Theft & Fraud In Brussels – Girhord WIEBE Charged

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On July 9, 2022, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft of a wallet from a business located on Mitchell Road South in the Municipality of North Perth.

As a result of the investigation and reviewing surveillance, police charged one person involved in this incident.

Girhord WIEBE, 26, of Brussels, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000

–      Theft of Credit Card

–      Fraud Under $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

32 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On August 7, 2022, just before 1:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Perth Line 20 in the Municipality of West Perth.  

A vehicle proceeded through the RIDE checkpoint without stopping. Police were able to stop the vehicle a short time later. Upon speaking with a driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Katherine DIMAS, a 32-year-old resident of Kleinburg has been charged with the following:

–      Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Dangerous operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

12 Year Old Injured In Hit & Run

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Driver failed to remain at the scene of a collision, after their vehicle collided with a 12-year-old cyclist.

On August 5, 2022, just after 7:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist on Line 75 in the Municipality of North Perth. The investigation indicated that the vehicle collided with the pedestrian. A small grey SUV vehicle was observed speeding off.

One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Wanted Man Arrested – Michael RYAN

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On August 6, 2022, just after 4:00 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle on Queen Street East in the Municipality of North Perth.  

The driver was arrested on an outstanding Bench Warrant. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver had consumed drugs. The driver was transported to a local operations centre for further testing.

As a result, Michael RYAN, 49, of Sarnia, has been charged with:

–      Failure to comply with undertaking

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Methamphetamine

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Aaron WEDGE

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid numerous charges against a Goderich resident following two theft occurrences that took place in Goderich this week.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Huron OPP officers received a report of a theft of a laptop that took place at the library in Goderich. Then yesterday afternoon officers received a report of a cell phone that was stolen from a business located on Huron Road.

Following some investigation police identified and arrested the involved suspect. The suspect resisted arrest and tried to flee however he was unsuccessful. A search incident to arrest revealed the accused to be in possession of the stolen cell phone and laptop.

Aaron WEDGE, 31 years of age from Goderich has been charged with: Theft Under $5,000 – two counts, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – two counts, Resist Peace Officer and Fail to Comply with Probation Order – nine counts. 

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 10, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Howick Meth Bust – BAKER & STILLING

(HOWICK, ON) – Members from the Huron & Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) have laid criminal charges against a couple following a traffic stop early yesterday morning.

On Thursday, August 4, 2022, members from the Huron & Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit followed a vehicle that left a residence in Wroxeter to a gas station located in Harriston and completed a traffic stop.

Officers noted the licence plate attached to the vehicle was not registered nor authorized to be on the vehicle. Further, upon closer examination officers noted the licence plate had been altered. Upon checking on the actual licence plate number police soon learned the licence plate had recently been reported stolen.   

While speaking with the occupants officers also observed suspected methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Both occupants were placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest resulted in police seizing suspected methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $4,600. Additionally, police seized a pellet rifle and pellet handgun from the vehicle. 

Casandra BAKER, 29 years of age from Wroxeter has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle, Use Altered Plate and Operate Motor Vehicle No Insurance. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 22, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Elliott STILLING, 33 years of age from North Perth has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 5, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Two Arrested After Theft – BROTHERS & DELELLIS

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On July 29, 2022, at 2:54 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a business in the 1700 block of Highway 21 in the Municipality of Kincardine. Responding officers located a suspect vehicle enroute to the call and the two occupants were taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the police investigation, two individuals have been charged with a number of offences.

Michael BROTHERS, 51-years-old of London is charged with:

  • 2 counts of Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Driving while under Suspension

Mario DELELLIS, 52-years-old, of London is charged with:

  • 2 counts of Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

Both of the accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Clifford Meth Bust

(CLIFFORD, ON) – On August 4, 2022, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious person on James Street East, Clifford.

As a result of the investigation, Charles Henry BRIDGES, 37-years-old of Guelph, has been charged with the following:

·        CC 354(1)(a) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

·        CDSA 4(1) Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine

·        CDSA 4(1) Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Opiod (other than heroin)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a later date.

2 More Impaired Drivers

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two impaired drivers this past weekend.

  • On July 30, 2022, at 11:48 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer stopped an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) along Albert Road in Bruce Township. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Kevin WITHERS, 34-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charge
  • On July 30, 2022, at 4:37 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a single vehicle collision along Bismark Street in Mildmay. Officers attended the scene and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Raymond ELDER, 61-years-old, of West Grey Township was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charge.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Impaired Driver Arrested After Rear-ender

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a resident of London with Operation While Impaired and several other criminal charges following an automobile crash investigated by police this past weekend. 

On Sunday, July 31, 2022, at approximately 5:08 p.m. Huron County OPP officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mill Road and Parr Line. Upon arrival officers learned the accused had rear-ended a pickup truck at the intersection. While speaking with the accused the investigating officer also made some observations that led him to believe the accused was impaired by a drug. 

As such a Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) test was completed and the driver performed poorly. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) completed further testing. The driver was ultimately deemed to be impaired by a drug and was charged.

During the course of the investigation the accused obstructed the police investigation by providing a false name and date of birth to the officers. Additionally, a search of the vehicle revealed the driver to be in possession of suspected fentanyl. 

Stacey SCAMAN, 41 years of age from London has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Obstruct Peace Officer, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid, Failure to Comply with Undertaking – 2 counts and Dangerous Operation. The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 12, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Break & Enter – Andrew KROPF Arrested

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On August 3, 2022, members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break, enter and theft at a business located on Line 34 in the Township of Perth East.  

The business is equipped with a monitored security system. Police were alerted after a motion alarm was set off.

Police arrested a male leaving the area with a bag containing stolen property from the business.

As a result of this police investigation, Andrew KROPF, a 20-year-old resident of Perth South has been arrested and charged with:

–      Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence

–      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

–      Obstruct Peace Officer

–      Resist Peace Officer

–      Assault A Peace Officer with a weapon

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Drug Bust In Wroxeter

(HOWICK, ON) – A North Perth man is facing several charges following a traffic stop that took place in Wroxeter last week. 

On Thursday, July 28, 2022, at approximately 11:26 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer initiated a traffic stop of a sport utility vehicle that was travelling northbound on Howick Street in Wroxeter. 

The driver failed to have his driver’s licence on him and he then proceeded to identify himself with a false name. The investigating officer questioned the name provided and through some further investigation the officer was able to determine driver’s correct name and date of birth.

The driver was also found to be driving with a suspended driver’s licence. Upon a search incident to arrest the driver was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl as well as a switchblade and unmarked cigarettes.

Darryl BOUDREAU, 59 years of age from North Perth has been charged with: Obstruct Peace Officer, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl, Failure to Comply with Undertaking, Driving While Under Suspension and Possess Unmarked Cigarettes.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for August 15, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

$150,000 In Stolen Property Recovered

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On July 29, 2022, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant on a property located in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

A search of the property resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, stolen property, and other offence related property valued at over $150,000.

The investigation remains ongoing by member of the CSCU, and further updates will be provided as they become available.

Fatal Collision Update – Name Of Deceased Released

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle collision that took place last night near Goderich.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on July 30, 2022, Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and the Goderich Fire Department responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on Golf Course Road west of Lucknow Line (Huron County #1).

Upon arrival first responders located a heavily damaged compact vehicle that left the roadway and ended up in field on the north side of the road.  All five occupants were transported to hospital for treatment. 

One of the occupants later succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.

The deceased, a passenger in the vehicle, has been identified as Euan MUIR, 18 years of age from Goderich. 

The other occupants were all treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from hospital.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

Golf Course Road has now re-opened for public travel.

Goat Vs Vehicle Collision – 16 Year Old Injured

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On July 28, 2022, at 9:56 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County Emergency Services (EMS) responded to a report of a collision involving a single motor vehicle on Sixth Line just west of Argyle Street South in Caledonia. The motor vehicle involved had struck a goat that in turn struck a 16-year-old passerby that was attempting to move the goat off the road.

The pedestrian was transported to an out-of-town hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The goat was located deceased in the westbound lane ditch.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

OPP continue to investigate the collision.
