The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic disturbance in Chatham.
On June 15, 2014 a man and woman engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation. The man pushed, punched and choked the woman causing her to fall to the ground. The woman was able to free herself and leave the residence. The man fled prior to police arrival. The woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. She was treated and released.
Through investigation, police learned that the man was also threatening the woman via Facebook messages.
Last night, police received information that the man was in the area of Harvey Street. Officers searched the area and found the man hiding in a bush. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
The 28-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault, overcoming resistance to commit an offence, uttering threats and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
