Bryce TROY – Drunk Driving Lawn Tractor

(WALKERTON, ON) – On June 22, 2014 at 12:18 am, a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along John Street in Walkerton stopped a man riding a lawn tractor. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. 36 year old Bryce TROY of Brockton has been charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. He was held in custody pending the results of a show cause hearing scheduled for June 22, 2014.

Break and Enter

(KINCARDINE TWP, ON) – On June 22, 2014 at 2:53 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break in at a residence along Golf Course Trail in Kincardine. Sometime between 6:00 pm on June 16, 2014 and 2:00 pm on June 22, 2014 entry was forcibly gained through a window at the back of the house. The list of stolen property includes a 4 piece Sony stereo system, blue and white checkered table cloth, woodstove shovel and a woodstove whisk. The value of the stolen property and damage repair is estimated to be more than $700.

Successful Joint Traffic Enforcement Initiative

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On Thursday the 19th of June 2014, Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) partnered up with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to conduct a joint traffic enforcement initiative with the main focus being commercial motor vehicles.

In total, 18 commercial motor vehicles were stopped and safety inspections were completed at various locations. The results are as follows:

-One truck had its plates removed due to numerous defects

-Six had to have repairs done before leaving

– Five had minor defects but were allowed to continue on and the final six had zero defects.

Commercial vehicle safety is a priority and Bruce Peninsula OPP would ask all commercial vehicle owners and operators to do their part in keeping Ontario roadways safe.

16 Year Old Faces Theft, Break and Enter, Breach and Alcohol Charges

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Yesterday morning, just before 8:00 a.m. a Dungannon resident was awakened to the sound of breaking glass coming from her neighbour’s back yard located on Albert Street. She peered into her neighbour’s yard and observed a young male trying to gain entry into her neighbour’s Ford pickup truck.

The alert witness immediately called police and reported the crime in progress. As police were en-route to the scene police learned the victim had followed the suspect and had a visual on him. Police located the suspect on Southampton Street and were able to arrest him without incident.

Upon further investigation officers learned the young male tried to steal a quantity of cash from the pickup truck along with the property from within the residence prior to being confronted by the homeowner. Upon arrest, officers determined the male had been consuming alcohol and was also currently serving a probation sentence.

As a result, a 16 year old Young Person from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was charged with the following offences:

Mischief Under $5,000

Theft Under $5,000 from a motor vehicle

Break, Enter a Dwelling House with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence

Theft Under $5,000

Failure to Comply with a Disposition

Person Under 19 years Consuming Liquor.

He had a bail hearing today at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Serious Vehicle Collision Update

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) As a result of Monday’s two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 8 and Road 125, one of the drivers has succumbed to injuries sustained.

Kenneth EATON (45) of Stratford, passed away at a London Hospital today.

Investigation revealed that at approximately 6 p.m. Monday June 16, 2014, Mr. EATON was operating a silver Toyota sedan that was travelling east bound in the east bound lane on Hwy 8. When his Toyota neared the intersection of Road 125, it crossed over into the west bound lane where a Chevrolet Blazer was travelling west bound. A frontal collision ensued resulting in extensive damage to both vehicles.

The 38 year old female driver of the Chevrolet Blazer, a Stratford resident, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries following the crash. She has since been released from hospital.

The OPP Western Region Traffic Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and is continuing their investigation into this crash.

Fernando DEMELO – Caught Trying To Steal Camper Trailer

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 33 year old is facing a charge of theft after he was caught in the act trying to steal a camper trailer last night. Just before 8:00 p.m. officers responded to the Bluewater Golf Course & Campground located on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway after receiving a call from the property owner. Police learned two males were on the property and were in the process of hooking onto a used Belair camper trailer when they were confronted by the owner. The suspects made up a story but the owner didn’t buy it. As the owner was calling police the suspects fled the scene.

Early this morning, at about 1:30 a.m. Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers encountered the suspect vehicle, a silver Dodge Pickup on Road 130 in the Municipality of Perth South. The driver was arrested for the attempted theft of the trailer.

As a result, Huron County OPP has charged 33 year old Fernando DEMELO from Huron East with one count of Theft Under $5,000 contrary to section 334 (b) Criminal Code. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 7, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Michael McDONALD – Ditch Drunk Drivnig

(ELDERSLIE TWP, ON) – On June 18, 2014 at 4:57 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle crash along Bruce County Road 3 in Elderslie Township. Officers arrived to find that a Red Ford pick-up truck left the roadway and came to rest in the ditch. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. 64 year old Michael McDONALD of Brant County has been charged with Impaired driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 21, 2014 to answer to the charges.

Police Investigating Daylight Break In

(ARRAN TWP, ON) – On June 18, 2014 at 8:06 pm, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break in at a residence in the 4000 block of Bruce County Road 3 in Arran Township. Sometime between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm on June 18, 2014, the home was entered through a window and a quantity of cash was taken.

One Airlifted To Hospital

(HURON EAST, ON) – Yesterday afternoon around 4:40 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Seaforth Fire Department and Huron County EMS personnel responded to a two vehicle collision that sent one driver to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a Ford Explorer Sport Trac was travelling westbound on Hullett-MCKILLOP Road when he entered the intersection and collided with a Jeep Patriot that was southbound on North Line.

The driver and lone occupant of the Jeep Patriot, 63 year old Christian ENK from Seaforth was transported to hospital in London by air ambulance with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford Explorer Sport Trac, an 18 year old male from Brussels and his 16 year old female passenger also from Brussels sustained minor injuries.

The OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) continues to investigate the cause of the crash.

25 Year Old Gets 3 Day Suspension

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 25 year old male driver had his driver’s license suspended earlier this week after he blew a warn range reading. At approximately 8:00 p.m. on June 13, 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped the driver of an Oldsmobile on Halls Hill Line near Dungannon.

Upon speaking with the driver officers noted the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device and he registered a warn range level reading. As a result, a 25 year old male from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was served with a three day driver’s license suspension.

Prom Party Ends With Three Day Suspension

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 21 year old on his way home from a prom party was served with a three day driver’s license suspension just before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014. A Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped the driver of a Toyota on East Street in Clinton.

While speaking with the young driver the officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver produced a warn range level reading. As a result, the 21 year old male driver from Goderich was served with a three day driver’s license suspension and his motor vehicle was impounded for three days.

Driver Served With 3 Day Suspension

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 55 year old male recently lost his driving privileges for three days following a traffic stop on June 14, 2014. At 2:15 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checks at the intersection of Bluewater Veteran’s Highway and Mill Road when a driver attempted to avoid the checkpoint.

Officers observed the driver of a Red Dodge pickup abruptly truck turn off in a manner to avoid the checkpoint. Officers followed the driver and stopped him nearby. Upon speaking with the driver the officer detected the driver had been drinking alcohol.

The driver provided a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device and he registered a warning. As a result, a 55 year old male from Dundalk was served with a three day driver’s license suspension. His motor vehicle was also impounded for three days.

Colton DURIE – 160 in an 80

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A novice driver was recently charged with racing following a traffic stop on Airport Line north of Exeter. Just before 10:30 a.m. on June 11, 2014 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed the driver of an Austin Mini Cooper pass two vehicles heading westbound out of Exeter on Dashwood Road. The driver turned north onto Airport Line and accelerated at a high rate of speed. The driver continued northbound as the officer paced the vehicle. The driver reached a speed of 160 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone prior to stopping for police on Airport Line.

Upon stopping and speaking with the driver it was determined he was a class G1 licence holder that failed to be accompanied by a driver with at least four years of driving experience.

As a result, 24 year old Colton DURIE from Goderich has been charged with the Highway Traffic offences of Racing and Class G1 Licence Holder Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver. He has a court appearance scheduled for August 19, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

His motor vehicle was also impounded for a mandatory seven days.

Fuel Stolen From Bulk Tank

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Tuesday June 17, 2014, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by a resident who lives a long Line 87, north-west of Listowel. The resident reported a theft of gasoline from a locked bulk fuel tank located on the farm property.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 7 p.m. on Monday June 16th and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 17th, the culprit entered onto the property with a vehicle. The lock on the fuel tank was cut and approximately $500 worth of gasoline was pumped from the tank. A vehicle with a fuel tank located inside of a van type vehicle or a pickup truck with a tank in the box may have been utilized to complete the theft.

Anyone with information about this theft, or having observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of the theft during the above noted hours, is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Police Interrupt Drug Deal At Dungannon Tractor Pull

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 24 year old male was caught in the act trying to sell drugs this past weekend at the Dungannon Tractor Pull. Just before 11:30 p.m. on June 13, 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on foot patrol at the Dungannon Tractor Pull fairgrounds spotted two males acting suspiciously. Officers watched as the males entered a parked vehicle.

The officers kept a close eye and then approached the vehicle to find a male in the driver’s seat with a quantity of cash in his hand. As the officer was watching the male the officer observed a quantity of suspected cocaine fall from the driver’s seat to the floor board of the vehicle.

The driver was immediately placed under arrest for Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking. A search incident to arrest was completed and police seized a quantity of cash, suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, 24 year old Jordan FEDY, 24, from Walkerton has been charged with: Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) for the Purposes of Trafficking. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for July 28, 201 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
