Arrest

Date: Tuesday, May 27, 2014 – 1:00pm
As previously reported, the Barrie Police Service Street Crime Drug Unit has been investigating the trafficking of Fentanyl. A medical secretary was fraudulently creating prescriptions for complicit individuals who allowed their identity and health card numbers to be used.

Also previously reported was the fact that the medical secretary in question has entered a plea of guilt and received a 9 year sentence.

The investigation has continued and the Street Crime Drug Unit has arrested 8 further individuals and laid a total of 72 further charges which allege the possession and uttering of forged documents in addition to possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance.

At present 11 further individuals are being sought for their involvement in this matter.

Missing Person Located

At approximately 6:19am, the previously reported missing female Leonarda BAPTISTA was located in the John St. Street area. She was located in good physical health and has since been returned to her family. The Barrie Police Service wishes to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance.

Child Explotation-Luring

Date: Monday, May 26, 2014 – 4:30pm
A 42 year old male from Orillia was on-line and made arrangements to meet a person he believed to be 15 years of age. The male eagerly awaiting at the location of his choice was met by members of Child Sexual Exploitation Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police and members of the Barrie Police ICE (Internet Child Exploitation). The male was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing scheduled for 27th May 2014.

Break and Enter/Mischief and Theft

Date: Sunday, May 25, 2014 – 7:00pm
Barrie Police officers responded to a report of a break and enter that just occurred at an address on Coderington. The officers arrived on scene and were advised by the victim that her house was broken into by her ex-girlfriend. The victim stated that she was shower when her ex-girlfriend, a 25 yr old female from Barrie smashed the front window, climbed in and stole the victim’s dog. The suspect also damaged a coffee table when entering the residence.

Officers located the suspect at a residence on Irene. The female was arrested for break and enter, mischief X 2 (one being from a previous incident) and theft. The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Domestic Assault

Date: Monday, May 26, 2014 – 8:52pm
Barrie Police officers responded to an address on Kozlov St in regards to a domestic disturbance. The officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victim who stated that her boyfriend was upset that he could contact his drug dealer. The male grabbed a remote and threw it at the female striking her in the leg. When she attempted to leave the apartment the male grabbed her by the throat and proceeded to choke her causing her to fall to the floor.

The 19 yr old male was located a short distance from the residence and arrested for assault and assault with a weapon. The accused was transported to the station and held for a bail hearing.

Drugs and Breach of Probation

Barrie Police officers were requested to attend a residence on Doris in regards to removing a male. The complainant was the mother of the male and stated that her son was out of control and needed to removed. When officer attempted to remove the male he became very belligerent and aggressive towards the officers. The officer noticed a small bag of drugs on the floor beside where the male was sitting. The 19 yr old male was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance. Upon searching the male he was also in possession of pills. The male was also on probation not to possess narcotics. The male was transported to the station and held for a bail hearing.

Missing Person

Officers responded to an address on Cundles Rd W in regards to a missing elderly female. The officer arrived on scene and spoke to the daughter of the missing female. She advised that her 78 yr old mother has mild dementia and diabetes and went missing from there residence around 7 pm.

Occurrence Type: Breach Probation

Barrie Police Service attended a south-end residence while an evicted tenant removed his belongings. While police were with the 21 year old male, they learned he was on probation and he was not to use the internet. The male had a computer plugged in and had told police he had recently used the internet. The man was arrested and held for bail for the offence of Breaching his Probation Order in relation to children. Police seized his computer, video game system and smart phone.

Impaired Driving, Over 80 Mgs

Date: Sunday, May 24, 2015 – 5:00pm
On Saturday May 24, 2014 at approximately 5 pm the Barrie Police Service received information from a Mary St LCBO employee that an intoxicated patron that was refused service had left the store and drove off the parking lot in a black GMC Envoy.

Officers were provided a description of the driver, licence plate and last known direction of travel of the vehicle.

A short time later officers stopped the vehicle, the officer formed the opinion that the males ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired by the amount of alcohol that the driver had consumed.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the station where he provided breath samples that were over three times the legal limit.

As a result the 47 year old Barrie resident will be released with a future court date where he will face Impaired Driving and Over 80 Mgs charges.

Occurrence Type: Theft Under, Possession Under

Date: Saturday, May 24, 2014 – 5:00pm
On Saturday May 24, 2014 at approximately 5 pm the Barrie Police Service received information from the loss prevention staff from SEARS that a male and female had attended the store and stolen a large screen television and were placing it inside a vehicle.

Officers were provided a description of the suspects and the licence plate of the vehicle involved.

Officers located the vehicle at a Cundles Rd East address, the police were provided information that the suspects had just entered the residence and were carrying a large cardboard box.

The suspects refused to answer the door for the police, officers took up surveillance on the residence while a warrant was obtained.

A short time later a 32 year old male and a 27 year old female were arrested and charged with Theft Under and Possession Under.

The stolen television was located inside the residence.

Both parties were released with a future court date and a number of conditions to abide by.

Cause Disturbance By Swearing

On Sunday May 25, 2014 at approximately 130 am the Barrie Police Service were called to the area of Clapperton and Collier St in regards to a male party that was yelling and screaming.

Officers located an intoxicated male that was ranting and raving, the male was taken home and turned over to his mother who agreed to care for the male.

Unfortunately a short time later the male re-attended the downtown core and once again began to scream at people for an unknown reason causing a disturbance.

Officers re-attended and placed the male in custody. The 19 year old was transported to the station where he was held till sober, in the morning the male was released with a future court date and conditions not to consume alcohol.

Over 80 Mgs, Obstruct Police, FTC Recognizance, FTC Probation

Date: Sunday, May 25, 2014 (All day)
On Sunday May 25, 2014 at approximately 12 am a Barrie Police Service officer on routine patrol in the downtown core stopped a vehicle on Simcoe St.

The officer suspected the male driver to have consumed some alcohol and had the driver provide a breath sample in an approved screening device. The driver registered a warn on the approved screening device and was arrested for Over 80 Mgs.

At the time of the arrest the driver identified himself falsely, officers were eventually able to properly identify the male at which time it was learned that the male is currently before the courts on theft under charges and bound by conditions to be with his surety at all times a condition that the male was found in breach of.

The male was also found to be on probation with conditions not to consume alcohol, a condition that the male was found in breach of.

As a result the 29 year old male will face Over 80 Mgs, Obstruct Police, Fail to Comply Recognizance and Fail to Comply Probation charges.

The accused male was held for a bail hearing.

Double Drunk Driving

Date: Saturday, May 24, 2014 – 7:00pm
On Friday May 23, 2014 at approximately 7 pm the Barrie Police Service received a number of calls from citizens in regards to a possible impaired driver.

The first call came from citizens reporting that the driver of a silver Dodge Charger had been driven off the roadway and onto a front lawn of a Delaney Crescent residence.

A very short time later calls came in advising that the driver of the same silver Dodge Charger had struck a parked car in a Mapleview Drive East parking lot. A witness spoke to the driver and felt the driver was impaired.

The driver then struck a second parked car and then fled the parking lot, citizens were able to provide the police a detailed description of the driver and the last known direction of travel of the vehicle.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle a short distance away, the driver was quickly placed under arrest for impaired driving.

The driver was transported to the station where he provided breath samples more than twice the legal limit.

The 23 year old Barrie resident was released with a future court date where he will face Impaired Driving and Over 80 mgs charges.

Break and Enter

Date: Thursday, May 22, 2014 – 11:20pm

A 35 year old Barrie man broke into a downtown business that he was previously employed with. After breaking the window of the business and taking a small amount of money the male was confronted by a current employee who was outside and immediately recognized him.

The male then assaulted the employee and fled the area in a vehicle. A detailed description of the vehicle and licence plate was provided to police and the male was located at his residence and arrested.

The male was then transported to the Barrie Police Service where he kicked an officer while being booked. The male now faces charges of break and enter, assault and assault police.

Cause Disturbance

Date: Thursday, May 22, 2014 – 2:05am

Police attended a downtown strip club in regards to a female patron that had thrown a glass at one of the doorman and was causing a disturbance inside. Officers arrived and located the female who was subsequently arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk.

While on route the female continued her behaviour by smashing her head off the plastic barrier inside the police car and attempted to kick out the side windows. The female was lodged in the cells for the night and held until sober with a June court date.
