Suspended Driver Facing Impaired Charge – LINDENFIELD

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Two Lucan residents are facing charges by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) following an investigation conducted by members of the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

At approximately 9:19 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 members of the Huron-Perth OPP CSCU were finishing up their duties at a search warrant located on Marlborough Street in Exeter when a vehicle pulled up alongside the curb of the residence that was just searched.

It caught the eye of one of the investigators as the driver was known to be suspended. A quick check confirmed the driver was currently suspended so he was initially arrested for driving while under suspension. Upon further observations and interaction with the driver numerous signs of impairment were observed.

The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Sebringville OPP Detachment for further examination by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). The driver completed the evaluation by the DRE and it was deemed he was impaired by a drug.

Additionally, a search of the passenger found her to be in possession of a quantity of suspected fentanyl.

Johnathan PARSONS, 36 years of age, from Lucan has been charged with Impaired Operation, Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl and Driving While Under Suspension.

Brandan LINDENFIELD, 36 years of age from Lucan has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl.

Both have been released from custody with court appearances scheduled for September 21, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

24 Year Old Caught Going 140 in an 80

(PERTH EAST, ON) -The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three more drivers in Perth East for traffic and cannabis violations last weekend.

The first stop was on June 6 2020, shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Perth Line 44 in the Township of Perth East. A motor vehicle was observed to be travelling at a high rate of speed, and the driver was found to be going in excess of 140km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

As a result, Alanna METZGER, 24, of St. Jacobs was charged with:

Race a Motor Vehicle – Stunt

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

During another traffic stop for speeding on Highway 7 in the Township of Perth East, just before 8:00 p.m. on June 6, a Perth County OPP officer found the driver had cannabis readily available.

As a result, a 19 year old resident of Kitchener has been charged with:

Speeding 1-49km/h over

Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis readily available

Just after 1:00 a.m. on June 7 2020, another Perth County OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Perth Line 33 in the Township of Perth East. During the investigation, the driver was found to have cannabis readily available.

As a result, an 18 year old resident of East Zorra-Tavistock Township has been charged with:

Person Under 19 years – possess cannabis

Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis readily available

Both drivers were issued Provincial Offences Notices for the charges.

Teen Charged For Drinking And Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) -The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three people after a traffic stop in Listowel.

Just before 2:30 a.m., officers on patrol stopped a vehicle on Mitchell Road South, and discovered that the novice driver had been consuming alcohol. Additionally, two under-age passengers were in possession of alcohol.

As a result, an 18 year old resident of Huron East has been charged with:

Novice driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) above zero

An 18 year old resident of Minto Township has been charged with:

Person Under 19 Years having Liquor

A 17 year old resident of North Perth has been charged with:

Person Under 19 Years having Liquor

Perth County OPP want to remind parents and young drivers that drivers age 21 or under, and novice drivers of any age (with G1, G2, M1, or M2 licences) must not have any presence of alcohol in their blood when behind the wheel. This is commonly referred to as the zero BAC” or “zero tolerance” rule.”

Drug Bust In Exeter – MORGAN

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – An Exeter resident is facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huron-Perth & Grey-Bruce Community Street Crimes Units (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence located on Marlborough Street in Exeter.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized quantities of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Hydromorphone and Psilocybin. The estimated, combined value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $3,400.

In addition to the seized controlled substances, police also seized offence related property that consisted of cellular phones, drug packaging materials, digital scales and $980 in Canadian currency. Two replica pellet guns were also seized.

Chad MORGAN, 39 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of Oxycodone for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of Hydromorphone for Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of Psilocybin for the Purposes of Trafficking, Possession of Fentanyl and Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 21, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Pedestrian Struck By Tanker Truck

(GODERICH, ON) – Just after 8:00 a.m. this morning (11June) members from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment and paramedics from Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a crash in the Town of Goderich at the intersection of Bayfield Road (Highway 21) and Blake Street East.

The preliminary investigation has revealed a pedestrian was struck by a tanker truck that was travelling southbound on Bayfield Road.

The involved pedestrian has been transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team will be attending the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

Bayfield Road will be closed between Bennett Street East and Blake Street East for the collision investigation.

Assault And Threats In North Perth – PASZTOR

(NORTH PERTH, ON) -The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a person after a weapons call in the Municipality of North Perth.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on June 4 2020, Perth County OPP were called to a parking lot off of Inkerman Street West, in Listowel for a person threatening the victims with a knife. The suspect was known to police, and was located and arrested a short distance away.

As a result, Jeremy PASZTOR, 44, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

Assault with a Weapon (two counts)

Uttering Threats – Damage Property

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges.

Collision Near Exeter Sends 4 To Hospital

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A collision that took place this past weekend south of Exeter remains under investigation by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On Sunday, June 7, 2020 at approximately 7:39 p.m. Huron OPP, South Huron Fire Department and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to the crash scene located at the intersection of Airport Line and Kirkton Road.

The preliminary investigation has determined a pickup truck that was travelling southbound on Airport Line was struck by a pickup truck that was travelling westbound on Kirkton Road.

Three occupants from one vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle were all transported to hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were demolished.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Vehicle Vandalized In Brussels

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking information from the public to help solve a mischief occurrence that took place in Brussels over the weekend.

On June 6, 2020 Huron OPP spoke with the victim and learned he had his sedan parked in his laneway overnight on Workman Drive. The next morning he woke up to find his vehicle with a smashed windshield and a slashed tire.

A witness reported seeing a suspect dressed in dark clothing running away from the scene around 12:30 a.m.

Arson In Fergus – HOLWERDA

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On June 6, 2020, at approximately 9:45 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of arson and mischief at an apartment building on Forfar Street East in Fergus.

It was reported that at approximately 2:00 a.m. an intoxicated individual caused damage to a newspaper stand inside the lobby by smashing it and set a barbeque on fire that was outside the building.

Officers determined the suspect’s identity and as a result, Gordon Evan HOLWERDA, 28-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Arson and Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on August 11, 2020 to answer to the charges.

24 Year Old Impaired Driver Charged – NEWPORT

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On June 7, 2020, at approximately 8:10 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Side Road 27 at Ninth Line in the Town of Erin. It was further reported that the driver had been drinking.

Officers attended the scene and spoke with the driver and determined that they had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

William Robert NEWPORT, 24-years-old of Dundalk has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on August 31, 2020.

Drunk Driver Arrested At RIDE – GHOURA

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On June 8, 2020, at approximately 1:35 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Brock Road south near Cockburn Street in Puslinch Township. Officers investigated the driver of a motor vehicle that entered into the checkpoint.

During the course of the investigation, officers formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Shyam GHOURA, 55-years-old of Toronto has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on July 28, 2020.

Stolen Vehicle Found Partially Submerged

(CENTRAL HURON & SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a theft of a pickup truck that was stolen from an Exeter residence last week.

On June 5, 2020 Huron OPP officers responded to a gravel pit located on Tower Line Road where they recovered a stolen Dodge Ram pickup that was found partially submerged in a pond on the property.

Investigators were able to contact the owner of the truck and it was learned the truck had been stolen sometime overnight on June 4, 2020 from a John Street West residence in Exeter.

Although the truck has been recovered, it is deemed to be a complete loss.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Randy RAE Charged

NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 3, 2020 at 9:04 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the theft of 2017 (grey) Ford Escape with attached Ontario licence plate #AAAZ692 from a residence at North Shore Road, Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Sometime between June 2, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. and June 3, 2020 at 7:50 a.m. unknown person(s) stole the Ford Escape from the driveway.

On June 4, 2020 at 1:57 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP officers were dispatched to a suspicious person at a business in Hepworth, South Bruce Peninsula. Officers arrived and located a person in possession of the outstanding stolen Ford Escape.

Grey Bruce OPP officers were assisted by Grey Bruce OPP Community Street Crime Unit, following stolen property being located in the recovered vehicle.

OPP have charged a 41 year old, Randy RAE from Woodstock, with the following offences;

Possession of property obtained by crime, exceeding $5,000 ,section 354(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, under $5,000, section 354(1)(a) CC

The accused was held for a bail hearing on June 5, 2020.

Porch Pirate Found Hiding With Methamphetamine In Goderich -Barbara-Jean PIEGEAU

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is offering the following tips and recommendations to help prevent doorstep package thefts in response to a recent case in Goderich.

On Friday, June 5, 2020 at about 1:35 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a call from an Oxford Street resident that reported a freshly delivered package had been stolen from his doorstep. The victim reported he received a notification on his cell phone that the package had been delivered however when he returned home the package was missing. Fortunately the victim had installed a home security surveillance system and was able to view the theft and obtain a description of the suspect.

With the assistance of the victim police located the suspect hiding between two homes in the area of Krohmer Drive and Suncoast Drive East. Police arrested the suspect and a search incident to arrest found the accused to be in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Police were able to locate only some of the stolen property.

Barbara-Jean PIEGEAU, 39 years of age, from Central Huron was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine.

She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Here are some tips to help prevent crimes of this nature.

Track deliveries online and try to be home at the time a package is delivered.

If possible, request delivery services to get a signature from a recipient

When scheduling a delivery, leave instructions on where the package can be delivered or ask for a phone call when it is delivered. Even leaving a package out of sight may make all the difference

Ask a trusted friend or neighbour to receive your package at the time of delivery

If allowed by an employer, have the packages delivered to your work

Have the package delivered to a delivery depot where it can be held for pickup

Consider installing a motion-detection home security system that records video and sends immediate notice of activity to your cell phone.

Some stores provide a pickup-in-store service that allow you to pick up items from a nearer location

Look carefully when ordering, as retailers may have a way of customizing delivery instructions

Install a locked mailbox

Contact the sender in a timely manner if a parcel does not arrive

22 Year Old Caught Going 130 in an 80

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver after they were speeding in West Perth last weekend.

On June 5 2020, police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 164, in the Municipality of West Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

As a result, Brandon NEGRETTE, 22, of Orangeville, has been charged with:

Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed
