Kitten(s) Thrown From Moving Vehicle – Two Dead

(ESSEX, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle and suspect involved in a cruelty to animal complaint on September 3, 2020.

The OPP responded to the report of a kitten being thrown from a moving vehicle on Maidstone Avenue in Essex at approximately 5:00 p.m. last Thursday evening.

The complainant contacted police advising they had witnessed a vehicle leave the drive through of a fast food restaurant on Maidstone Avenue and throw a kitten from the driver’s side door of the vehicle. The kitten was retrieved by the complainant and taken to a veterinary clinic but later died. A second kitten was found in the same area but was also dead.

The attached photo depicts the suspect vehicle involved and the OPP is asking that anyone who can assist with this investigation, contact them at 1-888-310-1122.

Break And Enter – Michael MURRIN

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – One person has been arrested after they committed a break and enter with a stolen vehicle.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on August 23 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break and enter in progress on Perth Road 131, just north of Milverton, in the Township of Perth East. Two males were seen entering a shed on a rural property, and removing items to a red vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene.

Just before 1:00 p.m. on the same day, police then received a call of a suspicious person at an address on Ellen Street, in Atwood, Municipality of North Perth. When police arrived on scene, it was determined that the person had been responsible for the break and enter, and was still in possession of the stolen items. The vehicle which had been used in the break and enter was stolen from the Kitchener-Waterloo area.

As a result, Michael MURRIN, 38, of Kitchener, was arrested and charged with:

Theft Under $5000

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Break, Enter a Place – commit indictable offence

Failure to Comply with Release Order – other than attend court

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges.

The stolen property, including chainsaws and power tools, were returned to the owner.

The second suspect is still outstanding.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to keep vehicles locked at all times, and never leave keys in, or near, a vehicle. Unlocked vehicles become easy targets, and are used to commit other crimes, including break and enters, or driving offences, such as impaired driving (by drugs or alcohol). Stolen vehicles also pose a risk to the public when drivers flee from police, driving in a dangerous manner in order to evade arrest.

4 Year Old Deceased After Being Struck By Farm Equipment

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On Monday September 7, 2020, shortly before 6:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Perth County Paramedic Service received a report of a farm accident that had occurred at a rural residence on Line 32, in the Municipality of West Perth.

It was determined that a four-year-old child was struck by a piece of farm equipment and was pronounced deceased.

The Huron County Major Crime Unit and the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are continuing to investigate. The Ministry of Labour has been notified to assist with this investigation.

A post mortem examination was completed on September 9, 2020. The investigation remains ongoing and further updates will be provided if they become available.

Homicide Investigation Update

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On September 6, 2020 at 4:09 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence at Isabella Road, Saugeen First Nation for a disturbance. OPP officers attended and discovered a person at the residence who was pronounced dead.

The male victim has now been identified as Clarence SOLOMON, 37 years old from Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation.

OPP have arrested and charged Austin CUBITT, 22 years old from Saugeen First Nation, with Second Degree Murder. The accused has a next court appearance of September 15, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton.

Members of the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, continue to investigate this occurrence.

Drunk Driving Charge Following Collision – KYNOCH

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On September 6, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision – vehicle in the ditch on Wellington Road 22 near the Fifth Line of Centre Wellington Township.

Police located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. Police searched the vehicle incident to arrest and seized a freshly opened can of beer that was on the floor of the passenger side. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

James KYNOCH, 45-years-old of Acton has been charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code and Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Alcohol contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on October 6, 2020.

Arrest Made In Counterfeit Money Operation – GREER & STANLEY

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid counterfeiting charges against a pair of Huron County residents following an investigation that started in August.

On August 24, 2020 Huron OPP commenced an investigation to determine the source of some counterfeit $100 bills that were being passed at various businesses in Exeter.

Investigators were ultimately led to two individuals that had used the counterfeit bills at three business located in Exeter. Police also turned up evidence that revealed one of the accused’s had been responsible for making the counterfeit bills. Additionally, police also found stolen personal identification with one of the accused.

Dayna STANLEY, 27 years of age, from Exeter has been charged with: Possessing Counterfeit Money – 3 counts, Uttering Counterfeit Money – 3 counts, Making Counterfeit Money and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – two counts. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 2, 2020.

Kyle GREER, 30 years of age from Huron East has been charged with: Possessing Counterfeit Money – 3 counts, Uttering Counterfeit Money – 3 counts and Fail to Comply with Probation Order – 3 counts. He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 10, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Tires And Rims Stolen Off Vehicle In Exeter

(EXETER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating a recent theft of rims and tires stolen in Exeter this past weekend.

On September 5, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling through a dealership lot on Main Street when he came across a pickup truck without rims and tires.

The subsequent investigation revealed the suspect attended the dealership and stole the rims and tires sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 3:20 a.m.

The value of the stolen rims and tires is approximately $4,000.

Drunk Driver Arrested – KENNEY

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On September 4, 2020, at approximately 7:45 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a motor vehicle on Wellington Road 109 for a Highway Traffic Act infraction.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that they had alcohol in their body. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Lisa Louise KENNEY, 32-years-old of Toronto has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. Trailer Stolen From Mount Forest Business

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On August 26, 2020 at approximately 11:15 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a business located on Main Street north in Mount Forest.

Investigation revealed that at approximately 1:30 a.m. unknown suspects entered the property and stole a camping trailer that had just been sold and was to be picked up the following day.

The trailer is described as a 2018 28-foot beige Salem camping trailer bearing Ontario marker S5360F.

Charge Following Fatal Collision

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On August 10, 2020, at approximately 6:00 p.m. The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Perth Road 140 and Perth Line 91 in the Municipality of North Perth. It was reported that a tractor trailer and a Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) had collided at the intersection, and that three occupants in the S.U.V. were seriously injured.

Wellington County OPP, Wellington County Emergency Medical Service, Perth County Paramedic Services and Mapleton Fire also responded to the collision. A passenger in the S.U.V., Girga PERSAUD, 55, of Caledon, was pronounced dead at scene, and the other two occupants of the S.U.V. were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer did not require medical treatment.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the tractor trailer, which was hauling fuel, had been travelling westbound when it struck the S.U.V., which had been travelling northbound. The intersection is controlled by a stop sign in the north and south directions. Investigators from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the collision investigation.

On August 26 2020, the Perth County OPP charged the driver of the S.U.V., a 53-year-old resident of Caledon, with:

– Careless Driving Causing Death

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Fatal Collision

(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) – Today at approximately 3:50 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph Wellington Paramedics Services and Mapleton Fire/Rescue responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle on Side Road 15 at Concession 14 in Mapleton Township.

The operator was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. He will not be identified until next of kin have been notified.

Concession 14 is closed between Wellington Road 11 and Side Road 12. Side Road 15 between Concession 16 and Wellington Road 7 will remain closed while OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) continue to investigate the collision.

E-Biker Facing Drunk Driving Charge – BOLTON

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On September 5, 2020 at 9:28 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle crash along Bruce County Road 4 in Brant Township. Officers attended with Bruce County Paramedics to find an E-bike had left the roadway. The driver had been drinking alcohol.

Steven BOLTON, 61-years-old, of Arran-Elderslie Township was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams and Drive while Prohibited. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 14, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Wroxeter Home Struck By Bullet – Kyle QUIPP Arrested

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A resident of Howick is facing three firearms related charges following an incident that took place in Wroxeter this weekend.

Shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a residence in Wroxeter after the homeowner reported hearing nearby gunshots and finding damage from a bullet inside his home.

Huron OPP attended the scene and immediately began searching for the shooter. Police were able to determine the general area where the gunshots were coming from and began searching an area to the north of Wroxeter.

Soon after police spoke with a suspect located on Belmore Line. Police learned the suspect had been skeet shooting on the property. Soon thereafter the suspect was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for processing.

Police seized several firearms and a large quantity of ammunition from the accused.

Kyle QUIPP, 29 years of age, from Howick has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Discharge a Firearm Into or at a Place in a Reckless Manner and Careless Storage of a Firearm.

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

16 Year Old Charged With Hit And Run & Careless Driving

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Police have laid charges in relation to a collision that had occurred in the Municipality of West Perth on July 27 2020.

Just after 12:00 a.m. on July 27 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a single vehicle collision on Line 35. A vehicle had left the roadway near a curve, landing on its roof.

The investigation revealed that the driver was uninjured, but had fled the scene prior to police arrival. Two of the three passengers who remained at the scene sustained minor injuries.

As a result, a 16-year-old resident of Stratford has been charged with:

Fail to remain

Fail to report accident

Drive motor vehicle – no licence

Careless driving

The accused has been issued a summons and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges.

The owner of the vehicle, a 77-year-old Stratford resident, was also charged with:

Permit motor vehicle to be operated without insurance

Drunk Driver Arrested On Hwy 21- BRADFIELD

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Komoka resident is facing four criminal charges following a single motor vehicle crash investigated by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend.

At approximately 12:51 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2020 Huron County OPP arrived at the crash scene located on Bluewater Highway (Highway 21) north of Blyth Road. Upon arrival officers located a heavily damaged hatchback and a damaged wooden fence. The driver of the hatchback was travelling southbound on Bluewater Highway when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway, took out a wooden fence and ultimately came to rest beyond the east ditch.

The investigating officer had reason to conduct a roadside screening test and upon doing so the driver registered a Fail. He was placed under arrest and was subsequently transported to the Huron Detachment for breath tests. Both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Upon further investigation police learned the accused was on court conditions to have no contact with a passenger in the vehicle. As well he was on court conditions to abstain from alcohol.

Dale BRADFIELD, 50 years of age from Komoka has been charged with:

Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

Failure to Comply with Release Order – Two counts

Obstruct Peace Officer

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 16, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
