Nicolas ROQUE Arrested After ALPR Hit

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver with multiple offences after a traffic stop.

On Wednesday August 20, 2025, at approximately 3:40 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP, were alerted by the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, of a possible suspended driver on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

The driver was arrested for being impaired and a suspended driver, then transported to the Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing.

A small amount of cannabis was located in the vehicle.

The driver failed to comply with the breath demand and as a result of the investigation, Nicolas ROQUE, 45 years-of-age, from West Nipissing, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday October 2, 2025, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The OPP would like to remind the public that if you fail or refuse to provide a breath sample or comply with a lawful demand from police, you face the same penalties as if you were charged with impaired driving:

  • Criminal charges
  • Immediate licence suspension
  • Vehicle impoundment
  • Fines and possible jail time
