$10,000 In Tools Stolen

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On September 12, 2021 just before 12:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft from a construction site on Road 177 in the Municipality of North Perth.

Sometime between September 10, 2021 and September 12, 2021 unknown person(s) attended the property, entered a locked trailer, and removed over $10,000 in tools.  

The investigation is on-going at this time.

Lucknow Meth Bust – Names Released

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On September 29, 2021, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), South Bruce OPP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence along Willoughby Street in Lucknow. 

As a result of the execution of the warrant, police seized a quantity of Methamphetamine, “meth pipes”, syringes and 4 “home-made” weapons.

Ashley BRUNER, 32-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss Township was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Fail to comply with Undertaking

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 24, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Frank Smith, 31-years-old, of Huron-Kinloss was charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Fail to comply with Probation

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 24, 2021 to answer to the charges.

A 3rd person at scene, a 30-year-old Howick Township resident was found to be the subject of active arrest warrants. The accused was held in custody pending the result of a bail hearing.

27 Year Old From Blyth Facing Impaired Charge Following Head-on Collision

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Blyth resident will be making a trip to court later this fall to answer to an Impaired Operation charge laid by police early this morning (01Oct). 

Just after 1:00 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle head-on crash near the intersection of Bayfield Road and Forest Ridge Road.

Upon arrival police determined the accused had driven her vehicle into a parked pickup truck causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. As such the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both were found to be over the legal limit. 

Brittany DE MEDEIROS, 27 years of age, from Blyth has been charged with Impaired Operation. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 1, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. 

The accused was served with an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was also impounded.

Stolen Pickup Recovered – Repeat Offender Arrested

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A pickup truck and an all-terrain vehicle have been returned to their owners and plenty have charges have been laid following a recent investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

During the early morning hours of September 25, 2021 Huron County OPP officers were patrolling near Auburn when they observed a pickup truck with an ATV in the rear cargo box. The officers attempted to stop the pickup however the driver failed to stop, drove dangerously and fled from the officers. Officers discontinued their pursuit of the suspect vehicle however shortly thereafter an officer came across the suspect vehicle turning into a farm property located on Westfield Road. The driver attempted to flee once again however his vehicle collided with a farm implement and got bogged down in the mud.   

Officers approached the vehicle and arrested both the driver and passenger without incident.   

Subsequent investigation determined the pickup truck had been stolen from a property in Huron East a few days earlier and the ATV had just been stolen from a neighbouring property. 

The driver, Jean-Philippe GNEMMI, 34 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – two counts

·        Flight from Peace Officer

·        Mischief Under $5,000

·        Operation While Prohibited

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts

·        Fail to Comply with Release Order

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

The passenger, Ashley SOUSA, 30 years of age from Stratford has been charged with:

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – two counts

·        Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Taken Without Consent

She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 25, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – BATTYE

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On September 9, 2021, just before 10:30 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting patrols in the area of Barber Avenue North, in the Municipality of North Perth. An officer observed an individual with outstanding warrants, and an attempt to complete an arrest was initiated. After a foot pursuit, the individual was arrested. 

As a result, Daniel BATTYE, 34, of North Perth has been charged with:

  • Failure to Comply with Release Order- other than to attend court (two counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused in this matter was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Impaired Driver On Boardwalk Arrested

(GODERICH, ON) – A citizen’s call to police about a driver that was driving a motorized vehicle on the new boardwalk in Goderich has led to an arrest and a charge for a Goderich resident.

Just after 6:00 a.m. on September 29, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call about a driver that was observed driving his sport utility vehicle on the pedestrian boardwalk at the end of Cove Road. 

Officers immediately responded and were able to locate the suspect vehicle on Courthouse Square near Kingston Street. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer made some observations that the driver was possibly impaired by a drug. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly.  As a result he was arrested for Impaired Operation. 

The accused was then transported to the London OPP Detachment for testing conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). Upon completion of the evaluation the DRE deemed the driver to be impaired by a drug. 

David HARRISON, 69 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 1, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hit & Run In Exeter – 29 Year Old Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Exeter resident with a number of charges following a crash that took place earlier this week in Exeter.

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on September 29, 2021 Huron County OPP officers received a call about a two-vehicle property damage crash that took place on Main Street South in Exeter. Prior to police arrival officers learned one of the involved drivers failed to remain at the scene of the crash and walked away.

Officers were able to identify the driver and shortly after officers located the accused at a residence. Upon speaking with the driver police noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and a demand for a roadside breath test was given. The driver ultimately refused to provide a sample and also resisted arrest.

Graham BEDARD, 29 years of age from Exeter has been charged with:

·        Refuse to Comply with Demand

·        Careless Driving

·        Fail to Remain

The accused has been released from custody with court appearance scheduled for November 8, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

A 90-day automatic driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his motor vehicle has been impounded.

Fatal Collision In Chatsworth

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On October 1, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Chatsworth Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a motor cycle on Gordon Street South in the Township of Chatsworth.

The lone motorcycle rider was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased. Their identity is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.

The OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. Gordon Street South has since been reopened.

Fatal Collision Update – Name Of Deceased Released

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On September 26, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County detachment, responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a pick-up truck.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a pick-up truck was travelling westbound on Wellington Road 124 towards Cambridge when it collided with a pedestrian near the railway crossing just west of Wellington Road 32.

Cu HOANG, 58-years-old of Guelph was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The cause of the collision is being investigated by Wellington County OPP and OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI). 

The Wellington County OPP is asking anyone that may have witnessed this collision to please call 1-888-310-1122.

Meaford Meth Bust

(MEAFORD, ON) – On September 23, 2021, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) and West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members executed a Search Warrant at a property along Sykes Street in Meaford. 

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized a quantity of Methamphetamine. The estimated value of the seized controlled substance is $4,200.00. 

Police also seized offence related property including: digital scales, cell phones and meth pipes. 

Two people are facing charges as a result of this police investigation. 

Stephan LOHWINOW, 52-years-old, from the Municipality of Meaford was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 21, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Michael CHURCHILL, 40-years-old, from the Town of Collingwood was charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 21, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Impaired Driver Arrested In North Perth

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On September 8, 2021, just after 8:00 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked at a residence in the area of Perth Road 164 in the Municipality of North Perth. Police spoke with the vehicle driver who was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Jeffrey JOHNSTON, 39, of Hamilton, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The accused in this matter was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

29 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener driver after they were speeding more than 50 km/h over the limit in North Perth.

On September 4, 2021, just after 12:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on the Perth Line 86, in the Municipality of North Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 135 km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Kahlid HAREDO, 29, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–       Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

5 Facing Charges After Teens Assaulted

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Two youths and three adults are facing assault and mischief charges following a recent investigation conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit.

On September 12, 2021, two teenaged victims attended a gathering on Maitland Block Road and were assaulted.

A vehicle parked nearby sustained extensive damage due to an act of vandalism.

As a result, Huron OPP have arrested and charged the following persons:

·        Seth RILEY, 21-years-old from Huron East is facing charges of Assault & Mischief Over $5,000.

·        Jesse RILEY, 19-years old from Huron East is facing charges of Assault, Mischief Over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Undertaking

·        Jeylin RILEY, 18-years-old from Central Huron is facing a charge of Mischief Over $5,000.

·        A 17-year-old youth from Huron East is facing charges of Assault, Mischief Over $5,000 and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking

·        A 16-year-old youth from Central Huron has been charged with Mischief Over $5,000.

The identities of the youths charged cannot be revealed due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

All accused have now been released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich at a later date.

Investigators believe there may be other victims from this incident and similar incidents and are encouraging anyone with information to contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Paisley

(PAISLEY, ON) – On September 19, 2021 at 3:52 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle collision along Queen Street north in the village of Paisley. Officers arrived to find that one of the drivers had been drinking alcohol.

Nicky GIBSON, 38-years-old, of Hamilton was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 3, 2021 to answer to the charges.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

BOLO Stolen Pick-up Truck – Plate: AT80758

(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – On September 21, 2021 at 4:38 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence along Concession 6 in Greenock Township. Sometime between 3:00 a.m. on September 21, 2021 and 4:30 a.m. on September 21, 2021, a Black Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck with license # AT80758 was taken. The value of the stolen vehicle is estimated to be $25,000.
