(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa as a result of a multi-vehicle collision.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on September 20, Ottawa OPP members were called to a four-vehicle collision on Highway 417 westbound near Metcalfe Rd. Officers suspected one of the drivers to be under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device was utilized, however the driver later refused to provide breath samples to an OPP Qualified Breath Technician.
As a result, Saad NASER, 39 years of age faces the following charges:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Refuse to comply with demand
- Dangerous operation
- Drive while prohibited – two counts
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused, who already had two Criminal Code driving suspensions, was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension as a result of the impaired driving charges and had his vehicle impounded for seven days. Two people, including the accused, suffered minor injuries from the collision and were transported to hospital by EMS. The accused is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.
