Do You Recognize This Theft Suspect?

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating the theft of a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was taken yesterday from a property located on Beechwood Line near St. Columban. The suspect then used the same pickup truck later in the day and stole some gasoline from a gas station near London.   

The investigation has determined the thief stole the pickup sometime between 9:00 p.m. on July 6, 2021 and 8:00 a.m. on July 7, 2021. The pickup truck was taken from the owner’s garage. The key to the ignition had been left in the vehicle. 

The pickup truck is described as a white, 2020 Ford F-150 XTR crew cab with a short box.

Later that afternoon officers learned a suspect filled up the stolen vehicle on Hamilton Road in Thames Centre and fled the gas station after failing to pay for $93 in gasoline.

Break & Enter Near Exeter

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers including members from the Huron OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) continue to investigate a recent break, enter and theft that took place near Exeter.

On June 26, 2021 at approximately 2:39 a.m. officers responded to a break and enter in progress at a business located on Kirkton Road south of Exeter. Officers arrived shortly thereafter however the suspect had fled the scene.

A search of the premises revealed the suspect entered the premises through a rear door. Once inside numerous items were stolen. The estimated value of the stolen goods taken is about $6,000.

Some of the stolen items include:

·        Stihl gas chainsaws

·        Stihl brand backpack style leaf blower

·        Stihl brush trimmer

·        Two iPads

·        A pellet gun

·        A cash register containing some cash

The suspect is described as being a male, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue gloves, a black baseball cap, blue jeans and Nike running shoes.

68 Year Old Airlifted Following Collision

(MEAFORD, ON) – On July 3, 2021, at approximately 1 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and the Inter Township Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Highway 6-10 in the Municipality of Meaford, Ontario.

As a result, a 68-year-old was airlifted to a London area hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Team (TIME) attended, and is assisting with the investigation.

Further updates will be released as more information becomes available.

The Grey Bruce OPP would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to passing motorists who stopped and provided medical assistance to involved parties.

William SCOTT – Drunk Driving

(PAISLEY, ON) – On July 6, 2021 at 3:41 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along North Street in Paisley. Officers arrived with Paisley and Area Fire Department fire fighters and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a vehicle had struck a tree before coming to rest north of the roadway. Officers found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. 

William SCOTT, 68-years-old, of Arran-Elderslie Township, was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 25, 2021 to answer to the charge.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

James FOSTER – Drunk Driving

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Cambridge resident has been charged with Impaired Operation charges following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Canada Day. 

At approximately 5:27 p.m. on July 1, 2021 Huron OPP officers received a call from a concerned citizen about a possible impaired driver that was travelling eastbound on Dashwood Road.

An OPP officer was able to locate the suspect vehicle on Dashwood Road and after observing some erratic driving the investigating officer initiated a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been consuming alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment.

As a result the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit.

James FOSTER, 28 years of age, from Cambridge has been charged with Operation While Impaired & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 9, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. 

An automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension has been served on the driver and his vehicle has been impounded.

Another KERR Arrested For Drunk Driving

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident will be making a trip to court in August following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend in Goderich. 

On July 3, 2021 at approximately 2:32 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling in Goderich on Cambria Road when they stopped a driver for a traffic violation. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer detected the driver had been consuming some alcohol. 

As such a roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a Fail. The driver was placed under arrest and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were later provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be over the legal limit. 

Michael KERR, 33 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused received a 90-day automatic driver’s licence suspension and a court date scheduled for August 30, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested In Morris-Turnberry – Marina RANDAZZO

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A Hamilton resident will be making a return trip to Huron County later this summer to answer to an Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus charge following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week. 

Shortly after 12:00 a.m. on July 1, 2021 Huron County OPP officers received a call about a motorist that had ditched their vehicle at the intersection of Black Line and Harriston Road.  Upon arrival at the scene officers identified and spoke with the uninjured driver. Upon speaking with the driver police had reason to believe the driver had consumed some alcohol. 

A roadside test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. Upon doing so the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. Two samples of breath were later provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Marina RANDAZZO, 45 years of age, from Hamilton has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 26, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Parent Arrested For Dangerous Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A South Huron resident will have to attend court later this summer to answer to a Dangerous Operation charge laid this week by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On Monday, July 5, 2021 at approximately 6:43 p.m. Huron County OPP officers received a call about a driver that was driving very erratically on Elimville Line. Police had an opportunity to speak with two witnesses that were pulling camper trailers when they were passed by the accused. Investigators learned once the accused passed the camper trailers the accused heavily applied the brakes causing the camper trailers in behind to nearly lose control and crash on the gravel roadway. 

The subsequent investigation revealed the accused was driving in a manner that was considered to be reckless and dangerous. As a result, Matthew PARENT, 27 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Dangerous Operation. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 16, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Minor Injuries In Domestic Assaults

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person is facing multiple charges following an investigation into domestic incidents in the Municipality of West Perth.

On June 19, 2021, just before 11:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of several incidents that occurred in the area of West Perth between 2016 and June 19, 2021. During the investigation, it was learned that one person had committed multiple assaults against one victim, who received minor injuries as a result.

A 30-year-old resident of Woodstock was arrested and charged with:

–       Assault- Spousal (x5)

–       Assault with a Weapon- Spousal

–       Mischief- Destroys or Damages Property

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Mitchell Break & Enter

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Police are looking for suspects after a break, enter and theft to a residence in the Municipality of West Perth

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted on June 21, 2021, just before 3:00 p.m., after a resident of Mitchell determined their apartment had been entered, and electronics were missing. Sometime overnight between June 20, 2021 and June 21, 2021 unknown suspect(s) entered the residence on St. David Street and removed electronics including a television, laptop, cellphone, headphones, and charging system.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity to police immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Citizens are asked to ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to assist in the prevention of some crimes.

Stolen Property Recovered – SWEENEY, SWEENEY, SWEENEY

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On May 21, 2021 members of Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence on Nimmo Street in the County of Brant.

Items previously reported stolen from Brant County and the City of Brantford were recovered including a motorcycle and an ATV. All owners have been updated regarding their property.

Sam SWEENEY, 46 years-of-age from Brant County is charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000,
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order and
  • Altering/Destroying/Removing a vehicle identification number (2 counts).

Jade Sierra SWEENEY, 25 years-of-age from Brant County is charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000 and
  • Altering/Destroying/Removing a vehicle identification number (2 counts).

Dorothy SWEENEY, 73 years-of-age from Brant County is charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Over $5000,
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Under $5000 and
  • Altering/Destroying/Removing a vehicle identification number (2 counts).

All accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.

14 Year Old Arrested For Uttering Threat

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On June 18, 2021, just before 9:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident in the area of Queen Street East, Listowel, in the Municipality of North Perth.

An investigation was conducted and as a result of a verbal altercation, a 14-year-old resident of North Perth was charged with:

–       Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

OPP Enforce Traffic Laws For One Week – 130 Speeders Caught

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – From June 26, 2021 to July 4, 2021, members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) participated in a Canada Day Traffic Initiative. This traffic campaign involved proactive enforcement of the “Big 4” driving offences of Aggressive Driving/Speeding, Impaired Driving, Distracted Driving, and Seatbelt Usage throughout Perth County. 

These offences continue to be contributing factors in serious motor vehicle collisions that occur on Ontario roadways. Perth County OPP members conducted a wide variety of enforcement on local roadways, in conjunction with a number of R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) spot checks to maintain the safety of our roadways.

Perth County OPP members laid over 160 charges during this initiative, including the following:

·      Speeding – 130 

·      Failure to properly Wear Seatbelts – 4

·     Stunt Driving – 2 

·      Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle – 1

·      Distracted Driving – 1

·      Other Provincial Charges – 25

Wingham Methamphetamine Bust – VOCK & MCLEAN

(NORTH HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment and Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) has led to criminal charges against a pair. 

Shortly after 11:00 a.m. on July 1, 2021 OPP members were in Wingham when they observed a person wanted for offences in Huron County and Stratford. Officers were able to block the suspect vehicle in on Josephine Street and the wanted male was taken into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in police seizing a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine and cocaine. 

The estimated combined street value of the seized drugs is $2,490. In addition, officers seized offence related property consisting of cell phones and $2,850 in Canadian currency.

Michael VOCK, 43 years of age from Huron East remains in custody on his outstanding charges along with new charges consisting of Possession of a Schedule I Substance -(Methamphetamine & Cocaine) for the Purposes of Trafficking and Failure to Comply with a Release Order – Other Than to Attend Court. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 13, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Jonathan MCLEAN, 38 years of age from Holyrood has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – (Methamphetamine & Cocaine) for the Purposes of Trafficking. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 9, 2021.

$130,000 Drug Bust – CURRAN & NANTAIS

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a driver and a passenger following an investigation into a suspicious person in the Municipality of Lakeshore over the weekend.

On July 4, 2021 at approximately 9:40 a.m. members of the Lakeshore detachment of the OPP responded to a report of a suspicious person in a vehicle parked on County Road 27 at Highway 401.

Upon speaking to the male driver, police determined the female passenger was wanted for offences from Essex County OPP.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested.

As a result, the investigation revealed approximately $130,000.00 worth of illicit drugs, and property located within the vehicle.

Devon C. CURRAN, a 31-year-old of Windsor has been charged with: 

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance-Other Drugs

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking Opioid (other than heroin) (three counts)

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking-Methamphetamine

·        Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

·        Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

·        Fail to Comply with Release Order – other than to attend court

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking-Cocaine

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00 (two counts)

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking-Other drugs

Kane A. NANTAIS, a 34-year-old of Windsor has been charged with: 

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin) (three counts)

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking-Methamphetamine

·        Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner

·        Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00 (two counts)

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking-Cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking-Other drugs

Both of the accused were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor, On

This seizure during the Canada Day long weekend was significant and for those who profit from drug trafficking and feed the addiction of others you will be relentlessly pursued and prosecuted. The public plays an important role in immediately notifying the OPP of all suspicious activity and in doing so help us in keeping our communities safe.
