Lana NEILL – Drunk Driving

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – On May 14, 2022, at 3:23 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Elginfield Road, North Middlesex.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Lana NEILL, a 40-year-old of Parkhill, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to speak to the charges.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

18 Year Old Vs Guardrails Results In Charges

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A driver was charged after they collided with multiple guardrails.  

On May 15, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Perth Line 56 in the Township of Perth East. The investigation indicated that a vehicle ran off the road and hit multiple guardrails.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

Sterling GRUBB, 18, of Wellesley, has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

–      Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused was issued Provincial Offence Notices for the offences.

Tree Involved In Hit & Run

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged with multiple offences after hitting a tree and leaving the scene.

On May 16, 2022, just before 1:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Main Street East in the Municipality of North Perth.  

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the driver drove into a tree. Both occupants left the scene prior to police arrival but were located a short time later. The driver and passenger of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries. 

As a result, Reynaldo BARRUETA BRENA, 31, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

–      Fail to remain

–      Drive motor vehicle – no license

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Assault, Theft, Etc.

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a person after a domestic disturbance occurrence.

On May 15, 2022, police were called to domestic incident in progress, in the Municipality of North Perth. During the investigation, it was determined that one person involved had assaulted the other. The victim sustained minor injuries.

A 25-year-old of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – spousal (two counts)

–      Failure to comply with release order- other than to attend court

–      Escape lawful custody

–      Breach of Recognizance

–      Theft Under $5,000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Cocaine Bust – Suspended Driver Arrested

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Huron-Kinloss man is facing a drug possession charge and a charge for driving while suspended following a traffic stop that took place last week in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. 

On Thursday, May 12, 2022 at approximately 9:00 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was doing scene security at a property on Zion Road when he was approached by a motorist looking to see what was going on. 

The officer had knowledge that the driver was a suspended driver so a traffic stop was initiated. Upon confirming the licence suspension the driver was placed under arrest and searched. A search incident to arrest resulted in police locating a small quantity of suspected cocaine in the vehicle. 

John WAIN, 47 years of age from Huron-Kinloss has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 4, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Road Rage – LEE Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A South Huron resident is facing criminal charges following a disturbance that took place last night on Union Road. 

On Monday, May 16, 2022 at approximately 7:10 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to Union Road to investigate a disturbance between a pedestrian and a motorist. Police learned the victim was out for a walk when the driver of a minivan stopped, yelled at the victim, exited his vehicle and approached the victim in a very confrontational manner. 

Soon after officers located the suspect vehicle and spoke with the suspect. Upon speaking with the suspect officers noted the driver had been consuming alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. As a result, the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. Two breath samples were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

Christopher LEE, 38 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Assault,  Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused has since been released with a court appearance scheduled for June 13, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Wroxeter Racer Caught Going 100+ in a 60

(HOWICK, ON) – A Perth County resident had his vehicle impounded and his licence suspended this past weekend after he was caught racing through Wroxeter. 

On Sunday, May 15, 2022 at approximately 8:21 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR patrols in Wroxeter when he observed a compact vehicle travelling eastbound through the village at a high rate of speed. A speed measurement was taken and the vehicle was found to be travelling more than 40 km/h over the posted 60 km/h zone. 

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was subsequently charged. Peter STEWART, 23 years of age from Listowel has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle – Perform a Stunt. The defendant now has to attend Provincial Offences Act court in Goderich to answer to the charge.

26 Year Old From Goderich Arrested After Incident At Campground – BROMMER

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a resident of Goderich with Impaired Operation & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a collision investigation by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend. 

On Sunday, May 15, 2022 at approximately 12:25 a.m. Huron County OPP officers responded to a campground on Orchard Line to investigate a report of driver that reversed into a parked vehicle. 

Upon arrival the investigating officer spoke with the involved driver and observed several signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and breath tests were later provided to the Intoxilizer Technician. Both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Nicholas BROMMER, 26 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 4, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Meth Bust – $250,000 In Stolen Property Recovered – MCLEAN, VANDIEPENBEEK & BEYNEN

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – On Thursday, May 12, 2022, members from the Grey-Bruce, Middlesex-Elgin, Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Units (CSCU), along with assistance from West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) executed search warrants at three properties in the Municipality of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. 

Officers searched two properties located on Zion Road and another on Belfast Road. 

Two additional search warrants were later executed on two vehicles. 

As a result of the execution of the search warrants, a total of four individuals are now facing charges and over $250,000 in stolen property was recovered.  

Police also seized suspected Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone with an estimated street value of $3,080. 

Three firearms, ammunition and a compound bow were also seized. 

Some of the stolen property that was recovered included:

  • A zero-degree turn lawnmower
  • A skid steer
  • Four pickup trucks
  • Three motorcycles
  • A side-by-side Utility Vehicle (UTV)
  • An all-terrain vehicle (ATV)
  • A camper trailer
  • Two utility trailers

Police also seized a kit used for changing Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) on vehicles.     

Jonathan MCLEAN, 39 years of age from South Bruce has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 16 counts
  • Breach of Firearms Regulation – Careless Storage – 3 counts
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – 3 counts
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking – 3 counts
  • Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number – 2 counts
  • Trafficking in Stolen Goods
  • Fraudulent Concealment
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydromorphone

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 20, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

John VANDIEPENBEEK, 41 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with: 

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 10 counts
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order – 2 counts
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking – 2 counts

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 20, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Sonja BEYNEN, 22 years of age from Huron-Kinloss has been charged with:

  • Breach of Firearms Regulation – Careless Storage – 3 counts
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – 3 counts
  • Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Hydromorphone
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – 2 counts

The accused has since been released from court with a court appearance scheduled for June 20, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. 

The fourth accused remains outstanding.

Drunk Tractor Driver Arrested – JANTZI

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another impaired driver in the Municipality of North Perth.

On May 11, 2022, just after 12:00 a.m., an officer observed a tractor that was swerving on Queen Avenue in Monkton.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

Taylor JANTZI, 28 of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Drunk Driver From Owen Sound Arrested

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On May 14, 2022, at 11:16 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch along Highway 21 in the Municipality of Kincardine. Officers located the vehicle and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Mabel MOLE, 41-years-old, of Owen Sound, was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Meaford Drug & Weapon Bust

(MEAFORD, ON) – On May 11, 2022, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the Wellington County CSCU, Huron Perth CSCU and OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant on a property located in the Municipality of Meaford.

As a result of the investigation, the Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged Amanda ARMITAGE, 43 years-old, from the Municipality of Meaford with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Unauthorized Possession of a weapon

The Grey Bruce OPP have also arrested and charged Quinton ARMITAGE, 18-years-old, from the Municipality of Meaford with the following offences:

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

·        Possession for the purpose of distributing

A search of the property resulted in the seizure of suspected controlled substances, offence related property, and a weapon. The approximate value of the seized property is $32,437

Both accused individuals were released and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

84 Year Old Driver Hits Pedestrian

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On May 16, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious collision involving a single motor vehicle at MacDonald Square, Elora. Initial reports indicated that a white sedan had lost control and struck a pedestrian before coming to rest against a building.

OPP, Centre Wellington Fire Rescue and Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service responded. A pedestrian, a 67-year-old female from Elora, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver, an 84-year-old female from Elora, was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the collision is being investigated.

73 Year Old Driver Falls Asleep & Hits Tree

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person was charged after leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

On May 5, 2022, just after 4:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle that drove into a tree on Line 42 in the Township of Perth East. The investigation indicated that the driver had fallen asleep while driving.

There were no serious injuries as a result of the collision.

Dale CRESSMAN, 73, of Clinton, has been charged with:

The accused was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for the offence.

Collison On 86 – SCHMIDT Charged

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person was charged after another rear-end collision in North Perth.

On May 8, 2022, just before 3:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Perth Line 86 in the Township of Perth East. The investigation indicated that a vehicle was slowing down when another vehicle drove into the rear of the first vehicle.  

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision.

Shelley SCHMIDT, 60, of Listowel, has been charged with:

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
