Sleeping Behind Wheel Ends With Impaired Charge

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – A person found sleeping at the wheel leads to one being charged with impaired.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a person slumped over at the wheel of a car at a local business on Armstrong Street in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming detachment for further testing. The vehicle was towed and impounded.

Nicole BELANGER, 35-years-of-age of Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – fentanyl

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on April 29, 2025.
