Drug Seizure (near Thamesville)

On the 24th of June 2014 at around 5:30pm Chatham Kent Police received information about several marijuana plants growing on a property just west of Thamesville. The plants were located a seized by police.

Man arrested for bail violations (Wallaceburg)

On Tuesday night around 11:00 p.m. Chatham Kent Police conducted some compliance checks on persons who are charged and on court imposed conditions. A 44 year old male from Wallaceburg was checked and found not to be complying with a curfew condition. The male was located a short time later in the Wallaceburg area and arrested.

The male now faces a charge of Breach of Recognizance and was released with a future court date.

Chatham Man arrested for breaching court conditions

On Monday the 23rd of June 2014 at about 5:00 p.m. the Chatham-Kent Police attended Wal-Mart to assist security with a male who was under court orders not to be at the store. The 40 year old man fled from store security and was located by police a short distance later with a 37 year old female. The male was arrested and further investigation revealed the woman he was with was in possession of illegal drugs.

The female was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released with a future court date. The male was charged with fail to comply with recognizance and held for a bail hearing.

Animals left in Unattended Vehicles

Chatham-Kent Police responded to 3 complaints of animals left unattended in vehicles on Monday. In all three cases the animals were safe and no charges laid. However charges are possible depending on the circumstances of the investigations, and people are encouraged to think of the safety of their animals. If a animal is observed in a dangerous situation please contact the Chatham-Kent Police or the OSPCA.

Break and Enter

CK Police are investigating a break and enter which took place in the overnight hours of 19-20 June of a rental office located at a business on Riverview Drive in Chatham. Culprits used a drill to force the locks and once inside made off with a computer, PVR, and other property. At the time of the report the property value and the total damage costs were not available.

Break and Enter (Raleigh TWP)

The Chatham-Kent Police are looking for information regarding a break and enter that occurred during the day on Thursday.

The complainant reports suspects forced their way into a home on Queens line in Raleigh Township. Several items were stolen including cash, jewellery and liquor. The total value of the theft has not been determined yet and the investigation is continuing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrants (Wallaceburg)

The Chatham-Kent Police have arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants for several counts of failing to comply with probation.

Just before 1:00 p.m. a patrol officer spotted the suspect in the area of James Street, Wallaceburg. The 20-year-old man who resides in Wallaceburg initially evaded the officer however he was located and arrested shortly after. The male was held for a bail hearing.

Two people charged with Possession of Stolen Property

The Chatham-Kent Police Service has arrested a female driver and a male passenger after a patrol officer observed a stolen vehicle in the area of Baldoon Road in Chatham.

The vehicle stopped when the driver saw police and the male passenger fled from the vehicle on foot. The driver, a 28 year old female from Chatham, was arrested at the scene. Chatham-Kent Police K-9 attended and a short while later the passenger was located hiding in a car port about one block from the vehicle. The passenger, a 26 year old male from Chatham was also arrested.

Both persons were charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 and transported to Police HQ. Both were later released with a future court date.

Man arrested for shoplifting

The Chatham-Kent Police Service have arrested a Chatham man in relation to a Shoplifting complaint that occurred at a local retailer.

The male was observed to steal some sausages and leave the store without paying. Officers attended and recognized the male suspect on the video. Shortly afterwards the male was located and arrested for the theft and outstanding warrants issued by London Police. The male was transported to Police HQ and held for a bail hearing.

The 32 year old man was charged with Theft under $5000, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000, and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.

Break and Enter in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent Police are looking for information regarding a break and enter that occurred in the early morning.

The complainant reports at about 1:20 a.m. a male party was observed leaving the area of the Thames street home on a bike. It appears the suspect entered the home while the resident was there and removed a purse. The investigation is continuing.

Two Men Charged Following a Theft in Chatham

On Monday, June 16, 2014, a man checked into the Travellers Motel on Queens Line. When he checked out the following morning, an employee noticed that a 30” Insignia TV valued at $500 had been stolen from the room.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible. Jonathan Boswell, 31 years, of Park Avenue in Chatham was arrested and charged with theft under $5000. He was released pending a future court date.

Police learned that the stolen TV was in possession of another man. Officers attended that man’s residence and right inside the front door, the TV was observed in plain view. Clayton Morgan, 37 years, of Lacroix Street in Chatham was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property obtained by a crime under $5000. Upon being searched incident to arrest, he was also found to be in possession of prohibited spray. He was further charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and breaching a prohibition order. He was released pending a future court date.

Man Charged with Criminal Harassment

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic-related incident.

Earlier this year, the man and woman ended their relationship. Upon doing so, the woman requested the man stop communicating with her. The man failed to comply with her request despite being served a written legal notice and warning by police. The man has continued to send the woman emails and approached her outside a Chatham business.

Last night, the man was located and arrested. The 36-year-old St. Thomas man has been charged with criminal harassment. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.

Man Charged with Assault

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

On June 15, 2014 a man and woman engaged in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation. The man pushed, punched and choked the woman causing her to fall to the ground. The woman was able to free herself and leave the residence. The man fled prior to police arrival. The woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. She was treated and released.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was also threatening the woman via Facebook messages.

Last night, police received information that the man was in the area of Harvey Street. Officers searched the area and found the man hiding in a bush. Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

The 28-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault, overcoming resistance to commit an offence, uttering threats and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman Charged with Failing to Comply

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a woman following a report of a suspicious person in Chatham.

In May, the woman was released from custody with several conditions. One of those conditions stated that she was to abstain from the consumption of alcohol.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. yesterday, police attended the area of Campus Parkway and Academy Drive in regards to a suspicious woman. Officers located the woman and determined that was she intoxicated.

The 46-year Chatham woman was arrested and has been charged with failing to comply. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants for theft under $5000, fraud under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000, failing to comply and breach of probation.

Just before 8:00 p.m. last night, officers located the man on Wellington Street in Chatham and he was arrested. The 48-year-old man of no fixed address has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
