WARNING: Stratford Home Invader Uses Furnace Scam To Gain Entry – Plate #CZEF 163

On Thursday, September 18, 2025, the Stratford Police Service received a report of a suspicious male who had impersonated being a Bick Heating & Cooling employee to enter a residence in the City of Stratford.

It was reported to police that the subject male had contacted the residents of the home the previous night by phone and arranged a maintenance visit for their furnace.

The male arrived at the residence and was permitted into the residence under the pretense that he worked for Bick Heating & Cooling.

The homeowner’s daughter contacted Bick Heating & Cooling after becoming aware that the male was in her parents’ home. It was confirmed that he was not an employee of Bick Heating & Cooling and he was requested to leave the residence immediately.

The subject of this matter has been identified as a 39-year-old resident of Bolton. He is described as a black male, with short black hair, and a black beard. At the time of this incident, he was wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans. He arrived at the home in a rented, grey Nissan Sentra, licence plate: CZEF163.

The subject was arrested at Stratford Police Headquarters after being contacted by police. He was charged criminally with Unlawfully in a Dwelling and was released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 27, 2025.
