,

–      Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle – no valid CVOR,

–      Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle – no validated Permit,

–      Fail to Have Insurance Card,

–      Fail to Surrender Permit for Trailer.

The trucking company, also based in Brampton was charged with the following offences:

–      Permit Use of Plate Not Authorized,

–      Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle – no validated Permit.

The involved vehicle was towed from the scene.

The accused parties now face a court appearance scheduled at the Provincial Offences Court – Goderich.

Stolen Snow Plow Ends With Charges

On January 28th 2025 at 3:05am Saugeen Shores Police were alerted that a snow plow that had been stolen from Owen Sound, ON was headed towards their jurisdiction. The vehicle was located by officers around 3:15am on Doll Sideroad in the Town of Port Elgin. A traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle fled from police. The vehicle was not pursued.

The truck was then observed on County Road 3 and a tire deflation device was successfully deployed. The vehicle fled from police again despite the blizzard like conditions and headed on to Highway 21. The vehicle was soon abandoned and police began to track the suspects through the snow.

Two individuals were located and placed under arrest.

39-year-old of Owen Sound has been charged with:
-Flight from Peace Officer
-Dangerous operation
-Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
-Drive while under suspension
-Fail to stop for Police
-Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

43-year old of Owen Sound has been charged with:
-Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

-Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance

Mahad ABDULLAHI Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid Impaired Driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m. on February 2, a vehicle approached officers who were conducting a RIDE check on Nicholas Street. Officers suspected the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver, who was already a suspended driver with a G2 licence, refused to provide a roadside breath sample.

As a result, Mahad ABDULLAHI, 31 years of age faces the following charges:

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Driving While Under Suspension
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C Above Zero
  • Novice Driver Refuse to Provide Breath Sample

Abdullahi was issued a 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Abdullahi is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Jessica SHARPE Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An investigation into a collision in Simcoe led to charges against a prohibited driver.

At approximately 11:27 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a collision involving two Sports Utility Vehicles at the intersection of Norfolk County Highway 24 East and St. John’s Road in Simcoe, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

During the investigation, police determined that one of the drivers was prohibited from driving. The individual was taken into custody without incident.

45-year-old Jessica SHARPE from Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,
  • Driving while under suspension,
  • Fail to yield to traffic on through highway.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

Adrian Chalmers-Lewis Facing Numerous Charges

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On January 25th, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 35, near Golf Course Road.

During the checkpoint, officers observed that cannabis was readily available to the driver. The driver failed to provide identification and was subsequently arrested.

33-year-old Adrian Chalmers-Lewis of Toronto was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Failure to identify self
  • Failure to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Multiple other charges

In addition to the charges, the driver received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Abraham PETITHOMME Facing Numerous Charges

(SUDBURY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two people for drug related offence, after stopping a vehicle for stunt driving.

On January 19, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m., the Sudbury Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) Team of the OPP, conducted a traffic stop on Highway 69, Sudbury.

The vehicle was travelling 50 kilometres an hour, greater than the posted speed limit. The driver was arrested for stunt driving and found to be a suspended driver.

Police seized cellular phones, credit cards, Canadian currency and drugs suspected to cannabis and a brick of cocaine with an estimated street value of $100,000.

As a result of the investigation, Abraham PETITHOMME, 24-years-of age, from Toronto was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of an identity document
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Possess – credit card data

The passenger of the vehicle, Joel DAVIS, 18-years-of-age, from Toronto was also arrested and charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine.

Both accused were held for Bail Court, then remanded back into custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 22, 2025, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 30-day Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Shawn DITTRICH Was Arrested Again

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system assists officer in stopping and charging a driver from Dorchester.

On January 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Westchester Bourne at Hamilton Road in Thames Centre, was alerted by the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, of a possible suspended driver.

A traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver was a prohibited driver and was placed under arrest.

As a result, Shawn DITTRICH, a 48-year-old of Dorchester, has been charged under Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on February 25, 2025, to speak to the charges. 

The vehicle was towed from the scene and was impounded for 45-days.

The In Car Camera and ALPR have been operating in Middlesex County OPP vehicles since March 13, 2023. Middlesex OPP officers continue to see drivers operating vehicles that do not have valid, registered licence plates, are currently driving unlicenced, while under suspension or prohibited.

20 Year Old Suspended Driver Arrested

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged with impaired operation resulting from a traffic stop on Meredith Street East, Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands Township.

On January 9, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle when the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) alerted officers to a suspended driver. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested.

As a result, the driver, Jordan PITAWANAKWAT, 20-years-old from Birch Island, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on February 11, 2025.

Jodie DILLON Was Arrested – Meth A Factor

(REESOR SIDING, ON) – A call to police regarding a stalled vehicle on Highway 11 has resulted in impaired driving charges.

On January 7, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a call of a vehicle that was stuck on the side of Highway 11 in Reesor Siding. Officers located the vehicle and driver, and during the interaction with the driver, officers determined they had consumed an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jodie DILLON, 32 years of age of Constance Lake, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine

·        Operation while prohibited under the criminal code – two counts

·        Driving while under suspension

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 24, 2025, in Kapuskasing. In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

41 Year Old Suspended Driver From South Bruce Arrested – Name Released

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – One driver is facing charges after the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped them for speeding on Highway 6 in South Bruce Peninsula.

On December 15, 2024, at 7:01 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 6 between Sherwood Camp Road and Birch Lane in South Bruce Peninsula. The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling above the posted 80 km/hr speed limit and initiated a traffic stop. It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized.

As a result, Bartosz Hecht, a 41-year-old from South Bruce Peninsula was charged with the following:

·      Operation while prohibited under the criminal code (two counts)

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Speeding 1- 49 km/hr over posted limit

·      Fail to surrender insurance card

·      Fail to produce permit

·      Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 16, 2025.

SUSPENDED DRIVER LOCATED DURING BLIZZARD WARNING

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On December 11, 2024, at 10:45 p.m., Grey Bruce OPP officers were patrolling Main Street East in Dundalk, Southgate Township. During their patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle lacking a front licence plate. Upon further investigation, they discovered that the licence plate on the vehicle had been issued in Texas, but it was attached to a different vehicle than the one it was originally registered to. The officers also found unmarked cigarettes in the vehicle, additionally, the driver was found to have a suspended driver’s licence.

As a result of the investigation a 29-year-old from Beeton was charged with the following:

·      Driving while under suspension (two counts)

·      Possess unmarked cigarettes

·      Use plates not authorized for vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

The Grey Bruce OPP is warning drivers that if your licence is suspended, do not drive. It is illegal and can lead to fines, arrest, or longer suspensions. Please resolve your suspension prior to driving a vehicle. Remember, driving while suspended can have serious consequences. Stay safe and stay legal.
