(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Police arrested and charged one person after a vehicle failed to stop for police.
On Sunday July 20, 2025, at approximately 11:10 a.m., the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle on Quesnel Road, West Nipissing.
The known driver of the vehicle failed to stop for police and then fled on a personal watercraft, without a personal floatation device on the lower Sturgeon River.
Later that day, police contacted the known individual, who agreed to turn themselves in.
As a result of the investigation, Timothy ZABA, 49 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with:
- Flight from peace officer
- Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit
- Operating personal watercraft without all required personal flotation devices or lifejackets on board being inherently buoyant
The accused was held for Bail Court, then released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on August 7, 2025, in North Bay.
