Drunk Driver Arrested After Police Follow Boot Prints In Snow

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A resident of Central Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation after police responded yesterday afternoon to a call about a motor vehicle in the ditch on Airport Line.

At approximately 2:08 p.m. on February 2, 2022 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a report of a car that was stuck in the ditch on Airport Line near Bayfield Road. Officers responded to the area where they located an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch. Officers were able to follow some boot prints in the snow and it led them to the driver that was located nearby waiting for a tow. 

While speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying noticeable signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Dale BRINDLEY, 46 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 28, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

MORRISON – Methamphetamine & Cocaine

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with drug possession charges following an arrest made in Vanastra.

On February 1, 2022 at approximately 4:42 p.m. Huron OPP officers were at an apartment building in Vanastra when they observed a suspect that was wanted for outstanding criminal offences. Officers were able to speak with the subject and he was taken into custody.  The accused was searched incident to arrest and he was found to be in possession of suspected Cocaine and Methamphetamine.

Robert MORRISON, 30 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine & Methamphetamine). The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 28, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender From Clinton Arrested Again – WHITFIELD

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Central Huron resident is facing criminal charges after he was caught with a stolen pickup truck near Belfast. 

On January 25, 2022 at approximately 10:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling on Belfast Road when they came across a pickup truck being pulled out of the ditch. 

Upon speaking with the driver and completing some checks on the vehicle the investigating officer determined the vehicle was in fact stolen from London. In addition, the attached licence plates were not authorized to be on the pickup truck. 

The driver was promptly arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Nollan WHITFIELD, 36 years of age from Clinton has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000, Fail to Comply with Probation Order and Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 14, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested Following Foot Chase In Wingham

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a local man after he was caught with a stolen snowmobile this week in Wingham. 

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on January 31, 2022 a Huron OPP officer took notice of a man that parked a snowmobile in a suspicious manner at a gas station in Wingham. When the driver of the snowmobile went into the gas station the officer completed some checks on the machine and it was quickly determined it was recently stolen from Saugeen Shores. 

When the operator returned to the snowmobile he immediately took off running when he noticed the officer. A foot pursuit ensued and the suspect initially escaped custody however he was eventually tracked to a nearby backyard and was taken into custody. 

 Michael VOCK, 44 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with:

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

·        Escape Lawful Custody

·        Resist Peace Officer

·        Fail to Comply with Release Order – 6 counts

·        Operation While Prohibited – 5 counts

·        Driving While Under Suspension

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 3, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Donald HENDERSON – Drunk Driving Causing Bodily Harm

(BRUCE TWP, ON) – On November 18, 2021 at 5:48 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Bruce County Road 20 and Bruce County Road 23 in Bruce Township. Officers responded with members of Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

One vehicle was westbound on Bruce County Road 20 and the other was northbound on Bruce County Road 23 at the time of the collision.

As a result of the police investigation, charges have been laid.

Donald HENDERSON, 36-years-old, of Sarnia has been charged with Impaired Operation causing Bodily Harm, Operate Over 80 milligrams and Dangerous Driving causing Bodily Harm. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 9, 2022 to answer to the charges.

Evan SYMONDS – Drunk Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On January 31, 2022 at 8:52 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch along Sutton Street in Kincardine. Officers arrived and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Following a roadside screening test, the driver was placed under arrest and taken for breath testing with a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician. 

Evan SYMONDS, 34-years-old, of Niagara Region was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams and Careless Driving. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 16, 2022 to answer to the charges.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

42 Year Old From Chatsworth Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(CHATSWORTH TWP, ON) – On February 2, 2022 at 12:32 a.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle along Grey County Road 25 in Chatsworth Township. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Cheryl MITCHELL, 42-years-old, of Chatsworth Township was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 2, 2022.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Assault With Weapon, Trespass etc.

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person was injured after an assault in West Perth.

On February 01 2022, just after 3:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that had just occurred at a residence on James Street, in Mitchell. The accused had attended the address and struck a person with a weapon, and caused damage to two vehicles that were at the residence.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Tyson NETHERY, 24, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:

–       Assault Causing Bodily Harm

–       Assault with a Weapon

–       Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

–       Mischief Over $5000 (two counts)

–       Trespassing at Night

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Drug & Weapon Bust In Chatsworth

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On January 27, 2022, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), and the OPP Canine Unit executed a search warrant on a property located in the Township of Chatsworth.

As a result of the investigation, the Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged Todd GRIFFITH, 51 years-old, from the Township of Chatsworth with the following offences:

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (three counts)

·        Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)

·        Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance

·        Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

·        Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

A search of the property resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, hydromorphone and other controlled substances.

The individual was remanded into custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Thief Arrested In Listowel – PEAVOY

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A person has been charged for theft after they were caught shoplifting at a local business.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the business on Mitchell Road South, Listowel on January 30, 2022, just before 11:30 a.m., after a person was witnessed shoplifting.

Rachel PEAVOY, 28, of Guelph-Eramosa Township, has been charged with:

–       Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

33 Year Old Arrested At RIDE

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Another impaired driver has been removed from the roads after proactive policing in the Township of Perth East.

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on January 29 2022, just before 1:00 a.m., on Mill Street East, in Perth East, when a vehicle stop was conducted. During the investigation, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. They were arrested, and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Travis LEHMANN, 33, of Perth East, has been charged with:

–       Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Driver Stuck In Snow Arrested

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A resident of Huron East has been charged with Impaired Operation after police received a call about a possible impaired driver stuck in the snow on St. Michael’s Road this past weekend. 

At approximately 2:16 a.m. on January 30, 2022 Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of a pickup truck that was stuck in the snow off of St. Michael’s Road. Upon arrival officers located a pickup truck that appeared to be bottomed out in the snow partially off the shoulder of the roadway. 

The investigating officer spoke with the driver and noticeable signs of impairment were observed. The driver was arrested and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Matthew DEJONG, 36 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus and Operation While Prohibited – two counts. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 7, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

$110,000 Drug Bust

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A South Huron resident is facing seventeen charges and remains in custody following a drug trafficking investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU).

On January 18, 2022 police executed a search warrant at a residence located on Centre Street in Dashwood. As a result of the search warrant police seized a large quantity of Fentanyl and other controlled substances with a combined street value in excess of $110,000.

Police secured an arrest warrant for the accused and with the assistance of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Team the accused was located and arrested this past weekend.

Blair SIMMONS, 37 years of age, from Dashwood has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Fentanyl for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Heroin for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Psilocybin for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order – 5 counts
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – 3 counts
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm – 2 counts
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 1, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Cruiser Struck & Foot Chase – 26 Year Old Arrested

(PERTH EAST, ON) – An observant officer investigating a suspicious vehicle led to a damaged cruiser, and numerous charges for a Stratford resident.

Just after 4:00 a.m. on January 27, 2022, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol on Perth Line 40, in the Township of Perth East, located a suspicious vehicle on a property. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it struck the cruiser and tried to flee. The vehicle became stuck, and the suspect fled on foot. While fleeing, the suspect committed a break and enter at a nearby property. With the assistance of the OPP Canine and West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), the suspect was located a short distance away and arrested.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle the suspect was operating had been stolen.

As a result, Jacob PATERSON, 26, of Stratford, has been charged with:

–       Break, Enter a Place -Commit Indictable Offence

–       Trespassing at Night

–       Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

–       Dangerous Operation

–       Failure to Stop After Accident

–       Flight from Peace Officer

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order

–       Possession of Break In Instruments

–       Break, Enter a Place – with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

19 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On January 26, 2022 at 6:51 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Concession 2 in Brant Township. Officers arrived to find that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Alyssa CHAMPAGNE, 19-years-old, of Hanover was charged with Impaired Operation and Operate Over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 9, 2022 to answer to the charges.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.
