Chatham-Kent Police Daily Report

Chatham-Kent, Ontario: The Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to calls for service in the last 24 hours. Eight people were arrested and two were on outstanding warrants.

Man Arrested for Probation Violation CK24009294

At 7:22 a.m., police responded to the Superstore on St. Clair Street in Chatham for a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers located the man tipping over carts and screaming. Officers arrested the man and confirmed he was bound by a Probation Order prohibiting him from being at that location.

The 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested for Intimate Partner Violence CK24009403

At 7:06 p.m., police responded to Northland Drive in Chatham for a disturbance.

Through investigation, officers learned the man and a woman engaged in a verbal altercation that escalated when the man assaulted the woman.

The 38-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats. He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man Arrested for Probation Violations CK24009414

At 8:37 p.m., an officer on patrol located a man highly intoxicated walking on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The officer arrested the man. During a search incident to arrest the officer found a pocketknife in the man’s possession. The officer learned the man was bound by a Probation Order prohibiting him from possessing weapons.

The 25-year-old Charring Cross man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with a probation order. He was transported to police headquarters and held until sober. He was released with conditions and a future court date April 8, 2024.

Woman Arrested for Impaired Driving CK24009415

At 8:40 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Grand Avenue in Chatham.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The officer believed the woman driving to be under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters for tests.

The 56-year-old Chatham woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released with conditions and a future court date. March 11, 2024.

Man Arrested on an Outstanding Warrant CK4009424

At 10:07 p.m., police located the man on Regent Street in Blenheim. Officers confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant as a result of a theft investigation.

The 38-year-old Blenheim man was charged with theft and possession of stolen property. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date.

Man Arrested for Assault CK24009459

On March 2, 2024, at 5:10 a.m., officers located the man on Thames Street in Chatham.

The man was wanted on an outstanding warrant as a result of an assault investigation.

The 20-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and mischief. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date April 15, 2024.

Motor vehicle collision leads to assault charges (request for witnesses)

On June 28, 2014 at approximately 11:37 am the Chatham Kent Police were called to attend a motor vehicle collision on Murray Street, Wallaceburg. Through investigation it was learned that the victim; a 27 year old Chatham man, was travelling on Murray street when he slowed for a vehicle entering a private drive. When he did this the driver of the vehicle immediately behind him struck the rear of his vehicle and allegedly pressed the accelerator pushing the victim’s vehicle forward. When the vehicles came to a stop the victim exited his vehicle and approached the other involved driver who punched the victim in the face. As a result of the incident a 37 year old Wallaceburg man was charged with dangerous driving and assault. He was released with a future court date. The victim did not require any medical attention.

Male arrested and charged with domestic assault charges

On the 29th of June 2010 at about 1:20 p.m. Chatham-Kent Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on Delaware Ave. in Chatham. The 23 year old female victim had been assaulted and had suffered some minor injuries. The 22 year old male suspect from London had already left the scene however he was located and arrested a short time later.

The male was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, mischief and overcoming resistance and held for a bail hearing.

Breach of recognizance, Chatham

On June 29, 2014 at approximately 1:30 am the Chatham Kent Police located a male party walking on King Street, Chatham. Police conducted a records check and learned the male party was on a court ordered recognizance with a curfew condition. He was in violation of this condition and was arrested and transported to the Chatham Kent Police Headquarters where he was lodged. As a result of this investigation a 17 year old Chatham youth will appear in bail court today.

Family argument leads to criminal charges

On June 28, 2014 at approximately 9:12 pm the Chatham Kent Police were contacted to attend a Park Street Chatham address following information of a male party in the residence causing problems. Upon arrival the suspect had left the residence. It was learned through investigation that the male party allegedly caused damage in the residence and threatened a family member with a knife. The suspect was located a short time later and was arrested and transported to the Chatham Kent Police Headquarters. As a result of his actions a 20 year old Chatham man will face charges of Mischief, Utter threats and Weapons Dangerous. He was released with a future court date and will have to adhere to a number of conditions until the matter is concluded in court.

Break and Enter Forhan Street, Wallaceburg

On June 27, 2014 at approximately 11:15 am the Chatham Kent Police were called to attend a Forhan Street, Wallaceburg address after the home owner discovered the residence had been entered and property stolen. The rear door had been entered and once inside the thief made off with a red and grey mountain bike valued at $100.

Motor Vehicle Collision – Cyclist struck

On June 27, 2014 the Chatham Kent Police attended Heritage Road and Riverview Drive, Chatham for a motor vehicle collision where a cyclist was struck. The involved cyclist; a 39 year old Chatham woman, was assessed at the scene by Emergency Services and transported to the Chatham Kent Health Alliance – Public General Campus with minor injuries. The driver of the involved motor vehicle; an 83 year old Chatham man, was charged with a highway traffic act offence for failing to yield right of way to a pedestrian.

Assault and Mischief – Wallaceburg

On June 27, 2014 at approximately 10:57 pm the Chatham Kent Police were contacted to investigate an assault complaint on Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg. Through police investigation it was learned that a male party allegedly approached the victim while he was in his vehicle grabbing him by his shirt and punched him. He then kicked the victim’s vehicle as he was leaving causing damage to the driver’s door. The accused, a 30 year old Walpole Island man was located and arrested. He was eventually released with a future court date charged with assault and Mischief. The victim, a 19 year old Wallaceburg man did not require any medical attention.

Man arrested for impaired driving after a minor collision (Chatham)

On Thursday the 26th of June 2014 just after 8:15 p.m. a 66 year old Chatham man drove his vehicle onto a plaza lot on Grand Avenue. While on the parking lot he was involved in a minor collision, exited his vehicle and went into a local business. A citizen witnessed the collision and contacted police. Chatham-Kent Police attended and after confronting the driver he was arrested.

The driver was charged with having care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired and over 80 mg of alcohol. The male was later released with a future court date.

Update on Sudden Death investigation (Blenheim)

A post mortem was conducted on a deceased 83 year old male at the London Health Sciences Centre on Thursday the 26th of June 2014. As a result the investigative team has deemed the death not to be suspicious.

Sudden death investigation (Blenheim)

On Wednesday the 25th of June 2014 at around 3:15 p.m. Chatham Kent Police, Fire and EMS responded to a home on 13th Line Blenheim regarding a possible sudden death. A 83 year old male was found deceased and an 85 year old woman was found in medical distress. The woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. The incident is still under investigation however it does not appear suspicious at this time. A post mortem is scheduled for the 26th of June 2014 for the deceased male.

Male arrested for threats and bail violations (Wallaceburg)

Chatham-Kent Police attended an address in Wallaceburg regarding an altercation that occurred on Wednesday at about 2:30 p.m. in Wallaceburg. The 55 year old female victim advised she was driving her scooter on McNaughton Ave. when a 55 year old male who was known to her threatened bodily harm to her and some others. The male was also on conditions not to communicate with the female.

The male suspect from Wallaceburg was arrested and charged with 3 counts of uttering threats and one count of breaching his recognizance. The male was held for a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision (Chatham)

On the 25th of June 2014 at about 4:10 p.m. Chatham Kent Police responded to a two vehicle collision on Queens Line near Dillon Road just west of Chatham. One vehicle was reported to have rear ended another. One involved driver was a 59 year old woman from Florida. Total damage to the involved vehicles was estimated at $15,000. Man arrested for Impaired Driving (Chatham)

The Chatham Kent Police were called by a concerned citizen who witnessed a vehicle driving erratically on Queens line near Chatham. Police located the vehicle and identified the driver, a 50 year old man from Windsor. The driver was arrested and transported to police headquarters.

The driver was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, exceeding 80 mg blood alcohol content and liquor licence act offences. The driver was later released with a future court date.
