Passport, Tvs, Liquor, etc Stolen During Break And Enter

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On March 8, 2020, OPP officers in West Perth responded to the report of a break-and-enter on Rowland Street in Mitchell. The incident occurred sometime overnight.

The suspects entered the residence through the attached garage and stole a number of items including three televisions and associated electronics, liquor, a passport, clothing, currency and some miscellaneous items.

Fatal Head On Collision

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On March 11, 2020 at 2:16 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a two vehicle fatal head-on motor vehicle collision on Southgate Sideroad 49 north of Southgate Sideroad 24, Southgate in Grey County.

OPP officers attended and found the 72 year old driver of a (blue) sport utility vehicle deceased at the scene. The 77 year old driver of the other vehicle, a (white) car sustained non-life threatening injured and was transported to hospital. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

OPP Technical Traffic Investigators attended and assisted with the investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours. OPP will not be releasing the identity of the deceased until next of kin are notified.

Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Pedestrian Struck In Wingham Hit And Run

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently on scene of a fail to remain collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian that has taken place at the north end of Wingham.

At approximately 2:13 p.m. (11Mar) Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and North Huron Fire Department responded to a crash involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian located on Josephine Street (Huron County #4) near B Line Road.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently receiving treatment for undetermined injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck failed to remain at the scene of the crash.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team members are on scene assisting with the collision investigation.

Huron OPP has closed down the roadway for the collision investigation.

19 Year Old Drunk Driver With Three Rifles Arrested Following Collisions

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A young driver from Wellesley is facing several criminal charges following two crashes he was involved in this past weekend.

On Friday, March 6, 2020 at around 5:41 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a motorist that had just been rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle as he was travelling eastbound on Belgrave Road. The suspect driver of the sport utility vehicle failed to pull over and continued on past the vehicle he rear-ended.

The victim followed the sport utility vehicle and not far away the driver of the sport utility vehicle ditched his vehicle at the intersection of Currie Line and Reid Road. Officers responded to the scene whereupon they located the driver of the sport utility vehicle. Upon speaking to the young male driver the investigating officer noticed the driver was displaying several signs of impairment by alcohol.

As a result the driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and was taken into custody. Upon searching the accused’s vehicle officers located three rifles and ammunition that was being stored in a careless manner.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to the qualified intoxilizer technician; both of his test results were analyzed to be above the legal limit.

Dean KOCH, 19 years of age from Wellesley has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus, Failure to Stop After Accident & Careless Storage of a Firearm. He was also served with a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for April 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Pedestrian Collision – Name Of Deceased Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a fatal crash that took place this morning west of Kirkton.

Just before 9:00 a.m. (10Mar) Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and South Huron Fire Department responded to a crash scene located on Kirkton Road (Huron County Road #6) near Plugtown Line.

The preliminary investigation has determined a male pedestrian entered onto Kirkton Road in an attempt to cross the roadway when he was struck by a sedan that was travelling westbound on Kirkton Road. He was transported from the scene to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The deceased has been identified as Marwood WILLIS, 86 years of age, from Kirkton.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled to take place on March 11, 2020.

West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team members attended the scene to assist Huron OPP members with the collision investigation.

Kirkton Road (Huron County Road #6) re-opened for travel at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Drunk Driving Charge In Kincardine – POWER

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On March 4, 2020 at 11:01 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol stopped a vehicle along Queen Street in Kincardine. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Corey POWER, 34-years-old, of Kincardine was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 25, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Impaired Driver Caught Going 175 km/h

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On February 25, 2020, at approximately 11:10 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Wellington Road 125 involving a possible impaired driver.

Police located the white sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Wellington Road 124 near Wellington Road 26 and observed the vehicle weaving within its lane and travelling at a speed in excess of 175 km/h.

Officers stopped the motor vehicle and while speaking to the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Aaron John SOEHNER, 27-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Impaired, Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) and Dangerous Driving contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on April 2, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Signs Stolen From Monkton

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County OPP are investigating the theft of street signs from 7 intersections in Monkton. The thefts are believed to have occurred on the weekend from February 28 to March 2, 2020.

A few of the signs have been recovered after they were discarded in the Town of Monkton, but most of the signs remain outstanding.

Another Impaired Driver Arrested – RUMBLE

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On February 23, 2020, at approximately 3:00 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a motor vehicle on Wellington Road 50 near Third Line in the Town of Erin for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

During the course of the investigation, officers formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Stephen RUMBLE, 59-years-old of Rockwood has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on March 27, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Impaired Driver Arrested Following Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On March 2, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle on Highway 6 near Side Road 5 in Centre Wellington Township. It was reported that the driver of a black sedan lost control of the vehicle, struck a guard rail and came to rest in the ditch.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The accused was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Christopher Raymond HATTON, 47-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood). A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on March 31, 2020.

Another Ditch Drunk Driver Charged – SPRANGLER

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On February 29, 2020, at approximately 11:35 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch and the driver was possibly impaired on Wellington Road 11 in Mapleton Township.

Officers located the vehicle in the ditch and while speaking with the driver formed the opinion that they had alcohol in their body. Machete Used In Road Rage Incident

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On March 2, 2020 at 3:31 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a confrontation between two motorists on Kemble Rock Road, Georgian Bluffs in Grey County.

The altercation began following a near collision at an intersection North of Kemble. The vehicles met up again a few kilometres down the road, at this point the driver of one of the vehicles blocked the road stopping the other vehicle. The driver of the blocking vehicle exited with a machete in hand and made threats to the other vehicle driver. The stopped vehicle left the scene without injuries.

OPP officers attended the area and located the suspect vehicle and driver parked on the side of the road on Grey Road 1.

The driver, 33 year old, Andrew MILLER from Georgian Bluffs was arrested and charged with the following offences,

Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, section 88 Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Two counts of failure to comply with release order, section 145(5)(a) CC

Driving while under suspension, section 53(1) Highway Traffic Act

The accused was held for a bail hearing on March 3, 2020 and following the hearing was remanded into custody.

17 Year Old Facing Multiple Charges Following Traffic Stop

(MEAFORD, ON) – On March 2, 2020 at 9:34 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a pick-up truck on Collingwood Street West, Meaford in Grey County, with expired validation sticker. The driver failed to produce a proper Ontario driver’s licence and valid insurance for the vehicle he was operating.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver of the truck, a 17 year old from Meaford, with the following offences,

Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver, section 340/94 5(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA) Regulations

Drive motor vehicle with no currently validated permit, section 7(1)(a) HTA

Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused was issued 3 provincial offence summons and is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound.

87 Year Old Charged In Collision That Resulted In One Being Airlifted To Hospital

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County OPP has concluded their investigation into a collision on Line 86 on December 11, 2019, which resulted in the driver of a farm tractor being ejected and airlifted to hospital.

The 63-year-old male driver of the farm tractor received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.

The 87-year-old male driver of the pickup truck from the Guelph area, was charged under The Highway Traffic Act with:

Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Stratford at a later date.

Nonagenarian Confronts Burglar –

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On March 2, 2020, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an intruder at a residence on White Bark Way, near Belwood. It was reported that at approximately 10:30 a.m. the victim, a 90-year-old man, found an unknown suspect within his home rummaging through belongings. When confronted, the lone suspect stated that they were there to do repairs. When the suspect went to get a business card from their vehicle they drove away.

The suspect was described by witnesses as a white male in his 40’s with grey hair and facial stubble, approximately 5’6 (168cm)
