49 Year Old From Clinton Has Vehicle Impounded For 2 Weeks

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a motor vehicle driver after they were speeding 60 km/h over the limit in the Municipality of West Perth.

On October 27, 2021, just before 9:30 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Line 44, after it was found to be travelling 140km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Shelly STONE, a 49-year-old resident of Clinton, has been charged with:

  • Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A 30 day driving suspension and 14 day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Chainsaws Stolen

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a recent break, enter and theft that took place near Kingsbridge.

Sometime between 9:00 a.m. on October 26th and 1:30 p.m. on October 28th, 2021 someone trespassed onto a Kingsbridge Line property and forced entry into two trailer units that were utilized for storage. Once inside the persons responsible stole a number of chainsaws and gasoline canisters.

Some of the stolen items included:

·        STIHL FS45 Trimmer

·        1440 model STIHL Chainsaw with a 28″ bar and chain

·        038 model STIHL Chainsaw with a 21″ bar and chain

·        036 model STIHL Chainsaw with a 18″ bar and chain

·        026 model STIHL Chainsaw with a 14″ bar and chain

·        2 – 23L full gasoline jugs

·        2 – 20L full gasoline jugs  

·        12 – Chainsaw oil containers

The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be around $5,000.

Christopher REIGER Arrested For Uttering Threats

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing one charge in the Municipality of North Perth following an incident.

On Saturday, October 23, 2021, just after 12:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an individual climbing exterior balconies in the area of Barber Avenue North, Listowel. During the investigation, it was learned that the accused had spoken to residents, and threats had been uttered. 

As a result, Christopher REIGER, a 40-year-old resident of Listowel was arrested and charged with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

17 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A teenager from Bluewater is facing an Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus charge following a traffic stop last weekend in Bayfield.

At approximately 2:48 a.m. on October 30, 2021 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols in Bayfield when a traffic offence was observed on Colina Street. The officer followed the vehicle and a traffic stop was initiated on John Avenue.  Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer had suspicions the driver had consumed some alcohol.

As a result a roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit. 

A 17-year-old from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. 

He will have attend Youth Justice Court later this fall to answer to the charge.

SUBJECT Arrested For Drunk Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On October 22, 2021, just after 6:00 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) in the Municipality of North Perth. A vehicle entered the RIDE program and the driver displayed signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

Murray SUBJECT, a 42-year-old from North Perth, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused in this matter was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge. 

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it immediately.

21 Year Old From Clifford Has Vehicle Impound For 2 Weeks

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a motor vehicle driver after they were speeding more than 60 km/h over the limit in the Township of Perth East last week.

On October 22, 2021, just before 7:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on the Perth Road 131, in the area of Line 72, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 140km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

Nicholas HUBER, a 21-year-old resident of Clifford, has been charged with:

  • Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A 30 day driving suspension and 14 day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

CAMPBELL Arrested For Drunk Driving

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On October 31, 2021 at 6:32 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Concession 8 in Brant Township. Officers arrived and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest and taken to the South Bruce OPP Detachment for testing with a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician. 

Anabele CAMPBELL, 43-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with Impaired Driving, Operate over 80 milligrams, Driving with Open Liquor and Driving with No Insurance. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, 2022 to answer to the charges.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Travis SLOANE Arrested Again

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On October 27, 2021 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residence on Inglis Falls Road after an observant homeowner reported a suspicious person on their property.   

Police arrived on scene and spoke to the individual. During the investigation it was determined that the individual had outstanding warrants, and the vehicle they had arrived in had been reported stolen.

Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged Travis SLOANE, 27 years-of-age, from Northern Bruce Peninsula with the following offences:

·        Obstruct Peace Officer

·        Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of a schedule one substance

·        Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice where he was remanded into custody.

27 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(SOUTHGATE, ON) On October 30, 2021 at approximately 1:40 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting proactive patrols in the Town of Dundalk when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked at the Dundalk Memorial Park.   

Officers spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, and during the investigation the driver was placed under arrest. The driver was transported to an OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Zachary WOOD, 27 years-of-age, from Grey Highlands with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired by alcohol, and

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released and must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 2, 2021.

The accused’s driver licence was automatically suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was towed, and impounded for 7 days.

4 Impaired Drivers Charged

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – Between October 28, 2021 and October 31, 2021, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged four impaired drivers:

  • On October 31, 2021 at 11:48 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer stopped a vehicle along 4th Avenue south east in Chesley and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Valeri MONK, 26-years-old, of Brockton was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 15, 2021 to answer to the charges.
  • On October 31, 2021 at 2:34 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer stopped a vehicle along Browns Avenue in Walkerton and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Kyle THACKERY, 31-years-old, of Brockton was charged with Impaired Driving, Operate over 80 milligrams, Drive with Open Liquor and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 15, 2021 to answer to the charges.
  • On October 30, 2021 at 2:02 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer stopped a vehicle along Concession 10 in Huron Township and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. A 17-year-old Municipality of Kincardine resident was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused can’t be named due to provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
  • On October 28, 2021 at 6:34 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver operating a Red pick-up truck. Officers located the vehicle and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Austyn MACARTHUR, 21-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 15, 2021 to answer to the charge.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Hit & Run – One Deceased, 3 Arrested

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, October 30, 2021, at approximately 4:50 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Elgin County Detachment, Middlesex County Detachment, Malahide Fire Service, Central Elgin Fire Service, and Elgin EMS responded to a collision on Wilson Line east of Belmont Road, Malahide Township.

A stolen vehicle was involved in a fatal collision with a cyclist. The cyclist was pronounced deceased on scene, identified as Michael SMITH, 59 years old, of London.

Three parties were located, arrested and charged with the assistance of West Region Canine and West Region Emergency Response Team members.

Elgin County Detachment and West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team continue to investigate. 

The investigation is still continuing and further updates will be provided when they become available.

Seaforth Meth Bust – One Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – A resident of Seaforth is facing a Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charge following an arrest made by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this week.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on October 28, 2021 members of the Huron OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) observed the accused, a wanted person, walking on Jarvis Street in Seaforth. Officers were able to arrest the accused for his outstanding warrant and as a result of a search incident to arrest the accused was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. The estimated street value of the seized methamphetamine is $2400. 

Huron County OPP has charged Christopher DALTON, 44 years of age from Seaforth with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. 

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for December 13, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Clinton Collision Results In Arrest Of 21 Year Old

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Central Huron resident is facing Impaired Operation charges following an automobile crash that took place last night in Clinton. 

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on October 28, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the intersection of Victoria Street and East Street in Clinton to investigate a two-vehicle crash. Officers arrived on scene to find a T-bone collision between a pickup truck and a compact vehicle.  

Upon speaking with the driver of the compact vehicle the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment. As such the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath tests were taken and both were found to be over the legal limit. 

Cory DURRER, 21 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 29, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hit & Run – Suspect @ Large

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A fail to remain motor vehicle collision that knocked down power lines this morning west of Clinton remains under investigation by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Just after 4:00 a.m. Huron OPP officers responded to Huron Road (Highway 8) near Stone School Road to investigate a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers located a small sports car that had crashed into the north ditch and caused damage to some of the hydro wires. The damage to the hydro wires also caused localized power outages.

A search of the area was conducted however no one was found with the vehicle. 

Police are trying to determine who was operating the motor vehicle at the time of the collision.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Wingham Facing 20 Charges

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A Huron County man is facing twenty charges following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) & the Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU).

Investigators determined that during the early morning hours of October 25th and October 26th, 2021 the accused trespassed onto residential properties in the Town of Wingham and stole various items from unattended vehicles.     

The accused also stole a sport utility vehicle from a Boland Street property and later when police spotted the stolen vehicle the driver took off and failed to stop.      

Police eventually located the stolen vehicle parked on Shuter Street and the accused was found inside. Upon arresting the accused police noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment, thus he was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for a drug recognition evaluation. The evaluation was conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and the accused was deemed to be impaired by a drug. 

A search incident to arrest also revealed the accused to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, stolen identification, stolen debit cards and unmarked cigarettes. Further, some checks on the accused also revealed his driver’s licence was under suspension and he was also prohibited from driving.

Matthew BOUVIER, 30 years of age from Seaforth is facing the following charges:

·        Trespass at Night – 2 counts

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – 4 counts

·        Possession of an Identity Document

·        Theft of Motor Vehicle

·        Failure to Stop after Accident

·        Flight from Police Officer

·        Dangerous Operation

·        Operation While Impaired

·        Operation While Prohibited – 2 counts

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

·        Driving While Under Suspension – 3 counts

·        Possess Unmarked Cigarettes

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 28, 2021 the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
